Use as many polygons as you want, as long as the result looks good.
The issue is that if you use too many polys in a gun, it ends up looking cluttered. It's a stylistic limit, not an actual one.

The thing with polycount is that it has no actual impact on gameplay/function, but it generally corresponds with the style of blockland to have a low polycount

The idea is to have as low of a polycount as possible, so using hexagons or octagons instead of 12-gons or whatever.

Frankly, Zeblote, I'd like to think I'm more qualified than you are to talk about this

I don't mean to be rude, but I don't think it's fair to discount someone's opinion, especially if it's perfectly valid.

Aah, it spins so fast. The model looks pretty cool, but I can't really tell because of how quickly it's rotating.

So most guns should be no more than two thousand polys, but around one thousand is generally considered alright. I think 750 is the most desirable, but quite often it isn't viable.

a couple years back, Gravity Cat released a gun - called the CX14 I think - that had an extremely high polycount, and spawning just a few of these could cause a frame rate drop. But then again that weapon had a ton of smoothshading, which could've accounted for the lag

regardless I was able to lower the actual polycount of the GSR down to around 3300 lol
That may be true, but all of takatos (beautiful) weapons have a really high polycount and there has never been a problem with them, so it seems like it doesn't really matter.

I like the choice of colors
how unexpected, nearly quadrupled-- 3947 faces :/ the stupid little square screws that originally counted for one face add on at least 6 on top of that one face, and the hexagon ones add at least 12

I know how I can lower the poly count but I don't know if it's worth the time-- if ~4000 faces isn't too much for just a weapon in BL
