I think you're vastly overestimating the severity of "racism" and "xenophobia" in America. and I put those in quotes because those are two words that are so watered down the past few years I feel like they're almost irrelevant except in the most egregious of cases. The vast majority of the population is not tribal or xenophobic, and the people who are attacked for being xenophobic are probably just regular Americans who are concerned for America more than immigrants and other countries, and that's not xenophobic.

He was born and raised in the UK. He recently came back from a trip to Libya so I'm guessing he was radicalized.

Born in the UK to Libyan refugees.

Remove kebab, problems solved. Kind of sad how one demographic is accounting for pretty much all the terrorism.

Well yeah, but like I said earlier, that'd only happen if the other side allowed it to happen. I can see it going in that direction if Annoying Orange hadn't won the election and started the pendulum swing, you know? As it stands, at worst we have people like Richard Spencer, who no one outside of a very small demographic takes seriously, because at least in America, we don't have much to afraid of in terms of people coming in and wrecking our stuff. In placed like Germany and Britain and France, where terror attacks seem to occur on a monthly basis, I could see how a national socialistesque party could come into power, because they have legitimate fuel for fear to use, and instead of acknowledging these fears as understandable and well conceived, the other side is trying to shout people down with claims of racism and Islamophobia, which is only making people genuinely start to hate middle eastern(er?)s and Muslims. It'd be like if the anti-muslim sentiment that was widespread after 9/11 didn't quiet down because the government told everyone to shut up about Islam instead of dealing with the issue. Eventually a party would come around that would promise to take care of the issue, and the people would be extremely accepting of it given the circumstances.
Any national socialists gaining power should be a clear sign to the opposition to get their stuff together.

We aren't Germany after getting assforgeted in a war. The US would have to be in loving ruins for national socialists to rise to power. And I do mean actual, white supremacist, straight up national socialists, not whatever boiled down milquetoast you think a national socialist is.

i suppose you could argue that if you give white supremacists or national socialists a pedestal for debate, you run the risk of actually legitimizing their cause and giving them a means of reaching more people. ofc this is only something that's concerning if you think that an idea is morally detestable by default, which i think does tend to apply for white supremacy and national socialistsm. of course if you're talking about actual law, then yeah, suppressing anyone's speech in that sense is wrong, no matter how revolutionary, contradictory to mainstream culture, or morally reprehensible their ideas are

IMO if white supremacy and national socialist political parties are legitimized, it's because the people on the other side of the debate are doing something really loving wrong. It's the lack of debate in general that's letting people like Richard Spencer gain a following. Shouting down and attempting to silence someone gives legitimacy to their views. Putting them on a platform with people who can provide counters to their ideas and shut them down via debate is the proper way of dealing with ideas we don't like.

I don't even understand why people have this idea that words are harmful? If Richard Spencer is saying something you don't like, then step out of audio range of him? Or better yet, you let him talk, then you refute his ideas the way it's supposed to go? Do his ideas even need to be refuted? Come on people, good christ.
