Thing is, they have an ideal place. This is like the GameStop, ponychan is the Hot Topic.

All I'm saying is that if they lock the MLP topic then bronies will have naught to do but spread their pony fandom all over the forum. And that'd be disastrous. It'd be like taking down the borders of that alien slum from District 9 and telling all the prawns to just go wherever they please.

EDIT: ...Perhaps that brown townogy was rather tribal, forget I said it.

If they lock the MLP: FiM thread, it'd be like closing down a local Hot Topic: scene kids(or in this case, bronies) would have no place to shop for heavy metal band T-shirts and internet memes on tote bags(or in this case, no place to spread pony stuff), and so they'd have to clog up the rest of the shopping mall(or in this case, the forum). Who wants to see scene kids in a GameStop? :P

I suspect it won't be a real problem until the "bronies" start spreading a lot pony stuff in topics other than the MLP: FiM thread. While it's apparent that people do so, it seems not that problematic to me as of now. If people on an online forum become interested in a show for ten-year-old girls(God knows how) it's a responsible thing to do to create a topic dedicated to it, rather than smearing love and friendship all over the forum. Though many others have been made, only two have ever gone anywhere. And as for avatars, I don't see what the big deal is. I agree with you on the obese guy example, but that's simply an example and I doubt anyone on this forum with an avatar like that would last very long here. I have no problem with staring at mildly anthropomorphic cartoon pony faces on this forum. They're all just avatars to me. My only problem is when replying to them on the "What is the User Above You Avatar Saying" thread.
