according to them, "Chrome + fire + tuxedo = fashion win". i don't think they know what fire does to tuxedos.

Well basically it's a movie crossover and demo for the actual game, bit it's still pretty cool.

Broforce, and by extension The Expendabros, are manic platformer shooters / terrain demolition simulators where you're a fragile, overpowered dude ripping apart terrorists, war machines and the local landscape.

Fun.

Games / CAVERN KINGS - Manic shooter / kaboom game

Kickstarter
DEMO / PUBLIC BETA DOWNLOAD

Quote from: Kickstarter
Cavern Kings is an infinite action platformer designed to make every playthrough unique and interesting.

Inspired by action-packed games like Vlambeer's "Super Crate Box" and the increasing difficulty aspects in "Risk of Rain", Cavern Kings aims to explode with special effects in classical arcade fashion and create interesting synergies with its powerup system.

I found this game yesterday and spent at least a few hours getting my ass kicked. Fun.

Games / Draw a Pokemon in 45 seconds

It shows you a Pokemon and gives you less than a minute to recreate it and let your artistic abilities shine bright like a black hole. Not much else to say.

From what I can tell, itís sponsored by Harvard and itís rather interesting. The basis is you look at pictures of people going through different emotions and decide what emotion theyíre feeling. The trick is, you can only see their eyes.

The best way to describe this is a mix of conventional e-mail and Pokemon X's Wonder Trade feature. You write a message and then send it, not knowing who, where and when may get it. Likewise, you will also receive messages from random, anonymous people that may contain literally loving anything in the form of text.

This site seems to be midway through maintenance, and may improve in the future. poof it's back online

you don't have to pay, or even register for that matter
What you do is you send "anonymous" messages and then a random person receives them. Obviously, people have attempted to send lewd/offensive things over this, but there's a newly added report button to stop that.

Also to clarify, this operates on a "push button, receive comedy" basis - you don't automatically receive messages over time, but you get one every time you hit refresh.

Games / Cortex Command - HEY GUYS EVER HEARD OF BUILD 30
« on: June 09, 2014, 06:20:29 AM »
This OP is from like 2010 holy stuff it's still useful:

What is it?

It's a physics-based 2D side-scrolling shooter with pixel-y graphics, crabs, mod ability, lots of gamemodes, a pretty neat AI, rather varied mod support, the ability to cram a stuffload of crabs into a crate as an ad-hoc bomb, and (as of build 30) Steam Workshop. Seriously this game's pretty neat overall, check out out.

Story

Earth was over.

Once peaceful, our world was awash in bloodshed, wracked by wars backed by holy men. It was humanity's darkest hour, and the boldest decisions were simply all we had left.
Forged in the rush of war, a curious symbiosis between man and machine formed. Our numbers bleeding away, technology enabled the survivors to control robots and clones from safety. And in the end, we found our bodies an obsolete constraint, and cast them off. Brain and mind interfaced with machines, we became more spirit than flesh-- one person living through many bodies.

And in this new form we attained escape from the corpse of our world. Interstellar rocket ships for the decades-long flights to reach new worlds became common once life support for entire bodies was unnecessary.
Fleeing into the dark unknown, humanity discovered it was not alone, but also not important. Humanity struggled for acceptance in this alien community, eventually forging the Orion Spur Amalgam. Interstellar trade flourished, and with it came rapid expansion. As the era of faster-than-light dawned, humanity could live again in peace and prosperity.

But human nature wasn't cast off as easily. For every city and space station compounded the ever-growing hunger for resources. Worlds were stripped in civilized sectors where law ensured conquest by the highest bidder. So all eyes turned outward, to star systems where no law existed but what you could enforce.
As the gold rush brings commanders from several rival groups to one such world beyond the far eastern fringes of the OSA, all prepare to assume... Cortex Command.

so far it's pretty cool

Getting from our house to our Moscow crib sucked though - I had to wake up at 4 and leave at 7 AM, and the trip took a cool 10 or 11 hours.  I wasn't used to long ass trips in a cramped space during waking hours and didn't have a lot to do on my phone, so I spent half the time slowly losing my mind.  732+ km is a lot to clear.

But Moscow is absolutely massive - far bigger than where I normally live.  I have yet to actually go places here, but from my previous week-long joyride this megapolis has a diverse ass amount of cool stuff.  I'm staying here at least until July ends (2/3 of my summer vacation), mid-August at worst.  Also this goddamn cat won't stop trying to hijack my seat I mean he's cute bUT NOT NOW FFS

so yeah

Have you visited the threads named Pixel Art, Game Design Megathread or Drawing Megathread recently? because if you have, this guy and his tweets should look familiar:
Bushido - Top down golf cart shooter
Bushido - Various gun designs
Bushido - SMG posing
Bushido - "Camlights"
Bushido - "Camlights" pt. 2
Bushido - Robot girl sprite
Bushido - to conclude, bushi and skull should get a room together
Plastiware - Peach remake 404
Cybertails1998 - Bug enemy designs
LoserHero - Villager design
Dunno who this is stolen from
Rotondo (!!!) - Robotron in-progress screenshot

That's not ALL the stuff he pilfered - there's a lot more stolen content just sitting in his many status updates. If you've ever drew or made something good, there's a great chance your work was used to stroke some neckbeard's ego.

Relevant reminder: Twitter has a "flag this" button similar to Youtube's. That's all.

One of the actually fun Blockland servers went down without warning just now.

I'm frustated - I actually planned to have fun on it, and then it just froze up and timed out. Is there an explanation?
