Games / Re: Video Games - Art Form?

I would consider video games a form of art. They are like interactive movies sort of.
That's pretty much the way I see it.

I'm gonna go out at 6, look up, and yell "Beam me up, Scotty!".

Games / Video Games - Art Form?
« on: May 21, 2011, 08:16:56 AM »
I believe this topic has been brought up countless times before. Should video games be considered works of art? FOX News released a story this morning of the US government funding the production of video games for "art and education."

The story used the video game "Call Of Duty: Black Ops" as an example, which I feel was a very, very poor choice. If a video game where you go around shooting things in the head was used on a news network as an art display, why not a series as beautiful and artistic as, say, The Elder Scrolls?

They've had a radio talk show host expressing his belief that the funding of video games would be a waste of the government's money; that there is a wealth (lol, money pun) of other much more important things to spend it on.

The president of a video game company expressed his belief that video games are as much an art form as music or cinema (And in France, cinema is actually counted as an art form, with federal funding going towards the production of movies and the construction of theaters in major metropolitain areas).

What do you believe should be done with the government funding, or lack thereof, of video games?

This is a steamboat that I built in StarHawk's Boat Build. Due to an arrangement with the host, everything in the server but this boat was deleted to allow me to take these screenshots with nothing in the background but ocean.

And yes, the boat is called Act II. Don't ask me why.

Interior Views

The Galley (Featuring the Fantastic Furniture Stylings of Starhawk, Excellent Job Sir)

Bunk (Personally, I Detest My Work in This Room)

Bridge (Nothing Much)

Lower Deck (Contains Rooms For Bathroom, Shower, and Various Storage Rooms, DOF Boredom Fail. It Doesn't Matter, Not Much To See Down Here Anyway)

There is also a small boiler in between the bridge and smokestack on the top deck, not pictured here. It does not seem worth showing, it is just a furnace, really.

Rate, Comment, All That Jazz.

UPDATE
The Act II Has Been Augmented With The Equipment And Mooring Necessary For Commercial Fishing.

The old fart that predicted this nonsense is naught but a false prophet.

My girlfriend's the kind of person who doesn't believe in this sort of thing, but she does get stressed at the notion of it. I'll talk to her on Sunday.

Go to better cities and buy better furniture.
That's just it, there's only two cities that have furniture stores and I find myself going back and forth between them, buying out their stocks hoping in vain that they'll refresh with something better.

The same man who predicted Judgement Day on May 21st also predicted a Judgement Day some time in the 90s. Guess what didn't happen?

Are you expecting this girl to be so shallow that she only agrees because she thinks you're cute?
