we emit 66% the amount of co2 that china does. that's too significant to say that we're not the problem. we aren't the biggest problem, but we're definitely the second biggest

We're already reducing our CO2 emissions, no amount of deregulation Annoying Orange does during his presidency is going to stop the steady shift to greener energy. The west has done all it's can to reduce our CO2 emissions. We can afford regulations on our industries. We aren't the problem.

why not do both? reduce our CO2 emissions so we don't keep snowballing, and as a bonus, we reduce our dependence on using finite resources to fuel our economy. at the same time, implement measures to help bring our atmospheric CO2 levels down more quickly to start chipping away whatever we can from the damage that's already done. mitigate the symptoms, treat the condition, and prevent future growth of the problem. there's no sense in making ladders if we're just going to keep digging the hole deeper

seventh is right though, a lot of the effects of climate change are simply irreparable. just letting it continue on isn't really the best option for us

If you don't want to cap industry, then you'll find that most of the damage from climate change is actually permanent. You cannot bring extinct species back to life, or remove trillions of tons of CO2 from oceans and the atmosphere, or revive destroyed ecosystems, or rebuild cities that are 20 feet underwater.

Could we adapt? Absolutely. But why not just handle this the easy way when it is literally the easiest, cheapest time to do so?

I think it'd be a simple matter of allowing the ocean and forests to heal.  We'd have to stop any countries that are dumping into rivers that flow out into the ocean, ocean dumping period, and probably forcefully end deforestation in any countries using it to expand. We'd also have to compensate these countries because their people need to eat. China's industry would have to be capped and regulated (last time I checked I think they were working towards that? Correct me if I'm wrong), same with India and other industry developing countries.
I don't think there's enough money in the world to fund all of that. If climate change is truly the end of the human race as we know it then it'd require immediate and draconian measures, and I don't think anyone is ready to go full on Command and Conquer yet.
Assuming it's too late for all that, then Juncoph is right and the easiest way to solve this barring going to war with certain countries is to engineer CO2 scrubbing operations. Plants that consume more CO2, some giant CO2 scrubber. Anything. I think people have to relax. Just a little.

Emmys and all that stuff are a loving joke anyways

not sure why youd think Annoying Orange is hiding some genius at the same time picking people that practically everyone agrees is terrible to work for him at the same time

Who said anything about him being a genius
All I said is he isn't a total handicap like people keep trying to paint him as
I don't see why it's hard to believe a businessman would be able to look into the energy market and know the Paris thing would be unnecessary for us anyway.
Far as I'm concerned, the US doesn't need to get involved in that to fix climate change anyway.
I think this accurately sums up how I feel, and if you (by you I mean all of you) don't want to watch it because it's a video, I'm not using it as some kind of verified source, so relax.

3659
What if
Hear me out
What if Annoying Orange isn't a total handicap and was aware of the current market trends, and figured the Paris Climate Agreement would be unnecessary because of it?

what's with the sudden shift in position with half the people in this topic

so watching research when you're eight is okay but if your parents teach you to masturbate at that age that's deplorable?

There's something gross about teaching your child to touch themselves, idk. Like, an eight year old naturally discovering research is just regular kids be kids nonsense and I feel like that's different than someone sitting their child down, slapping a carrot on the table and going over the pleasure centers and such and so without any warning for it. Setting your kid aside and going "Hey man, you're too young to be watching research and such" if you catch them is fine, but otherwise... yeugh
