Suggestions & Requests / I will take random requests
« on: May 18, 2012, 09:19:38 PM »
Post add-on requests here. I'll put the ones which are both reasonably possible and not stupid into a huge 'lottery' and pull out random requests until I don't any more. If it's already something I've made or is something I'm currently working on, I won't add it to the lottery because that can only hurt the other requests.

I will not make Funky Shirt. I will not make Blockland for Linux. I will not make a full City RPG gamemode designed to your exact specifications. Keep it reasonable or I just won't put it in the 'jar'.

The jar so far:
  • Image transfer proof-of-concept
  • Deployable cover
  • Net bricks
  • Minecraft boat
  • Better orbing
  • Fill printing
  • Cat crossbow
  • Master spark
  • Better mech
  • Banana gun
  • Shadow Kompressor
  • Better Bot Events (maybe?)

Add-Ons / TOS Phasers
« on: May 18, 2012, 06:51:56 PM »
It's the phaser, and it's here!
Now with a weaker version!

DOWNLOAD!

TOS Phaser I description:
Not good for killing; at full charge, it only just has enough to kill a player - if the beam never strays.
Far superior stun to energy ratio when compared to the Phaser II model.

TOS Phaser II description:
Not good for stunning; the stun beam is a horrible energy drain and is difficult to truly control.
Slightly higher damage to energy ratio than the Phaser I model, but there's more power as well.

Use the left trigger to fire, and the right trigger to switch modes.
Enjoy!

V1.1: Fixed a bug wherein the Phaser overwrote the Player Light. (Not directly.)

(If you want pictures and stuff, too bad. Wait for it to be on RTB.)

Modification Help / Weeping Angel model
« on: May 14, 2012, 05:47:51 PM »
I have a Weeping Angel script for Blockland,  but it doesn't really feel right without them being the actual shape of the Weeping Angel.

I'd prefer two models if anyone wants to make them - one with the hands down, and one with the hands up and covering the eyes; however, I can work with just one.

Don't blink.
Blink and you're dead.
Don't turn your back.
Don't look away.
And don't blink.
Good luck...

The Dalek are scary because they're dangerous, but you can always hear them coming. Weeping angels are scary on a whole new level.

Off Topic / I'm pleasanlty surprised
« on: May 11, 2012, 10:37:03 PM »
So far, I have recieved no reports to date of people abusing my client mods. I'm pleasantly surprised by this. Also, inb4 someone immediately abuses one of my client mods just to prove me wrong.

Off Topic / Making SOTLAs! (Scroll-Over-Text Laser Avatars)
« on: April 29, 2012, 05:08:26 AM »

I'll take avatar requests with either two lines of text or two 'frames' with one line of text each!

Note - if you choose to have the avatar have two frames, the lines of text have to be the same size.

Size 1: My avatar's size, 4 characters of text per line plus a lowercase i or l. One character = three is or ls.
Size 2: Slightly smaller, 6 characters of text per line plus a lowercase i or l. One character = three is or ls.

What I need to know:

One frame or two (not necessary for one line of text)
Line one text
Line two text (optional)
Line one color
Line two color (optional*)
Laser color
Background color

*If you specify this but not line two's text, I'll assume it's the same as line one with a different color.

I'm not taking color codes, you only have 64 colors to pick from. Look at the following chart.

I will only make two of these per key.
I also will not make one for you
until you get the format right.

My avatar:

Quote from: Xalos's avatar request to Xalos
Two frames
Xalos   (Size 1)
Solax   (Size 1)
Line 1:   Red: 0   Green: 0   Blue: 3
Line 2:   Red: 3   Green: 0   Blue: 0
Laser:   Red: 3   Green: 3   Blue: 1
Background:   Red: 0   Green: 0   Blue: 0

(You're allowed to word this differently, but you have to have all the correct information.)

No frills attached. It breaks bricks. Unless other bricks would also break.
It's an event hammer!

Khepri linked to the following phaser model, but I can't figure out what to do with it. I've tried copy-pasting it into Notepad and naming the file various extensions, but none of them work, and it appears to have references to other files as well.

Does anyone have any idea what to do with this large amount of text?

Off Topic / Badspot hacked my server
« on: April 21, 2012, 05:14:12 PM »
EDIT: Read this post all the way through or you'll miss it.

I was testing scripts a few minutes ago, when five people all join my server in a short space of time.

Then Badspot says they're taking over the server.

Somehow, I get de-adminned, on my own server,

so I check the player list and find out that Badspot's the host!

Understandably, I'm quite upset at this, so I pull out a hammer and try to attack one of them.

However, I never actually reached him.

I think aliens did it, there's no way they just became morons like this.
Discuss.

EDIT: Turns out aliens didn't do this; kompressor's brainwashing them!

This can't be good.

EDIT: kompressor's plans are coming quickly, we're all doomed!

EDIT: Oh god, that's just rubbing it in ;_;

Now Badspot's just deliberately loving with me :C

EDIT: My cover is SO not blown.
What if OP is Badspot's alt account while he secretly takes over Blockland?!

I call conspiracy!

They've found me out... Very well, you've brought this upon yourself! Not only am I in on Badspot's scheme to take over Blockland, I AM ALSO KOMPRESSOR'S RIGHT HAND MAN!

YOU CANNOT STAND AGAINST THE DARKNESS!

EDIT: The rebels will fall.

You cannot stop the Lord of Shadows.

EDIT: Oh god lol

This is quite fun to do.

The events above never occured.
This is just to prove that not all pictures are genuine,
and that no drama pictures can be proved accurate.

