We killed off Soviet Russia with the Cold War and the arms race. History pretty much repeated there, huh?
Soviet Russia and North Korea were unstable to begin with. The Byzantines were violent, yes. But they had to be, the Turks would kill them otherwise. My point is that in a perfect world the Turks wouldn't attack, and nobody would need violence. The Byzantines had the highest quality of life for the average man up until the 1700s.

Can't imagine why the Byzantines are no longer around.  :cookieMonster:

Dictatorships work terribly because its like removing the immune system of your body. One bad germ and you're dead.
They were killed off by Turks, read your history boy.

He didn't misuse communism. If the U.S. became communist, our guns would be taken away and nobody could do jack stuff without it ending bad.
He said dictator and communism in the same context, that is incorrect. Communism is a collective, there is no central power.

34
I was pretty much suggesting we become North Korea.
But they're not communists, they say they are, but it's just a dictatorship.
And yes, communism is a theory, it hasn't worked in practice, but that doesn't mean it can't.

I will cherish this post in my signature forever.

Now think of ALL the people in the world that will avoid the brainwashing or become the ones to oversee it. You have opened yourself up to a dictators hands. Congratulations.
Lol, you just put a whole speech into my mouth, I never said it was a good idea. It's just a better alternative to anarchy. Also, dictatorships work fine when the ruler isn't corrupt, see: the byzantines.

36
that's it! america should go full-out communist! they should take away our guns and kill anyone that doesn't agree! that'll work perfectly! forget human rights and all that bullstuff! as long as we don't have our weapons why do we need any of this other "rights" stuff! what are those even lol?? who needs the loving constitution!

Seriously. forget yourself, Blocksalot.
You just misused the word communist. Very badly, like awful.
Communism isn't a dictatorship, it's a collective, a hive mind per say. The Soviets couldn't create this, so it collapsed into a dictatorship. Besides, being profane makes you look immature.

People like me. A person with a strong opinion you mean? You can't trust the governments in the long run. This is where you have failed and where over the course of thousands of years many people have fallen victim to a bad government. Why is that? Because people RUN the government. The government isn't some holy unflawed being that we trust to rule over us. If you want world peace you have to brainwash the people, take their rights away to have an opinion and sit on a throne of power. You either learn from your history or you become one of the people doomed to repeat it. Not every person is "naturally good". You are one misguided individual.
I'd rather be brainwashed and happy than dead.

38
You people sometimes. you couldn't even get everyone here to get along nevertheless billions of humans with differing opinions.
That doesn't mean we should all just shoot at each other does it? Just because a few people have different views doesn't mean that we should quit trying to co-exist.

39
Because it is. You can't trust every human being. And you can certainly not separate humans from their naturally evil nature when they are wired for it.
The fact that you presume that all people are evil in nature makes you sound paranoid and prevents us from moving forward as a nation. The rest of the world isn't an enemy, you don't need to hide behind violence.

40
So to solve the worlds problems you want humanity to unify non-vionlently, Which is a neigh impossible feat on its own?
It's impossible because people like you are unwilling to give up your stance on guns and violence. People that are unwilling to trust the government and the nations citizens are holding us back.

Norway also allows it's citizens to own firearms and they still have fewer deaths. And Norway is in Scandinavia, land of the Vikings.
Because the people there are more responsible than Americans. They don't condone mass shootings just to protect a 300 year old document.

42
Maybe instead of needing a gun to ward of crazed citizens, perhaps the problem lies within the person who is running at you with the knife?

Everyone jumps to the guns. Its always the guns. People are scared of loosing their precious guns. The problem here is the man holding the gun, not the gun itself.
This is my argument at it's core. Violence doesn't solve more violence.

People have always used and have been killed by weapons. Before guns it was swords, spears, axes, knives, and arrows. Before that clubs and rocks.
And because people have always used weapons means we should continue doing so? Seems like someone's stuck in the past.

So what equals peace, o-mighty Caesar?
Not shooting people, that's for sure.

Also, yes Europe has more blunt trauma, but it's violence rates are lower overall, America is stuck in its "Freedom Through Weapons" approach.

43
Maybe not but its still a weapon, besides what if someone breaks into your home? Wouldn't you want a gun to shoot him from the couch/whatever to the door?
I'd rather live in a society where criminals are so rare that that kind of thing is unnecessary. But people seem attached to the "Let Solve it With Violence" approach. Guns + more guns doesn't equal peace, it equals more shootings.

a gunshot to the head usually kills someone, a good hit on the head with a frying pan usually kills someone
But can a frying pan do it from a distance, and repeatedly without counter-attack?

Liberals and Conservatives are one in the same to me. Liberals have no idea what personal freedom is, Conservatives have no idea what religious freedom is. By the way, since California is crime filled state and has one of the toughest gun laws in the nation, here is how you acquire a gun legally.

And Washington has tight gun laws and very low crime, same with Vermont. I think that the correlation is very same.
