Btw bumping this cause this is important.

You do realize that with the advent of this, ACTA is no longer on the front burner, right? I should probably just lock this.

You forgot a comma, stupid.

Oh no, I made a mistake, I guess that means I'm human, terribly sorry.

I didn't have the intention of putting a comma there, so no comma was required.

Pledging to help protect property is not the same as showing support toward a mostly irreverent bill.

The entire point of this bill is to protect intellectual property and copyrighted work. He has shown support for protecting intellectual property and copyrighted work. Thus, his support for protecting intellectual property is very relevant to this act.

This is one of the most ambitious attempts yet from the U.S. government to fight online piracy. President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden have pledged this year to help protect U.S. intellectual property. In June, Biden made headlines when he said: "Piracy is theft, clean and simple. It's smash and grab."

The president is the one who signs treaties.

True, but Congress has to approve his signing of such, and if they don't, it doesn't get passed.

This is exactly why Google will not be shut down.

Quote from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google
Google runs over one million servers in data centers around the world, and processes over one billion search requests and twenty petabytes of user-generated data every day. Google's rapid growth since its incorporation has triggered a chain of products, acquisitions and partnerships beyond the company's core search engine. The company offers online productivity software, such as its Gmail e-mail software, and social networking tools, including Orkut and, more recently, Google Buzz. Google's products extend to the desktop as well, with applications such as the web browser Google Chrome, the Picasa photo organization and editing software, and the Google Talk instant messaging application. Notably, Google leads the development of the Android mobile phone operating system, used on a number of phones such as the Nexus One and Motorola Droid. Because of its popularity and numerous products, Alexa lists Google as the Internet's most visited website. Google is also Fortune Magazine's fourth best place to work, and BrandZ's most powerful brand in the world. The dominant market position of Google's services has led to criticism of the company over issues including privacy, copyright, and censorship.

Well, whatever is breathing inside that building.

Unless you tell me where congress lives.

Uh, the Capitol Building?

Why can't we just go back to a time where if someone's selling something bootleg they get jailed?

Because that has proven to not work with modern technology, so Congress is basically saying "WELL forget THIS LETS JUST DESTROY THE INTERNET PIECE BY PIECE HOW 'BOUT THAT"
