20 is the limit.
But, if I recall correctly, it's impossible to change except through console commands or something, I'm not sure how that works out.

You have to export models in .dts format, default feature in Milkshape(35$, easy to learn) and a plugin for blender(free, but a bit complicated).

Increased customization
Basically support for attaching models to models, i.e. attachments, more clothes and stuff.
Would be quite nice.
