yes I was referring to public colleges, not private universities. there has to be an attainable path to success for poor people or else they're just going to be stuck in the cycle.

as it stands, a lot of poor inner city black people focus less on school and more on practicing to put a square peg in a round hole to become a rapper or join the NBA, or otherwise see dealing drugs and robbing gas stations as a more reasonable path to success than tens of thousands of dollars of debt or even putting in the time and effort to get a GED.

Not my problem. Often times learning a trade will land in you better success than simply getting a degree for the forget of it anyway. And do you know how many financial aid programs are available? I'm not even the poorest of poor and I qualified for plenty. And that was a private, out of state college. In-state community? I probably could've just gotten a full ride. Of course, that has to do with my grades and SAT scores, but that's a whole other thing as far as this topic goes.
