nah they use static shapes. iirc they still work in modern bl

hey man, i don't know who you are or even remember making a drama thread about you but i want to apologize. it seems stupid to let stuff like that bother you but i'd be lying if i said my feelings hadn't been hurt over what people have said to me online in the past. it's really easy to pick apart someone else and make them feel like stuff without even considering the long-term effect it might have on them; i was extremely guilty of it and would hate to be remembered for that. it seems you've turned out to be a good enough dude, please don't take anything i might have said to hurt you in the past to heart.

no, i wasnt even aware this program existed. i wrote a (probably not very good) program in nodejs utilising wget which runs through every topic id and downloads them (along with detecting for extra pages and following them too), with functions for downloading attachments and getting source photobucket images. doing all this with my login cookies to bypass the forum word filter.
i have yet to download profiles though

Yeah, that's true. But I want something client-side that doesn't rely on a server. Maybe something I can save on a hard drive?

at the very start of 2019 i ran a custom downloader on the blf to download every blf topic (along with almost every linked image and attached files). right now its not in a browsable state however, as its just raw html files not yet localised or put in a proper (searchable!) database.
the total size of the archive is 145.1gb, though just the html files is only 25.8gb. once parsed into a database, this would reduce the filesize quite a bit i imagine

I think v21 was a great update because it shifted the focus from half-assed splerg fests in maps like bedroom and actually forced people to actually build maps,

i think you're entirely forgetting that people still downloaded brick maps (most commonly ive seen brick-bedroom) and just used them to host servers on. this hasn't changed from v20 to v21, it still happens.

actually forced people to actually build maps, which turn out looking better than interiors and terrain anyway.

i literally just explained why they look worse then v20s maps but okay ignore if you want

There is even a great terrain generator by GSF-Ghost, who made plenty of cool maps

thats a great terrain generator but it's not infinite, its difficult to ride vehicles on it and is way more performance heavy then v20's simple terrain.

I think people are lazy and didn't want to build their own maps.

I built that toystore with modter bricks and packaged it in a gamemode.

So making your own maps can be done like that, people are loving lazy

ah so making/modelling interiors and torque maps isn't difficult at all?
you building and packaging your toystore is extremely similar to people modelling and packaging maps back in the day. it's just that now in v21 "maps" run so much slower, lack any real texturing and lack any lighting. plus all previous efforts people put into their maps (some people put a lot of effort into their maps) were suddenly thrown away with no foreseeable way of them returning. its pretty clear why people hated (and some still hate) v21
