My custom build was in the $800's, but thats because I wanted a lot of juice :S
You can get some high end computers for rather low prices.

They're pretty awesome

Ontopic: I really liked AC4, I never once got bored. Sailing around blowing stuff up is very entertaining.
The Ubisoft office stuff is kinda boring, but.. Ah well. Good game over all!
