i don't wanna derail but isn't paypal punishing to people under 18
yes.

if you're going to use the subreddit and use paypal, you're gonna HAVE TO show ID to paypal, otherwise you will not be able to do anything with the money that goes into your account. (you have to show ID, utility bill, some other stuff)

i had to do a risky move with someone from ebay because my $450 (from a watch i sold) was just sitting in that account, doing nothing. i couldn't move the money to another acc, couldn't do ANYTHING (except refund). I refunded the money back to him and offered $390 if he sent the money to my dads paypal. after like a day he finally did it and forget me i couldn't have been luckier.

Off Topic / Do you wipe sitting down, or standing up?
« on: November 02, 2017, 07:43:03 PM »
DISCLAIMER: This is a very controversial subject, especially in 2017. Do you wipe sitting down, or wipe standing up? There are many pro's and cons towards each path, but I'll let YOU decide the pros and cons yourselves. I will provide some examples of sitters and standers below. Keep in mind this is an open-minded, non-biased (its actually very biased) debate. Please be formal and kind to everyones opinions.

STANDERS:

Mike #1:

Standing while wiping is the only way to go. One hand (my left) pulls my buttcheek to the side while the other cleans the affected area. It's flawless... I think if I wiped while sitting, I'd end up with poop all over my arm.

I'm a 23-year-old male who not only stands to wipe, but has never even contemplated any other form of wiping. I had no idea there was any other way until I went to college and people would see me stand-up over the top of the stall (I'm 6'4", the stall was roughly 5'10") and confused everyone. Apparently it's a New Jersey thing, as I did an impromptu dorm floor census (of both lovees), and everyone from Jersey wiped standing up.

Mike #2:

One positive has come from standing to wipe. Early in our dating years, my wife walked in on me (as girlfriends tend to do, goddammit) whilst in mid-wipe. I'll never forget that face. It was a terrible moment for both of us, but one of the best moments of our relationship as far as I'm concerned. She has never once, in the eight years since, come anywhere close to the bathroom while I'm taking a stuff. Peaceful every single time.

SITTERS:

Sam:

I used to stand to wipe my ass. The thought of putting my hand down the toilet bowl revolted me. It wasn't until I went to college that it dawned on me that standing up did not allow me to get every last piece of poop on my cheeks. I always wondered why my ass would be itchy about an hour later. I don't know what the actual catalyst was, but once I started to stay sitting to wipe, I began to have a dryer ass and fewer stuff stains in the boxers. I have not looked back.
Shawn:

So I used be a stander, it never occurred to me to sit while I wipe I was just easier to stand. However ,I say used to be a stander because I have since converted to sitting. A few years back I got a new job and at the company I worked for the gaps between the stall doors and walls was exceptionally wide, thus while standing to wipe I was basically showing dong for anyone walking by. I went to wiping sitting down. Now I am a sitter even when I am at home, I find I get better star fish coverage and it also helps with dingleberries. So there you have it the tale of a stander turned sitter.

I am 24 years old and, until today, had always wiped while standing. Then I had a nice leisurely post-lunch trip to the stuffter at work, stayed on the john to wipe, and it was one of the most eye-opening experiences of my lifetime.

FACTS:
  • It's a 50/50 split of sitters and standers. (However, some studies to show a 60% sitter 40% stander)
  • Some people do both!

Games / Re: Steam link for $1 [not anymore]
« on: October 24, 2017, 08:04:39 PM »
I heard it's actually mostly limited by your computer's hardware. Maybe moreso your router.

Having a faster internet connection isn't going to matter when it's not using the internet at all. Even if they designed it to connect to the device through the internet, your router is still going to be like "Well, actually, that device is on this network so let's just connect directly to it."

So no, internet is completely irrelevant. Its your router + hardware. Some people with decent rigs haven't had issues and I'm sure I wouldn't have either. But unfortunately this deal was not available for Canadians.
The steam link connects via WiFi if picked as well as ethernet. If it was all towards your hardware, the forgets the point of having internet connection on the link then?

Theres no way it can be related to hardware as my computer is definitely not a piece of stuff (but it's not a SLI titan x machine either). I've ran steam link before perfectly fine before i had AT&T, but since i switched to a different internet provider (i used to use time warner/spectrum) it's absolute garbage, and struggles loading big picture.

It'd be better if you actually had the steam link and not listening to heresay.

