Off Topic / Of various notes regaurding my senority on multiple levels
« on: December 28, 2011, 12:40:09 AM »
First note, I have been here a long time and have seen the forums grow and change. I like how things have more calmed down recently, not so much that there is less going on, it's just less annoying. So good job community on getting your act together. I can honestly say I had no hope for this place, but I was proven wrong. :P

Another note, somewhat minor, I have spent almost 101 days active on these forums. Hmmm.

Third note, more major. I have come to the realization that I have faded into obscurity. I still get the occasional gawker talking about maps or laser guns but nothing really new. I miss having interesting things to offer the community. As such I will begin developing things more. I don't know where I want to start however as I have so many ideas its difficult to choose. But yeah.

And a fourth note, this is becoming like a song here with these notes yes? ANyways, I have noticed a gradual shift in my online persona from being a complete dipstuff, to now being kinda a douche, and I apologize for any negative content I may have been spewing likely as a result of venting from the morons I have to deal with at work.

A fifth and final note, this one not relating to anything with this community, I am about to ascend to the twenty-first tier of years-existing-on-earth-dom and therefore will have made my final major step into legal adulthood.

Yeah so I guess, whats going on community? I feel like we've been distant as of late.

For some reason it is not showing an weather anywhere except for like idaho or something and those big storms in central US. There were a few clouds of rain in like some random islands and stuff but other than that nothing. Is the world going to like dry up or something?

Off Topic / Virgin Mobile is the worst phone company on the planet
« on: November 28, 2011, 11:51:32 PM »
Virgin Mobile is the most peice of stuff phone carrier of all time and has no business trying to exist. They fail at everything they try to do and are the epitome of failure in customer support and quite frankly having any products work at all.

Creativity / Recruiting artists for development of a java game.
« on: November 25, 2011, 05:33:01 PM »
I am developing a java game for browser and possibly android play and would appreciate good support for this project as I have not done anything since graduating besides being a lazy ass and working at a stuff store. I suppose such things were made for eachother, but no more! I shall not condone the partaking of stuffting my life away and thus am making a game.

I will not go into too much detail but to give you a picture its in ways like a cross between Peter Molinoux's Populous and several other sandbox games and RTS's. I want to approach this stylized with a theme that is adaptable to multiple cultural groups while looking consistant. An Idea I had for the art would be that living beings were made up of like single strokes almost like brush strokes but very solid and such.

If you are interested please post an image of a scene with multiple people and at least two varieties of animals, some terrain, foliage, and buildings. I am currently planning on it being either faked perspective 2D or some interesting cross between 2D and 3D. But please no modeling submissions.

Thank you very much for your help on this and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Off Topic / So I tried salvia
« on: October 29, 2011, 07:42:37 PM »
It was weird. Not something I particularly was looking for. I like the ability to still function and I felt it knocked me on my ass too much. Then again I may have had too much. But basically I will say that as it is not illegal, buying it has no such repercussions, I would not endorse it.

See, I like marijuana because when I am not using it I still feel the impact of not being stressed out as much and am able to be much more productive because of it. I feel salvia has no such positive effects associated with it after I use it and therefore there is nothing making me want to do it again.

Off Topic / Should Ladios march on Oakland?
« on: October 28, 2011, 04:38:56 PM »
So I live less than 10 minutes by transit from all these Oakland Occupation shenanigans and it's really starting to piss me off with how poorly the police and people there are handling things. Almost to the point in which I'd wanna get involved.
I heard that alot of people will be attending a mass march tomorrow and I don't know if now is the time I should join in, if I even should.
Anyone have opinions on the subject?

Off Topic / Computer won't turn off and numerous other problems
« on: August 31, 2011, 10:17:16 PM »
I am not a very technical person and therefore do not know where is a good place to ask this. Google only shows me how to fix it if it won't turn on, so that is not helpful at all.

If I could get some help, at the very least a pointer of where to ask this, it would be much appreciated.

So here's what happens:

  • If I click to shut down the computer, nothing happens. If I wait, the computer will eventually go to sleep for me not doing anything, but it won't turn off.
  • I have to hold the power button down until it turns off by force.
  • When I turn on the computer again, it skips the log in screen and just goes straight to desktop.
  • There is no response to hitting ctrl alt delete either.
  • Logging off, restarting, and all those buttons in the start menu don't work either
  • Full system scan finds nothing
  • Can't do boot scan as I can't even turn off the computer to begin with

Other things:
  • Dell Precision M6500
  • 64bit Windows 7

Off Topic / Programmers with flash/flex knowledge?
« on: August 15, 2011, 01:38:17 PM »
How the forget do I get my loving as3 preloader to actually load.
It works fine if I were to import all my assets into the .fla but i dont want to because then I have to use all this convoluted bullstuff to get images to display the way I want. The issue is actually with the flex3 embedder, which apperantly does not allow for any images to be added to latter frames, just the first, so loving flash automatically starts loading them before the preloader even has time to start.

Anyone with experience on this bullstuff wanna help?
Yes I looked it up and most resolutions I've seen were along the lines of "forget it I don't want to waste time so I am just going to take one of the easy ways out." and don't solve the problem I am having.

Off Topic / Angry Shop Keep
« on: August 06, 2011, 03:02:59 AM »
Various things.
For one, I have to give people credit at their constant ingenuity of figuring out how to put items in the most possibly inconvenient and incorrect location.

People who would take down an entire row of purses, dump them on the ground and just leave them there to pick out one specific one of the identical purses from near the back. Purses do not have expiration dates.

Homeless people. No offense but they tend to cause a lot of problems. One time I was checking someone in a line full of people, and this random dude with a heavy accent is asking me where to get a belt or some stuff and this homeless guy walks in and sits down in the doorway and then begins bellowing as loud as possible announcing how he is at a moments notice going to leave. He is leaving and is going to leave, he claims. He wants to make sure everyone is aware he is goin to leave.

So one day this older woman starts bringing things to the counter. At first it looks like its just one of those, "oh one more thing" scenarios, but she kept leaving and coming and going. Eventually she was making trips back and forth from the furthest reaches of the store to gather this or that. We have carts, mind you, so its not like she was being forced to do this. As the line builds up, we have to eventually move her stuff into a cart for her. When she comes back she gets all indignant like we personally offended her and we are bad people.

A woman was once very picky about her bag. This was weird. We had several sizes of bags and she presented items to be bagged that would require a mediumish large bag. but out of the blue she pulled out a bunch more stuff. At this store we have a rule that we try to only use one bag, and have to charge an additional 25 cents per bag we didn't believe was necessary, as the store had on multiple occasions run out of bags. We were bag conservationists. Anyways I start putting things into this bag and she starts yelling at me not to bend the loving paper. The mother loving paper is supposed to be straight otherwise she might as well just throw the mother loving thing out. Shes not going to loving pay for it if I bend that mother loving paper. So i fill the bag and the mother loving paper is intact. The bag has a handle of some fly swatter or hanger or brush or something sticking out and she yells at me now that I gave her two bags worth of stuff. I need to give her a second bag for all this stuff im giving her. Well no, I say, to make a stand. No, I can give you a bigger bag, but i will have to charge you if you wanted two separate bags. Well forget it this is holding out a line heres your free loving bag bitch. She mumbles well next time ill just bring my own loving bags. Well maybe you should bitch. Next In Line Please :D

And so such things happen.

tl;dr = I am that angry shop keep.

This isn't to say I act angry mind you, I am always pleasant and cheerful and willing to help out and do my best for the customer :D
