Its nothing to do with Ubuntu.I've installed it twice before. I really don't know what happened.
The OP is inexperienced and must have completely screwed up at the partition dialogue. You have to manually resize and setup a partition scheme, by default most Linux systems recommend a setup that clears everything.
On the bright side at least thats 50GB of brony research deleted from the universe.
