Well you need entertainment when you're fighting off the horde. You try it without any source of entertainment.The more people you have the better chances you have on surviving a zombie apocalypse, but to be honest, even if you have tons of people, you are going to die.
The chances of someone actually surviving are very slim unless they were... oh I don't know, if they were planning on this and prepared, and if they have a good shelter for them to wait it out in, but even then the chances are slim.
