^^when I was in public school it was sorta like that
marching band members and football players got along especially well
there weren't any "street racers" or anything like that though, almost everyone drove average teenager cars. nobody was really enthusiastic about cars at all. the closest thing to it was the people who wore camouflage clothes and who would get weird boners over lifted trucks
but for the most part, there weren't really cliques. there were different types of people, of course, but they all hang out with each other instead of just with others like them
