Please reconcile this with your previous statement which started this entire argument
lol, i did

ok now i understand your points.  I thought "Agnostic Atheist" meant "an agnostic who is atheistic," not "an atheist who is agnostic."

my bad lol, thanks for helping me understand that.

so i suppose I'd then identify as an agnostic atheist as well

I find that the newer generation of athiests are more aggressive and rude. All they do is just bash those with religion, like one of those amazing atheist or Reddit types. Like any extremist, they see the world as theirs and anyone who is not them must convert to their standards. Like this guy:
I totally agree with you.  What I think would really be better for the world is that if everyone who identifies as an atheist would instead explore philosophy and identify with a branch of philosophy.

Like really, as a person, I'm an existential humanist.  I believe that there is no inherent meaning to life.  I believe that everything in your life gets it's importance only from the importance that you (and society) imbue it with.  I believe that a person must find their own personal meaning in life.
That is quite selfish. I think people should tell themselves what to do and give themselves a purpose in their world. Even the smallest of deeds or things you do can have a big impact on someone or something.
oh hey.  might want to read up on existential humanism.

Strong = GNOSTIC atheism/theism (YES there is a god, NO there is no god)
Weak = AGNOSTIC atheism/theism (I THINK BUT CANNOT PROVE there is a god, I THINK BUT CANNOT PROVE there is no god

Can you not read diagrams?
I believe that there is no god, but only because there has never been any evidence to prove its existence.  I also believe that if there is a god, it is outside the laws of this world and that there will never really be any way to prove that it does or does not exist.  Therefore I'm an agnostic atheist.

That diagram is kind of confusing due to the difference between strong agnosticism (can't know if there is a deity or not) and weak agnosticism (theoretically something we can know).
I kind of understand what you're all saying now, but did you mean the difference between strong and weak atheism/theism?

Strong meaning, you can prove that there is/isn't a god, weak meaning that you can't prove that there is/isn't a god?

And you're saying there's a difference in that some believe we can know if there's a god or not but we don't know yet, and some believe that we can't and will never know for certain.

ok now i understand your points.  I thought "Agnostic Atheist" meant "an agnostic who is atheistic," not "an atheist who is agnostic."

my bad lol, thanks for helping me understand that.

so i suppose I'd then identify as an agnostic atheist as well

edit:
My religion is a slight edit to Christianity. I don't believe in the bible, but I believe in God and being a good person.
you are the best kind of religious person

“Agnostic atheism, also called atheistic agnosticism, is a philosophical position that encompasses both atheism and agnosticism. Agnostic atheists are atheistic because they do not hold a belief in the existence of any deity and agnostic because they claim that the existence of a deity is either unknowable in principle or currently unknown in fact.”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agnostic_atheism
But agnosticism itself implies that you neither accept nor deny the existence of a god, covering
they do not hold a belief in the existence of any deity
and agnostics also contend that
the existence of a deity is either unknowable in principle or currently unknown in fact.”

The definition of an agnostic atheist just sounds like any regular agnostic to me.  Can you explain an agnostic who isn't an agnostic atheist?

Agnostic literally means "unknowing."

Of course you can. Again, agnostic means unknowing. An apathetic agnostic doesn't know, or care, whether or not there is a higher power.
Wikipedia: "Agnosticism is the view that the existence or non-existence of any deity is unknown and possibly unknowable."

An agnostic theist isn't sure, but believes that higher power may exist.
This is an agnostic.

An agnostic atheist isn't sure, but believes a higher power probably doesn't exist.
This is also an agnostic.

If you're just calling yourself an agnostic atheist because you're scared that you're going to go to hell for calling yourself an atheist, you're an atheist.  If you're calling yourself an agnostic atheist because you think that there's no god, but you're not entirely sure, you're an agnostic.

you can't be "agnostic ______"

it's not a thing, agnostic means you don't feel that either side arguing for or against the existence of god has proposed an argument strong enough that you're willing to make a decision.  therefore you can't say "idk if theres a god but i'm totally catholic"

nor can you be apathetic agnostic, if you're truly apathetic to the idea of a higher power then you don't care enough to say that you're agnostic.  if you say you're apathetic agnostic, you're just agnostic because you cared enough to say that you're agnostic.

In modern times, however, even atheists show moral and ethical values (while, conversely, bible-thumpers have a tendency to be the greatest bigots) and science is, to a greater and greater extent, filling in the gaps of knowledge (from sources of illness and the position of the planets to the source of diversity of life) that used to be attributed to supernatural causes.

not 100% certain all these statistics are absolutely correct, but it makes a strong point
