Modification Help / Re: Castle Defender (0 Bricks!) (updated)

Plus on top of that you have no one who knows how to become a buyer, and when one person knows how everyone on the server votes no. Then the castle falls and everyone goes "wtf" and can't realize they need to vote a buyer.

and repeat. over and over.

It's fun when you don't have idiots running around the server.

EDIT: Remove the ability to vote entirely, actually. Make it random.

Designated buyer isn't working and everyone claims they're the buyer.

This
But there is not many static shapes, and they are very lag free
I was noticing more lag than usual, just saying.
And I'm one of those with a lower-end computer.

Uh...

I meant being able to talk to people in a certain radius.
Other addons exist for this already if I remember right. They should work fine with this.

Not quite sure what you mean by that.

This looks really nice, will definitely use once released.

Edit: Actually can you add default chat size presets, getting the normal default size with the slider would seem to be trouble.
Fixed that, it's using a seperate variable now. I didn't catch that the first time.

Beta v2 is out, if you have Client_Extensions, remove it before updating.
EDIT: Also remove config/client/chat/vars.cs so the variables correctly re-initialize.

Currently getting the new GUI ready to release.

Can't figure out how to get a preview working, though. <color> and <font> have no effect on GuiTextCtrl or anything else I'm trying.

EDIT: Fixing some issues with the new Bold and Italic toggles... hold on

The font size slider should snap to whole number values.
I can't figure out how to get that to work.

Doesn't Blockland have a fonts folder or something?
It has one for cached fonts. They're .gft if I remember right and are-
It only adds files to it when they're used at least once.
basically.

oh and make the font thing a dropdown
Also I agree make fonts a drop down bar

The thing about that, is all fonts wouldn't be available to the user then. Surely you know how to open Notepad and look at your fonts?
On top of that, I don't have all Windows-default fonts like everyone else does. Mine defaults to Liberation Sans instead of Arial, for example.

Beta v5 is out!
This should be the final beta before I say it's pretty much done. It'll be moved to the Add-Ons section once v6 comes.

NOTE: If you had Client_Extensions (Beta v1), remove it before downloading this version.

NOTE: v4 and older users, you may need to update a couple of settings if the new v5 features are not displaying right.

Git Repo: https://bitbucket.org/TheBlackParrot/blockland-chat-customizer

Added:
  • Shadows can now be positioned; they're no longer forced at 2,2.
  • Time display
  • Maximum size increased from 32 to 48.

Fixed:
  • "Typing box" now scales with the font size, it's no longer forced to the smallest setting.
  • Shadows now display their correct color when using "\c" color tags.
  • Previews now have an outline.
  • Reset button now properly works.
  • Previews now update when the window is first opened.
  • If clan tags are blank even when enabled, they now have "pre" and "suf" in their place in the previews.
  • Shadow opacity reduced to 4 ticks for clairty's sake.

This was something that I meant to implement into Blota, but Munk and I haven't really touched it since whenever we lost interest.

Known Issues:
  • Some messages (notably involved with the SpeedKart gamemode) don't seem to show, or those aren't meant to be seen.

AND YES, THIS IS CLIENT-SIDED. NOT SERVER-SIDED.

Help / Re: Can Blockland (dedicated) even start up on my computer?
« on: March 28, 2013, 09:24:37 PM »
Sorry TBP, but I have no idea.
It's alright, I might try to switch over to my brother's old computer since he wants nothing to do with it. It's a Pentium 4 so it should run.

What steps do I have that are unneeded? The guide is for "beginners" so I did everything step by step so nobody would run into problems. You're welcome for trying to help you. The method I am doing keeps everything in one folder also. If you've tried this already and still doesn't idk, if you havent you should.

Whats the profile path argument? /home/USER/blocklandfolder?
You don't have to make a Blockland folder unless you're using the Portable App. The installation should already do this. Wine thinks of your home folder like the My Documents folder, and in Windows, the game files are installed to the My Documents folder, therefore Blockland ends up in the home folder in Linux.

Wine 1.4.1 isn't up-to-date at all. It's currently 1.5.26, and there's a PPA available on Wine's site for that version. Use that instead.

Just for further refrence, that part where you reinstalled Wine, you can enter N and it won't reinstall.

The dedicated server shortcuts actually work if you're straight-up installing the game.

If I remember correctly, you can just create a launcher with the "wine BlocklandLauncher.exe" command, or use the ones Blockland offers to create.

The "profilePath ." argument installs the game files to the same folder the launcher resides in.

And another tip, your Wine folder in its entirety is ~/.wine/drive_c.

Just saying.

Also, I am not sure what desktop environment Arch Linux uses (it seems like LXDE) but if its not you should try the Lubuntu distro which is basically Ubuntu but rather than using Unity, it uses LXDE which is super light and a good choice for old computers.
By default Arch is a bash shell (zsh shell in the CD environment, strongly prefer it over bash now). I just had a stripped down version of LXDE installed to attempt running BL. Before that it was just the shell prompt.
You could install GNOME Shell, KDE, LXDE, Openbox, there's a whole slew of DEs.
Myself, I'm running WMFS1 on top of LXDE on my laptop.

I HAVE A SOLUTION FOR YOU, BEHOLD MY ULTIMATE GUIDE (THANKS TO YAYFUN) ON HOW TO RUN A BL DEDICATED SERVER ON LINUX.

PM ME if you have any issues!
i-
that turtorial is terrible. You have so many unneeded steps.
In case I never mentioned it, I'm an Arch user, too, so it's a little different for me.

The Portable App version would've been better to use as well, as it keeps everything within one folder. Or you could just add the "profilePath ." argument.

Try deleting everything except for RunMe and the launcher, and then have it redownload everything.
Same as before. Launcher works, game doesn't.

And there's no console log even created? Odd. Make sure you're looking in the right place. Also, are you doing this on XP now or are you still using Linux/Wine?
I'm doing this within XP.
I'm pretty sure I'm looking in the right place too.
