Off Topic / Reinstalling Windows XP. Help? - Step 2 - Installing programs.
« on: September 05, 2011, 11:06:46 PM »
So, I recently formatted my Windows install because I'm a moron, and I didn't pay attention to dialoge when installing Ubuntu.

So, someone told me that it's legal to download and install XP if I have the serials. I have the serials, but the disk is lost. (please comfirm this)
How do I reinstall XP (has to be XP because I have a crappy PC) via a CD or DVD (i think i only have CDs around).
I'm NOT installing Linux or BSD or anything else. Only XP.

Okay, I should be able to find them.
Now, hopefully it doesn't take to long. I can't do it tonight, because it's 8:00 here and I have to have lights out by 9. :/

Yeah, it's gone.
At least it's a fresh start.

But again, is is legal to download WinXP because I own the disk and if so, how do I install it?

Next time just boot Ubuntu off a usb
My BIOS doesn't allow for USB booting.
Okay, I want to be sure that I really did delete windows, or if I can recover it and all of my other stuff. (very unlikely, right?)

well you will really be kicking yourself once the annoyances of incompatibilities and stuffty emulating required to run all things you once could on windows.

was the party favors of linux worth it?
No. I'm snapping my Ubuntu disk and never re-installing once I get Windows back.

Its nothing to do with Ubuntu.

The OP is inexperienced and must have completely screwed up at the partition dialogue. You have to manually resize and setup a partition scheme, by default most Linux systems recommend a setup that clears everything.

On the bright side at least thats 50GB of brony research deleted from the universe.
I've installed it twice before. I really don't know what happened.
Also, I'm strongly against shipping and rule 34 etc. for MLP/anything

Goodnight, sweet prince.

loving reinstalling. I have questions.

1. I own the disk and stuff for WinXP. Is it legal to download it and if so, how do I install it?

2. It's a fresh install. I need apps. (suggest them after I reninstall)
