Well, now I've got time to kill, seeing as a 4x burn speed is extremely slow.

i bet you're not using a dvd.
you need to have the space.
It's a 700MB CD, not a DVD, and Puppy Linux requires 131MB of space. Sorry for not clarifying in the OP. Also, I'm going to try it on a flash drive real quick.

Then use a CD-burning program to burn the ISO image slowly to a CD or DVD disc (4X is recommended for CD and 1X for DVD).
Ahhh, I missed that. I'm going to try that now.

Press F12
Select CD/DVD Drive or the name of your drive, depending on motherboard
???
Boot!
Tried that too. It looks like it would be making progress, but then i just get Windows.

Therefore, Windows is not progress.

I'm trying to burn a CD with a copy of Puppy Linux. I downloaded the .ISO file and am trying to burn it as a Data Disc using InfraRecorder, but my computer doesn't recognize it when I boot it. Yes, I set the boot preferences to set the CD Drive as the priority, but it just boots Windows. I'd like some help with this if you have any to offer. Thanks!

Okay, he says that he'll probably just leave the specs as they are. He'd rather not mess it up. He's not a big fan of Linux either.

So, I think he basically wants to stay on XP. :u

Oh. Alrighty. I'd just ask him what he want's to keep and trash the rest if it's running slow.

Here, I'd read this, it seems to contain a bit of info about the RAM. It's not the same, but I think you could get lucky here.

I'll ask him if he's tried it. He says he has used Linux, but not very much to have any notable experience with it.
Link now provided. Anyways, is there any way you could upgrade any specs? Like maybe a whole GB of RAM if it can support that. I'm not saying dig super deep, but even Windows 98 suggests you have 512MB of RAM.
