« on: September 17, 2012, 08:46:41 PM »I'm using note pad to edit the data. Yeah, it's cheap. I'm pretty sure it's not saving correctly either. There are characters that note pad doesn't recognize and it makes them up. Is there any way to make this not happen?

Do the files appear as a bunch of random characters? Because I assume that means they're either encrypted or need to be opened in a specific program, not just directly edited.

So I decided to modify the "data" file in this folder (I made a back-up copy, don't worry) and every change I make, no matter how small or insignificant, always crashes the game on start-up.
I'm just curious as to why this happens, because I thought it shouldn't cause problems like that.
EDIT: Even if I don't make changes (just delete a letter, replace the exact same character, then save it) the game crashes on start-up. What the hell.
You know, if you're just modifying existing files, you could Verify Cache to fix it instead. It'd just download instead of locally.
Also, obviously your problem has to do with the program you're using not saving all the data correctly. Either it can't read certain information, or there's extra information it can't see to set again when saving.

Basically, now you can define where it will search for players, the distance from the location given to search, and what gamemode the player must be in. Should make stuff work better - if you have some sort of competition map, you can make it only go for Survival players, and not screw up Creative overseers.
