I'm thinking of making an adventure map. You start off in a huge ass desert with a few chests containing few goods from a plane crash. You have to find the military base in the desert that shot your plane down, and the back story to why they did it. When it's finished I will need testers.

Does anybody know how what program I can use to make the huge desert?

There is a map maker that is supposed to be very good at making custom things like that, not sure what it's called so search around a bit.

Edit: MCEdit is supposed to be good

What type of maps would jets be good on?
They would need huge city/terrain maps, which dont have very high action.

I am going to go to Martha's vineyard as part of the Boy Scouts, there is a really good friend of mine that is part of it also, so its good that I'll be able to hang out with him. For those of you who don't know what Martha's vineyard is, its a vacation spot in Connecticut where movie stars and even the president go to get away from everything else.
We'll be going to private spot that no one but us will be able to get to.