Edit to elaborate:

Yes, it does go towards hardware, because it streams DIRECTLY from your computer, as its not an OS itself. You cannot use your computer while steam link is active. But that doesn't mean that "internet is completely irrelevant" because it streams it. If internet was completely irrelevant, there'd be no point to the steam link as you could just hook up your computer to the loving TV via HDMI or whatever.

the steam link is bad but if you have decent-crap internet its absolutely useless (as expected)
its a streaming device. it essentially streams from your computer to the TV. if you have AT&T or any stuff internet provider this will work so bad you might as well just bring your TV upstairs. if you have google fiber or some nice ass internet expect it to work wonderfully.

the steam controller isnt as bad as what people say, but it's personal preference too i guess. I like the idea of joystick-less controllers and replaced with pads, it feels weird but kind of cool at the same time. it's responsive, hell even typing on the steam controller when talking in big picture is easy as hell. it's a neat controller.

it's amazing at astroneer btw.

one of my friends was talking about league of leg end at lunch the other day and i remembered that it existed and decided to check it out
the game runs surprisingly well on lowest settings (intel hd un-numbered graphics """card""" and pentium? or celeron?? processor) despite the fact that i have trouble running even super meat boy at a sustainable 30fps
i used to not like this game because i thought it was too complicated but after i playing it i realize that it's a lot of fun
yeah this game plays really well for stuffty computers
my crappy Dell Inspiron 1440 sucks ASS at EVERYTHING but can run LoL at lowest graphics at a solid 30-40, which is pretty forgetIN GOOD

« on: October 18, 2017, 03:08:05 PM »
Yeah, Affinities are in WU (as the *). Certain servers don't have it, certain servers (like the Second Age [server i played on]) you can donate fantastic items for affinities.

i was on mythmoor for a bit, will definitely be on again but too lazy to actually get started lol

griefings hard as hell unless you're on a skill gain server, where it's incredibly easy to get war machines/axes/etc up.
It's even EASIER if you have an affinity (the asterisk symbol by skills, gives 10% more XP gain) for one of the skills that bashes
generally the people who grief are absolute douchebags because they usually have 2k+ hours into this loving game. it's all they do outside of work.

unless you're not talking about bashing and instead on griefing via placing cobblestone tiles and stuff by peoples houses (you cant dig by cobble tiles unless you're a high enough strength) then forget those people. srs

find a decent server with decent administration. i can recommend a server with somewhat few people (it generally has 0-3 people on :(  ) called "Second Age". its a 2.5x skill gain if you worry much.

(if anyones down to play and make a somewaht nice village im all for it hmu here :)

I made a review for this game and i'll post it here:

Quote
I played this game for 20 hours in the past 2-3 days. Before it had a standalone (Wurm Online), I used to play the game on and off. Here are some things you should consider before buying the game:

This game takes time. LOTS, LOTS, LOTS of time. It took my friend and I 20 hours to FINALLY build a 1x1 shed. [to be fair he only anted a 1x1] (This was on a 2.5x skill gain server)

This is not a game where you can AFK, even though it has that theme of it. Macros are HIGHLY frowned upon and often bannable. The closest you can get to afk is opening console, and typing "bind <KEYHERE> <ACTION> (MINE_FORWARD for example)"

Leveling up skills in a server that isn't modded skill-gain wise will take forever, and ever. Even on skill-gain increased servers it will take a while. Especially since the game does not increment by just one digit. However, leveling up and learning new things is only available after a regular integer.
Instead, it's decimals. For example, Body control, an important skill for riding different animals, will increment by like 0.061, or even lower. (0.0051?)

This game is boring as all ♥♥♥♥ without playing with someone. Being alone is boring and slows down a lot of progress.

Again, TIME. This is probably what turns people off the most in this game, is the fact that you can't buiild a castle from the first day. Hell, you cant even build a house on your first night. (Not even close too unless 10x skill gain.. hehe).
This game will suck your hours in like a clingy girlfriend.

This game is targeted for specific audiences. A lot of people you will meet and play with are old. My main server's owner is a 64 year old.

Personally-- I think this game is built upon time and accomplishment. You spend a lot of time working on something and the accomplishment, the reward of building said object is what makes the game special.

You should take caution into buying this game- If you're willing to spend hours on this game, hours and hours of dedication into the game, BUY IT.
If you have a friend thats willing to play with you for hours, BUY IT.

If you're not going to spend at least 50-100 hours int othis game, DO NOT BUY IT. You will not enjoy it.
Impatient? DO NOT BUY IT. This game is all about time and patience.

I'll add something with the review (too lazy to post it into the actual steam review)

You'll need to 'tend' to this game on the occasion. Theres a decay system sort of like how Haven and Hearth works (If you don't know what HnH is, play the legacy, not the newer one [not to say newer one isnt bad])

  • If an item is not on paved land, it gets decayed, or the health of the item, decreases 5x
  • Wear on vehicles/carts == decay. If a vehicle has too much decay, it will not be able to function. It will also carry less stuff.
  • Your house can be decayed after a while of it being up. IF I RECALL weather DOES NOT affect it unless it's a server mod.
  • Food has decay as well. Decayed food = less nutrition.
