I feel like 'virtue signalling' is a new excuse for crybabies to complain about content with a different opinion than them. Funny cause this is the party that hates Tumblr for doing the same thing

Virtue signalling has been around since moral busybodies. The evangelist moral busybodies did it when it came to gay marriage and other things they found morally objectionable. Kim Davis is a fine example of this. "LOOK AT HOW VIRTUOUS I AM BY REFUSING THIS GAY COUPLE'S RIGHT TO MARRY. LOOK AT ME MY FELLOW DEVOUT CHRISTIANS". Then other virtue signallers rally under her and go "YES WE SEE YOU WE ARE ALSO VIRTUOUS!!!!" It is no different than this video and others like it where people basically circlejerk under their misguided notions of moral superiority.
It's especially annoying in cases like this because we don't need to be reminded refugees are human beings. Literally no one is arguing that they're not human beings. People who make videos like this seem to think showing us some sympathetic stories from refugees and illegals is gonna change people's minds. As if we don't already know there's people out there like that. It's basically just an attempt to guilt trip people into falling in line. It's a bunch of bullstuff.

And anyway, ADIDAS owns sweatshops in these thirdworld countries. They're the last loving company that gets to virtue signal. In fact, that's another reason why virtue signalling is such bullstuff. It's loving hypocritical. These people who virtue signal do it to cover their own asses. They know damn well they have no right to try to police the morals of other people when they're doing some forgeted up stuff, but because the left is currently easily swayed through virtue signalling, getting brownie points for being diverse, inclusive, or whatever is easy as forget. It is BUUUUUUUUUUUULLstuff

Note that I'm not throwing around insults here, I'm just telling you the consequences of your statements. If you don't want those consequences from your statement, then you need to actually state what you mean instead of making sweeping generalizations about taxation and hoping that unwritten subtext comes through clear as day. Saying that kind of stuff doesn't help anyone, but having an intelligent discussion does.

Fair enough

3588
Yes.
Pot is a pathway to many addictions I consider to be viral.

Stop memeing you're derailing the topic
Out of everyone here you and Kimon are the two people I find the hardest to take seriously
Everyone else seems to be coming from a place of genuine concern but you two have to be trolling when you say stuff like this

3589
No, I took what you said, which was, and I quote, "trying to force other people to pay for other people's stuff," and told you that that is literally what taxes are
You are paying for government workers salary, for example. That is "other people's stuff." You are being forced to pay for other people's stuff right now. Someone probably used some of your tax money to buy a blow up doll or a hooker. The direct implication of your statement was that this "paying for other people's stuff" is bad and you wish for it not to happen.

For that to occur there has to be no taxes, and if there are no taxes there is no government. At all. That is literally anarchy.

You're free to take my statement to fully autistic levels of scrutiny, or you can be a normal person and understand it was made in the context of the healthcare discussion we've been having for the last several pages.

this same argument can be used against any other subsidy or tax-funded service in existence. roads aren't a right either, yet, like health care, they are objectively beneficial for the good of society and removing them is shooting yourself in the foot with passion

the point of taxes is to make sure people pay them regardless of their opinion on the matter. if we all just say 'forget it lets selectively pay taxes for whatever we want' society will collapse

That's not the point of taxes? You ever hear of taxation without representation? The forget.

Roads aren't a right but it's the government's job to maintain infrastructure on both a state and federal level. It is not the government's job to make sure everyone is insured for healthcare.

because taxes hold society together and allow a godly amount of security for the majority of people. a world without people being forced to hold up society is a world where people hold up themselves, aka the libertarian anarchy dystopia

That's nice and all but health insurance isn't a right that needs to be maintained by the government. Private citizens and corporations should be able to decide for themselves if they want to pay for health insurance or not. They shouldn't be forced to pay for other people's cancer, diabetes, or whatever tearjerker disease treatments.

You literally just dismissed all forms of taxes
Enjoy your anarchy

You're equating taxing to ensure the function of a government to taxing to ensure everyone has a commodity. Health insurance isn't a right. And it shouldn't be. We all have the right to health care. Hospitals cannot deny someone care except under certain circumstances. What we don't have the right to is having that care be paid for by other people. What's next, are we gonna start subsidizing internet access? Single payer cable? I gotta start paying for people who want HBO and all that fancy stuff so we can all have the same service?

are you telling me people should die because some dirtbags don't want to shill out an extra five bucks a month

No one "should" die but it's hardly our faults for not wanting to pay for their health insurance. It's not our faults they're in that situation and it's not our responsibility to get them out of it just because we live in the same company. I'd honestly argue that the only demographic who's health insurance should be paid for in full are veterans. Everyone else hasn't done anything to deserve the rest of us being taxed up the ass to take care of them. I'd rather take that extra five bucks and by myself a happy meal.

once again, paying a fraction of a cent every month to keep every crack addict alive is definitely worth it

No it isn't

3592
I don't know why you guys are so insistent on
A. paying for other people's stuff and
B. trying to force other people to pay for other people's stuff

3593
didn't new jersey have some issues regarding to healthcare or something? i'm not potshooting, just a curious question.

Not that I know of. I haven't had any problems with my plans at least, so I can't speak for the entire state. If there are issues unique to NJ, I wouldn't be surprised, Christie's been running a pretty stuff ship.

I've never seen a post so obviously written by a dumbass rich person

I've never seen a post so obviously written a by a handicap commie who thinks anyone who's not living in squalor must be rich. I am so sorry I'm part of a lower middle class household that has to get taxed up the loving ass to pay for your bullstuff socialist policies. I live in Irvington, for forget's sake, how can I be rich?

I don't know what else to say other than you're completely delusional and have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Personal anecdote - Until I can find a job that has health insurance, I literally, stressing this part because you're stupid, LITERALLY cannot afford health insurance if I lose anything to the preexisting condition bullstuff. Considering I have type-1 diabetes, this would be really loving bad.

Except for the millions who received their healthcare prior to getting a 'pre-existing condition' (diabetes, cancer, lupus, whatever).

edit: accidental double-post but whatever it's the morning

The only thing the government should do is make sure pre-existing conditions are covered.

Both of you shut up. It's like you didn't even read what I said.

3596
Because most Muslims are brown
That's really it lol

3597
>writing off people worried about losing coverage as "Fear mongering"

you're a special kind of starfish

Except that's not what I did. I said the whole MIWWIONS WILL DIEEEEE thing is a bunch of fearmongering bullstuff. Millions will not die. Millions will lose their healthcare - then buy new healthcare. You people act like it's impossible to get health insurance without government interference. That's not the case. The only thing the government should do is make sure pre-existing conditions are covered. Opening up the market will allow for proper competition between insurance companies. People aren't going to just be stuck with paying for a company that will forget them if they use their insurance. Companies that do that will go under quick if they don't adjust their prices and premiums to compete with others. It's not rocket science. Stop acting like the only solution to anything is government involvement.

3598
If one person dies because they lose their coverage that's a statistical outlier and not comparable to a situation where a toy helicopter manages to decapitate a toddler. There are hundreds of millions of people who will be under whatever the healthcare plan is. Saying it should be changed because ONE person dies is silly. If it works for everyone else but about a hundred people die, we should change it? I mean fine, sure, but then why is it when people complain about how Obamacare forgeted them, no one seems to care? Why the double standard?

3599
One singular person dying as a result of lost coverage is not a good reason to consider it an issue.

lets play the "Guess who isn't going to lose coverage" game

lets play the "Make assumptions about someone based on the things they say on the internet that aren't even tangentially related to their life situation" game
