.Nonononono, I'm glad. And that's what I think is part of the problem.

I mean the respectful people who don't just assume and actually check to make sure.

:c Sorry.
Well, at least our views are out there.
I'm going to bed soon anyway, you can get a word in then. :P

Mm. As far as I'm concerned, that's a terrible form of stereotyping, to stereotype people to religions by their skin colour.
Especially considering skin colour comes from genetics that are in turn produced from your environment, whereas religion comes from you upbringing and can change at any time.
There's nothing to stop you from getting a Canadian Sikh or a Chinese Jew.
Nationalities and skin colour shouldn't be connected to religion. (Although, in certain countries, it's quite easy to generalize correctly, say if you were to go to Israel, the large majority of people would be Jewish.)

It's easier then asking someone their religion.  :cookieMonster:

Actually terrorists are usually just extremists. It doesn't have to just apply to Muslims though, so the 72 virgins thing is dumb to bring up.

A lot of religious conversations have seem to come up in my life lately, and I guess it would be okay to share my thoughts on this whole issue.

To me, God and Satan aren't actually two different physical entities. It's not like when you die you'll go to heaven or hell, or anything for that matter. So, to me, God and Satan are just the two sides of your personality. God could be the representation of the good you show to others, while Satan the bad.

I guess it's more a spiritual thing, really.

Everything I want to do, feel the need to do, or actually need to do should be entirely up for my decision. I don't worship anything as a higher being than myself, and I don't see someone less fortunate to be any bit lesser. We're all people, and I don't believe we should have to resort to following the rules of something we're not going to ever be sure exists.

I meant like the muslim terrorists that people know of.

I'm not religious but I think there could be a god/gods. Actually I'm currently leaning towards polytheism. At least the polytheistic religions give reasons for the things that happen around them not just, "because god wills it to be so." I consider the priests and priestesses of old to be early scientists. Instead of just accepting things they came up for reasons why those things happened. One religion believed that what we call gravity was some god that pulled us back to earth when we left the ground. THey used their limited knowledge and applied it to the world around them, I have great respect for them.
Early people didn't have a world cup to want to watch and kill their parents, though!
 :cookieMonster:

It is what most of these types of topics will be based around though.
There's no way around people generalizing. It's much easier to mention the few sections of a view that make something appear really great or really bad.
It's also much easier to use extremists as the case for an entire religion than it is to actually get all the information and facts from various sections of a religion.

People think I'm Jewish because I'm really white in real life because my mother is Irish.

I don't want to respect somebody if they run around cutting off peoples heads because they did not accept Allah.
lol. Also: Terrorists are people who are brainwashed to think that they will be rewarded with 72 virgins if they kill themselves and kill people who do not worship god.

Or killing their own family members because they'd rather watch the World Cup than worship.

Yes, it happened.

humans are forgeted up

Or starting a freakin Crusade

wuts a crusade :3

You think that if somebody does not believe in some book of desert fairy tales that they will be depressed?
Can you atleast respect people's religions? I don't want this topic to turn into a religion war. Edit: I think it's too late. :P

Religion wars are loving stupid and I hate anyone who gets involved. There's other stuff to do.

And you're not going to make a difference at all whining on a forum.

I'm just curious, that's all.

Most of my cousins are Christians and they seem just as happy as me.

Only stupid people think that having a Religion or not affects emotional state.

I'm sorry I was thinking that.

Oh. That's pretty stupid. How can anyone even conceive the thought that not following a religion or following a religion can make you sad or happy?
Do these sort of people not see things like Births as happy occasions? Because I'm pretty sure that if a Christian has a baby, they're happy same as an atheist who has a baby.
I think it's one of those "scare-tactics" employed to be used on children in order to keep their faith through fear. Like "If you don't go to church or follow Jesus, you'll have a miserable sad life" or "If you don't go to church, you'll end up in Hell".

It's all scare-tactics. It never actually gives a person a chance to think for themselves, which is pretty pointless when God is supposed to have given people freewill and those people are then suppressing that ability.

I didn't mean to say it like that, I meant to say I THINK. And I'm sorry if it offended you, it's just something I thought happens.

None of the above. He's just another christcigarette that thinks you need to follow some idiotic cult to be happy.

I'm muslim.
lol
Also, no I don't. It's just Atheists and such have nothing to believe in, so I'm inferring that some might be depressed, etc.

I was christened and brought up as a Christian, although I wasn't forced to go to church or anything. In fact, my parent's didn't go really. They were far from devoted Christians.
I chose to go to Sunday Schools and church when I was about 7. I did that for a year before I moved to a different county.

I've then paid more attention to science, and haven't quite seen how Christianity truly makes sense in all it's ways.
I don't believe in god as I simply see the concept of believing in a god as a way of comforting one's self, or looking for rewards for life. Not truly a wonderful omnipotent presence that created life and is here to maintain and watch our species progress through time.

Overall though, I find that Religion can be good though as, in modern day's though, it's also accompanied with the teaching of right and wrong. The 10 commandments are a good sign of this and when used in today's upbringing, provides a good foundation for morals and teaching.

Mind you though, I don't know if I ever mentioned being a Christian before upon these forums or anywhere else on the web for that matter.

I think this is why most non-religious people are depressed, sad, or emo.

I'll agree on this because of the fact that I'm an atheist, and don't believe in a god, so therefore don't believe in a son of god. I do however, believe that there was a person named Jesus from around the same time as he is described in the Bible.

I also partly disagree with your reasoning, because as far as I know, God created men in his image, so therefore, if his son (Jesus) isn't just taking the image of men, he would look like a person.

This topic could be a reasonable religious topic, so long as no-one argues majorly with other people's views. You should just accept that people have their views, they've explained why they have those views, but don't go out of your way or in other's ways to change their view.
So, if someone says something and you don't agree with it, say why you don't agree with it, but don't try to follow it up with trying to either bash them because of their view or try to convert their view.
You're all allowed to have your own personal view's with your own reasoning behind it.

I don't know much about religion, I thought I knew it all. xD
