Off Topic / PlayCrafter.com is screwed in a thousand and one ways
« on: May 06, 2011, 07:06:33 PM »
Well, I decided to visit the site PlayCrafter.com. I remember using it a year ago, so I went and made a account (my old one being abandoned), but it spams me a thousand server error messages. Every 6 seconds. It has now gotten worse, and I punched my monitor in frustration. Does any one know why this is happening?

Help / Is there a way to get a large explosion without events?
« on: April 23, 2011, 02:53:53 AM »
I want to have a mini nuke sized explosion (for private uses, I will NOT release it as an add-on).  I have tried using evented bricks, but it hits the limit of events.

Any way to do this? (yes, I am aware this may crash my game)

Well, Ashens uploaded a video awhile ago about this 500 dollar masterpiece. Would be cheaper but a small group of people make them.

Off Topic / Do you think nuclear power is a good, or bad, thing?
« on: April 23, 2011, 01:14:26 AM »
Well, im curious. Some people are, some aren't, and I was interested in whether you think it is or isn't and why.

just for those of you living under a rock: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_power

I think it is a good thing, not a permanent solution but a temporary one at the least.

I just found this pic of two of Chernobyl's workers standing on the lid of unit 3.

Kind of amusing for me.

Off Topic / Unpleasant surprise on iPod browser
« on: April 03, 2011, 04:36:33 PM »
My god...I turn on my iPod, wanting to go to BLF. Instead of an untitled white page, there is 6 tabs of adult social websites and hentai. What the forget? I open the history, and it is stuffed with who-knows-what. I had 2 friends over, and one has social issues. I know I left my iPod in my pillow, and played games on my Pc while they played L4D2. This might be a joke, but to me it looks like one got super horny and opened a stuff ton of research.

Off Topic / Audio system changes
« on: March 27, 2011, 03:41:59 AM »
Well, I have 6 speakers on my desk now. 4 if you don't include the stuff speakers in my monitor. Currently, my Ihome is using its default speakers, which are kind bad. but my logitechs are handling the computer audio. They are only 2.0, with no subwoofer. So, they can be put close to the Ihome and take up little space, and then connected to the Ihome to improve the quality. Problem is, I have no speakers to replace the stuff monitor ones. I could just live with stuff speakers, but I am picky as hell with audio, so I looked at newegg for a cheap 2.1 system. The sub can fit behind my monitor, and the satellites are not too big. I do not wanna connect the 2.1 system to my Ihome, unnecessary. My logitechs have passive subs built in, which helps bass but not very much.

About a budget of 100 dollars, preferably speakers from newegg or amazon.

so...what do you think?

current ones I am looking at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836150083 (Monocle ruled the last ones out)

Off Topic / How should I set up a dual boot?
« on: March 25, 2011, 03:46:04 AM »
Well, today, I found out the hard way that SPORE runs like horse stuff on 7 because it was made in 2008. My mom still has the install disk for XP lying around (she has an old Dell), I then thought that a dual boot would be a good idea, because many games I play are old.

What is a (preferably) easy way to set up a dual-boot?

Off Topic / Good video to GIF convertor (loving WATERMARKS)
« on: March 24, 2011, 03:58:16 PM »
Yes, again. The one I found had a big, obnoxious watermark in the image (it never told me). Please, no convertors with a watermark, and they can't cost money.

Really, what the forget:

Off Topic / FireFox 4
« on: March 23, 2011, 05:52:37 PM »
Well, today I decided that i would upgrade to 4. I had used 4 before, but it was early in development and i didn't like it. Today, when the new 3 version came out, I decided to see what they did with it. So, I downloaded it, installed it, and rebooted. WOW.

JUST WOW. I  am amazed at what they have done with it, and here is a picture:

it also seems to have changed the font to a nice, clean Arial font.
Seems to be faster too.

These games are amazing. i would type some long thing but in not in the mood.

These games are tactical, where you command units of tanks, infantry, and more in a theatre of war, after picking a country to fight for. This game and the others in the series are available on steam.

pros:
  • a ton of detail
  • damage modeling for practically everything
  • good AI
  • good voice acting
  • nice graphics

cons:
none I can think of, except for high requirements.

Off Topic / I need to vent about my parents and computers
« on: March 19, 2011, 01:35:03 PM »
My parents are complete idiots, they think that a 450 gig HD is enough for a gaming computer, when it's obvious it is not! They know NOTHING about computers, and it shows when they bought this computer; bad graphics card, bad HD, and now they're bitching at me for keeping to much junk in the computer! I want to hit someone right now! WHAT THE forget! I told my dad it had 17 gigs left in it...he said that was a lot left. How stupid can you get???

Next time I get a computer, i'm gonna do the customizing. NOTE TO SELF: Don't let 48 year old Dad and 51 year old Mom do the customizing.
