1. He's nice enough that we could have come to an understanding like adults if he already had chosen my name.
2. He's nice enough that he would probably be like "Ok he's calling his Blank so i'll make sure i don't accidentally name mine the same thing"
Idk how to make it any clearer... I gave my project a name. I told him the name for my project. If he was thinking of the same name, one of us would have changed, and honestly, if he was using the same name as me, I would have let him keep it; I would have changed. And on top of that:
I don't want him to choose the same name as me as well.

You know what? Screw it. [ASF]Ghost, I told you the name of my project as a PM here on the forums. It's the only time I've ever spoken written or otherwise communicated the name of my game. Ever. You want it? Take it. It's better then people constantly pounding on me for wanting my blockland project to not have the same name as his blockland project. Our games are similar, I have an alternative name that is also similar. I don't like it as much, but i'm sick of people pounding on me for wanting a name.

I want you to announce whether you want the name of my project or not. Just to end this drama once and for all. You won't be stealing it from my evil clutches, I'll just let you have it if you want it. I just want this to be over.

I can't believe all this is over what i want to name my game. I feel so insulted.
I could ask a lot of questions, but the one i'm the most curious about is probably, why do you care? This is a problem between me and ASF, and when i told him, his response was:
I like it! Have you made a lot of progress with the project btw?
So just drop it?

(that wasn't the point of my argument, he's been thinking about this for years too, i'm simply stating that i was infact also thinking about this for a long time) dude, if you wanna make a game, start making it. share its progress. but if you literally don't have anything done, don't come into other people's development threads and start telling them that they shouldn't name their game this because you thought of it first. (Covered this above)

so technically, no, you cannot "just claim a loving name" since you can't copyright something that doesn't exist.

sigh If i work all day, and i cut corners in the code for the sake of a preview, I'll probably be able to have something later today. I have one real holdback but i can hardcode around it.

So fine. Expect a topic later today. Tomorrow at the latest.

Torque 3D can, even if you're just using the tech demo

You'd just have to import the assets into it and spawn it via the mission editor

I think it still supports DIF interior files that uses JPGs for textures, so you shouldn't have to do any sort of port work
Can you describe how i do that? I mean...
one step closer i guess...

god the noTexture texture is ugly af


EDIT: I forgeten got it! ZERO textures though.. still need to know how to import that

For steering, I'll just make vehicles use the arrow keys, and invert it so that the up and down keys steer left / right, the left key moves it forward, and the right key allows you to change seats lol.
Wait was that a joke about how everyone is offering all these different control schemes or was that serious? I can't tell but that sounds really weird and hard to get use to. But i've never played driving simulators or racing games so i wouldn't know

3. When it gets down to Copyright issues, assuming either of us ever want to copyright our games, it's not as black and white as that, these aren't pets, these are games; public products that consumers are going to be purchasing. Again, i never said "IT'S MINE AND YOU CAN'T HAVE IT", but if i'm selling a legally copywritten game, he can't sell his game with the same name; and vice versa. Just like how I can't make a company named Microsoft, and i can't sell a cereal named Fruit Loops.

So technically, yes, i can "just claim a loving name." I just figured i would tell him before he names his game as apposed to after, to avoid playing the "who's going to rename" game, and just any problems in general.

I'm accusing him of reading my mind and planning to steal my game's name that never even left my imagination in any way until i told it to him in the PM i sent him.

Of course i'm not accusing or salty. I look at [ASF]'s game as a source of inspiration, not frustration. Seeing his game makes me want to work on mine. I've been a fan of him since he was the map making god in the good ol' days. Hell i remember falling asleep at my computer waiting for NYC to load.

Also, he did start working on it first, but I've been thinking about doing this for years; we both have been, It's something we have in common.
I shall use this to exact my unholy revenge.

I assume you mean me. I wanted to look past this comment but i can't because i know for every 1 person who commented it there are many more who thought it. So with that said here is my rebuttal.
  • I am not a troll
  • My game is not a joke
  • I am not upset, butthurt, or frustrated in any way with [ASF]Ghost, in fact the exact opposite is true.
  • I will not go away
  • If you don't like me or what i say you can feel free to ignore me
  • If you think my game is a lie because you havn't seen it yet, or your interested in general, instead of making passive aggressive remarks, why don't you ask me to see it? If i get enough "I wanna see your project"'s then i will actively open a (what i can only call a) semi-blog about it in the forums and on twitter
  • If the only responses I get in relation to my game here and in the game design megathread are negative, which i bring up because it has been almost universally the truth so far, i just won't end up making a topic about it. I don't need the hate getting in the way.
  • Just because i haven't shown anything off yet doesn't mean there is nothing

I'll append if i forgot something.

I'm really looking forward for this project. If I may, I'd suggest "another lego game", "brickland", "blockworld" or "rick astley" as names.
Actually, i'm going to PM him with the name of MY project. I don't want him to "just so happen" to choose the same name as me as well.

He already has a video out that shows the avatar is wearing a hat
