I think the bill is gonna suck but we can stop with the PEOPLE WILL LITERALLY loving DIE IMMEDIATELY bullstuff? I sincerely doubt people are going to start dropping like flies if the new bill gets signed in. Not only that, they intentionally fudge the numbers of people who are losing their healthcare, and include people who are forced to get healthcare whether they want it or not, and people who have healthcare they can't even use because the premiums would nuke their wallet.
We can pick apart a stuffty healthcare bill without trying to fearmonger.

Honestly I think you're preaching to the choir on this one. Right, so you recognize one of the many destructive flaws of capitalism, and recognize that there is no reasonable reform under capitalism, and yet you still defend it? Do you not feel a sense of urgency in solving this issue because you aren't affected by it?Why stop at gas? Why not equip citizens with all of the tools necessary to contibute to society?

I'll take the destructive flaws of capitalism over the destructive flaws of communism any day. With capitalism you have a chance of many people ending up in poverty, whereas in communism EVERYONE is living in loving squalor.

around half of the people working minimum wage jobs are over 25 (BLS, see table 1), how would you explain this? the most likely explanation i can think of is that they simply cannot/don't have the opportunity to work anything else, but regardless, the fact that so many people outside the alleged target demographic group are working these jobs to sustain themselves is a problem, because it's provably true that you cannot comfortably sustain yourself working minimum wage, or at the very least, doing so relies on highly circumstantial conveniences

A lot of minimum wage jobs are supposed to be for floating teenagers through high school and college. Problem is a lot of these people get pidgeonholed into these jobs and can't go back to school to get a higher paying job. I think if we focused more on education and lowering the cost of living it would be avoidable. As it stands young people are getting choked out of jobs by people that should be in the higher paying jobs I'm referring to. That's my understanding of it, at least. I know raising minimum wage is not a good idea, because companies will just 1. lay people off 2. raise prices or 3. do both. Many major population centers don't offer much in terms of affordable housing, and minimum wage jobs are going to be phased out eventually in favor of automation. I can't offer any real solutions, just my brown townysis of what's happening when it comes to minimum wage jobs atm.

Welfare works in some cases but it's also abused in others, and it also seems to hold people back unintentionally. An example of this is my friend Johnny. His mom gets welfare, but he can't get a job. If he gets a job, they lose the welfare, and the job wouldn't be enough to support them without it.

Also this. I feel like welfare should come with certain conditions that allow for the person to work their way out of needing welfare. As it stands people who are on welfare tend to never get off of it for one reason or another.
