If we nuke Russia we'll also nuke that cute singing Russian officer. Please nuke responsibly.

Games / Re: Undertale - The RPG where you don't have to hurt anyone
« on: March 06, 2016, 03:51:55 AM »
The actual tagline according to the trailer is "The friendly RPG where nobody has to die." Which is also kinda false for the first playthrough but who cares. The topic title's been bugging me all this time.

The Kickstarter page describes it as "[A game]...where no one has to get hurt". I suppose that's where I got it from.

If you'd like, I can change it.

This used to happen to me as well. It's a bit embarrassing to admit, but as a teenager I would get very anxious at even the idea of calling someone I didn't know. The feeling vanishes once you make enough calls; as simple as it sounds, the key is to treat phone calls as regular conversations. If anything, calls should be less stressful than everyday conversation, since you don't need to worry about looking engaged or attentive and you can't see who you're conversing with.

No, that sounds like a waste of both milk and ice cream. I don't know of anyone who does this.  It must be a regional thing.

Some art for Diamond is Unbreakable came out today (Feb 18)

I'm excited for it and I wanna talk about it so I'm posting it here

Diamond is Unbreakable looks good so far, but I'm sure they'll have to cut some story arcs if they don't want it to be a million episodes long. Goodbye Italian diner arc. The Cheap Trick, Boy II Man and Superfly arcs will likely get cut as well.

related, just got done watching end of evangelion

what the forget was episode 26

They had very low funds at the time and had to make the finale super minimal. I think their budget started to get strained around episode 18.

i started reading shingeki and actually i started to enjoy it but i caught up to it at like chapter 60 or something and haven't found the interest to go back and read the rest

It gets pretty crazy. It's on Chapter 77 now and more plot advancement has happened in the last 17 chapters than in the previous 40. We're at the point where (light spoilers) they're now fighting in order to reclaim the basement. (end of spoilers)

nonnel was kinda right too though cus I was actually asking about what that image was talking about

also what does "attack on titan" even mean anyway. the human city thing is not called "titan" so, what

Shingeki is just a nickname for the protagonists. It doesn't translate to anything fitting and I think it may be ironic.

As far as the title goes, most Japanese nouns don't have plurals; you can think of it as "Attack on Titans" if you'd like. Though that's a bit overly literal. Story-wise, the original name is actually fitting - though knowing why is a spoiler.

I always had a bit of a crush on Scully. How is she in this series, the same?

Off Topic / Re: My university just banned hoverboards.
« on: January 25, 2016, 10:00:12 PM »
that's a really stupid ban because literally any electronic device can overheat and explode while charging, even a phone
might as well ban phones

I think it goes a little beyond standard danger. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is investigating hoverboard fires and manufacturers. The fires are suspected to be the result of poor product design, not an inherent attribute of the electrical devices.

Off Topic / My university just banned hoverboards.

Apparently they can overheat and ignite while charging. It's the first I've heard of it, but google tells me it's a fairly common issue.

I haven't ever seen one on campus (I didn't even know they were available to the masses) but I suppose it's better to be safe than sorry. Anyway, I thought this was interesting enough to share here. Discuss hoverboards/their banning in this thread if you want to.

I'd like to point out that elbows came before bows.. I don't think our elbows are named after something we invented thousands of years after discovering our elbows.

Elbows existed long before we had a name for them.

Closing Guantanamo Bay was one of his campaign promises, wasn't it? Better late than never, I suppose.

I'm not feeling very nervous about meeting her parents, but I just want to know what to expect. Is it like an interrogation? A date?

They probably want to know more about you. They'll almost certainly ask how you met their daughter, what interests you have, what you plan to do once you graduate, etc.. It's super cliche advice, but just be yourself (within reason). Be personable, but not overtly friendly. Laugh at their jokes, but don't go too crazy with your own. Make eye contact often, but don't stare holes through them. There's dinner involved, right? Sit up straight, chew your food thoroughly, use your knife and fork well, stuff like that.

If you're serious about dating this girl, keeping in good (or at least modest) standing with her parents is recommended. First impressions are crucial. It's a fine line to tread and nobody expects you to ace it, but as long as you make a modest effort I'm sure it'll go over fine.

edit: Oh wait, by dinner were you talking about communion? If so, scratch my sentences about dinner.