Add-Ons / Regions
« on: April 21, 2012, 03:37:40 PM »
DOWNLOAD

Old Versions:
Regions V1

Regions is effectively the exact same deal as setPlayerTransform, but slightly more of a pain in the ass.
Why would anyone want to use it, then?

It allows the teleportation of multiple players at once.

The events are Player > setRegion (Name), Player > clearRegion, and Brick > shiftRegion [New name, transit time, and shift amount].

The shift amount is an amount in studs, and the directions are North, East, and Up in that order. To shift someone up one brick, use 0 0 3 - which means six bricks and two studs directly up is 0 0 20.

EDIT: I have reformatted the inputs of shiftRegion. However, to preserve old events, the new one is called shiftRegion_V2.

shiftRegion_V2   [Shift amount, transit time, new region name, transit message (leave blank for none.)]

Everything is better with eye scanners.

Gaze is a server modification which allows you to trigger brick events based upon when a player looks at a brick. There are three different inputs you can use, all of which have different effects.

  • onGaze          Called repeatedly while you look at a brick.
  • onGazeStart   Called once, when you start looking at a brick - this counts if you go from one brick to another!
  • onGazeStop    Called once, when you stop looking at a brick - this counts if you go from one brick to another!

There's also a setGazeName output event! Well, what does this do?

Gaze lets you see player names. While you can't set the gaze names of players (for OBVIOUS REASONS), you can set the names of bricks. These names can be anything from "Click the light to turn it on" (toggling to "turn it off" when clicked) to "Nuclear Launch Button". Never have people wonder what that obscure control panel does again!

The range of your Gaze can be set in the RTB preferences. The range is 0-100 in Torque Units. Do NOT complain about the gaze maximum being too short - one hundred TU is three 64x64 baseplates end to end and then another eight block studs!

onGaze can be toggled on and off in RTB preferences as well. While the event will still be available, only onGazeEnter and onGazeLeave will be triggered.

The entire Gaze mod can be set to one of four settings: Bricks, Players, and Bots; Players and Bots; Bricks Only; or Sightless.
Minigame support enabling/disabling via prefs is not yet included. This will be added when I de-lazy.

Below is some large text that says download.
If you cannot find the large text that says download,
I simply cannot and will not help you.

EDIT: Direct link to the download page so you don't have to do it yourself

Off Topic / Gravity Wells
« on: April 05, 2012, 10:40:23 AM »
I love doing things like this:

The blue planet is a planet of 'normal' matter - it pulls on the object tracing the yellow line. The yellow planet is a planet of 'negative' matter - it pushes the object tracing the line away. By adding planets of various sizes, I can get things like this.

And of course, by adding more or larger planets of both positive and negative matter, I can create incredibly interesting orbits, some of which are actually stable.

(The white lines are equigravitation lines - gravity is the same at those lines.)

Off Topic / A random City of Heroes raid

I once got a full team of Heroes together and we raided the Villain base. :D

It was fun, a lot of stuff blew up.

Viruses are right up my alley. To a regular end-user of computers they may be unstoppable and whatnot, but I can get rid of the meat of them with cmd and taskmgr.

qlg.exe is a virus strain which renames itself based on which version of Windows it's on. Its effect is a typical "you have a virus, pay us" gambit - but they made two stupid mistakes.

One - I don't trust any anti-virus software I didn't install.
Two - I REALLY don't trust ANYTHING which is on my computer, claims to be from Microsoft, and wants money.

The name qlg.exe operates under is "Vista Security 2012" and it changes extension settings so that whenever you launch anything ending with .exe, the virus is launched instead. It also fails to account for a few things.

It allows use of the command prompt. The command prompt does NOT use extension settings for .exe files.
I'm an experienced computer user. I may not have the default Windows processes memorized, but I know a illegitimate description when I see it.

The virus's description in the Task Manager is "Error Reporting Service" - a function of Windows which is NOT a unique executable and runs as part of other Windows .exes.

Yeah, no. Goodbye, nice try, and then I ran Malwarebytes on its ass.

Add-Ons / Bug-Me-Not
« on: December 28, 2011, 07:02:34 PM »
Return to Blockland's processing queue will take a while and I feel this add-on needs to get out there NOW, so here's an early release!*

*Please note: This topic will be locked when Bug-Me-Not gets through RTB's queue.

   What this isn't:
• Black magic
• The answer to life, the universe, and everything
• Vigorously idiot-proofed

    What this is:
• A client-sided add-on for ignoring trust invites, minigame invites, and irritating players

    What this can do:
• Automatically reject trust invites and minigame invites
• Ignore non-admin players
• Make your day a lot less infuriating

What this refuses to do for your own safety and the safety of others:
• Ignore admins
• Ignore you

This add-on will ignore three different types of invites. These are build trust invites, full trust invites, and minigame invites. You can set the levels for each of them to any of these three:
• Allow - Automatically allows all invites of this type to be seen by the user. (You can still reject.)
• Filter - Allows invites only from those who possess at least one bypass ticket.*
• Reject - Rejects ALL invites REGARDLESS of whether the sender has tickets or not.

*Q: Tickets? What are tickets?
A: Tickets are Bug-Me-Not's way of allowing people to get through the Filter type. You have three buttons under the Ticket Controls section:
• Raise - Gives the selected player one ticket.
• Lower - Removes one ticket from the player.
• Clear - Clears ALL the player's tickets outright.

Q: How does ignoring work?
A: Ignoring is done by pressing the "Ignore selected player" button. Ignoring is BL_ID-linked and will NOT ignore any server admins. It will merely darken their name to a dark yellow.

• Moby1997 & DannyBoy - Being unknowing victims of an admin anti-ignore test.
• Ephialtes - Making the RTB Downloads System.
