i grew up in a rural town with farms scattered all over and the confederate flag is still flown on lifted trucks and at country music festivals. it represents their country/hick culture of drinking underage with their parents, hunting, working in farming/construction/other hard labor, 4x4'ing in the mud or dunes, and yelling "yee yee" for no loving reason among other things

honestly if people are flying the flag strictly to piss people off then wow good on them for being petty and all but i haven't met anyone who uses the flag solely for that reason

I grew up in the same kind of setting but in my case most of those types of people (especially ones w Confederate flags) were tribal

god damn every time a generation x or baby boomer walks in i'm legit ready to call my manager the moment they speak. with millennials its always smooth and quick and they don't cause trouble but with gen x its always "um excuse me"

there are some pretty annoying ass people that walk in but i have to earn this paycheck

i worked at a lumber yard where pretty much every person is 35+ and most of them are extremely impatient and bitchy but like ya said gotta earn that paycheck so just gotta have them bitch at you

Well considering I live in one of the "far left" states and have had all kinds of jobs it basically comes down to this

I keep my personal beliefs to myself and away from my work. When I'm at work I'm there to do a specific job. If I'm not doing my job properly, I know that I can be fired.

As an employee, you basically learn to be a customer punching bag. You will ALWAYS, ALWAYS have customers who bitch at you, are rude to you, swear at you, etc. The best thing to do is keep your loving mouth shut and either continue trying to assist them or direct them to your higher up boss.

The only time you should act differently is if you're being physically assaulted. Even if you went to your employer about a customer verbally harassing you or demeaning you, chances are they'll come out and speak to the customer themselves or call the police depending on the situation. They aren't going to lower your pay or fire you, that is the dumbest stuff.

Chances are by telling your boss you would get your pay lowered or fired on the spot, especially in the very far left states.

That definitely wouldnt happen...
