Isn't Doctor Who supposed to be some kind of reptilian shape-shifting alien? What difference does it make whether he looks male or female if he's not even human?

IIRC Time Lords are like, energy being who shape shift through each life cycle. There has been precedent for them shifting between lovees (The Master went from male to female through one of his regeneration cycles), so I don't think anyone cares about the Doctor being female, so much as the motives behind the decision.

yes, research does promote bad behavior, and so do video games. who they severely affect and who they don't is up for research and debate. in this case personal anecdotes don't work well, so the "ive played video games my entire life and i havent killed anybody" type stuff cant apply

You do realize extensive research has been done into the "video games promote bad behavior in gamers" claim and has been found to be patently false?

im not going to argue for or against that claim

it promotes misogynous and misandrous behaviors that reflect on interaction with future partners, etc. all of these are behaviors that vulnerable people can adopt.

the main reason why research is restricted is because it aims to prevent younger audiences from trying to recreate it. you won't believe the amount of child research actresses exist on the deep web. whether they were forced to do it or made their own choice can't be statistically found and doesn't matter in this case

it's objectively a bad influence on growing minds, doing this is definitely smart. research isn't a supplement for love ed.

im sure people are still probably going to come through on their 'the web is free' high horse using whatever paid and private internet service provider they give business to

there's nothing immoral about watching research. however, research is a public health crCIA. research addiction is a big issue for a lot of people. chronic procrastination stunts hormonal growth in your body, leading to lower love drive and failure of certain secondary love characteristics. it promotes misogynous and misandrous behaviors that reflect on interaction with future partners, etc. all of these are behaviors that vulnerable people can adopt. children are notorious for having addictive personalities as their brains are growing and latch on to behaviors. allowing children to experience these bad behaviors is an objectively bad decision

you could argue that it shouldn't be the government's concern what people do in the privacy of their own homes. that same argument could be applied to the government banning cocaine, excessive abuse of children, and tons of other things that can be potentially harmful for families. research isn't as severe as the aforementioned, but it can definitely be considered one in the eyes of the law

if you want me to provide statistics for any of this, forget you and your sister. google why research is bad. it will take you less time to educate yourself than it will take me time to educate you

Yeah I know what you mean. When I write a female character it's cause I want to, not because I'm trying to appeal to anyone. I think the fans will be able to tell if it's unnatural and forced or if the writers decided that's just how they wanted to do it. Either way I'm all for a female Doctor as long as it isn't stuff, as I've said.

tony is actually part of the first category if you've seen his "its womens fault rick and morty is delayed"

i also agree that people should screen talented actors/actresses before shoehorning them into a movie. in fact, that's what every major movie producer does nowadays. it's not like they say "yo we need girlies to act no experience necessary" because obviously that's going to forget up their box office sellings

in the case of ghostbusters 2 or whatever, the actresses were actually somewhat talented but the writer forgeted up

They forced women writers onto the Rick n Morty team so he... isn't wrong. They had some unplanned mix up in the team so, while I wouldn't say WOMEN are at fault, women are... kind of at fault, you know? But like I said before, I don't give a stuff, as long as they don't suck. Forcing stuffty women into roles of power just bc they're women only puts forward the false reality that women suck at doing certain things, when it reality the sucky women are just being placed into - you get the point.

ive seen comments on the situation through twitter drama and yeah that pretty much nails it. if the writers do forget up their job it'll prove the points of no.2 and I guess the pitchforks can justifiably be raised, im mostly confused by the first mindset akin to primary school "no gurls allowed". its so odd to me

nothing wrong with a female lead as much as people have whined about it because ???

the real issue is if the show writers and producers are any good and don't forget it up, and last I heard its been very lacklustre

I havent seen any complaints about it because I don't... really pay attention to this, but I can imagine there's two kinds of people:
1. Genuinely loveist people who dislike the idea of a female lead and
2. People who think the writers are going to shoehorn in a female lead with no personality to appeal to a certain demographic without actually fleshing her out as a character, a la Marvel Comics

We should be more open to the idea of legalizing weed and partially decriminalizing certain drugs. Instead of just locking up people who are buying and addicted to the stuff we should focus on rehab and skill building so they break out of that cycle. Say what you want about the dealers, but I don't think carrying just enough cocaine or heroine for personal use should get you put in jail for years. Taxing weed would be a great idea, not sure why there's still any discussion about it.

• Decriminalize drug possession, sell legally and regulate to reduce harm
• Implement nation-wide gun control laws so it would be, at the very least, highly impractical to travel out-of-country to buy guns and then re-sell them in Chicago illegally
• Fund and regulate schools to ensure equal access to education
• Fund public infrastructure rebuilding projects and sustainable energy projects, pay reasonably
• Implement universal healthcare (Nationwide) so nobody drowns in debt from a twisted ankle

By no means is this an exhaustive list, it's just a few ideas.

You're right though, fascism is the practical decision here.

None of these are going to solve the problem of rooted in gun violence and gangs in Chicago. How in the forget is culling gang violence fascism? Are you trolling? I'm not even arguing against any of the ideas there, except nation wide gun control, because it's proven gun control doesn't do loving richard for anyone, criminals will find ways to purchase guns no matter what laws you pass, but how do any of these solve the crime problem in Chicago?
