Forum Games / Hostage - Part Nine + Ten
« on: May 13, 2012, 05:39:01 PM »

You awake to an awkwardly wide-spaced and tinged room with the only objects being a boarded and bolted door, a small end-table with a knife and a window with a guard facing the opposite direction. The window is glossed heavily and the bolts on the door look like titanium mixed with steel. You have no idea how you got here or even what time it is, but you suddenly feel much more scared than you've ever been.

What do you do first?

such as an avatar that's been pretty much associated with that person
like you see them using it all the time
I remember bolster's nice guy avatar and comedy666herpe's ymca cat
then like snot's monster truck avatar and rave's deadmau5 thing
but for all of the constituents present, who do you think has the more superior-ly iconic avatar?

Off Topic / Civil War vs World War II
« on: April 21, 2012, 11:58:03 AM »
Which war do you think revolutionised warfare/the world more?

The Civil War introduced automatic weapons (the Gatling gun) which would malfunction a lot, improved ammunition that would increase damage in wounds (the mini-ball), introduced repeating rifles (the Henry, Spencer, and Winchester), and introduced improved accuracy in weapons (the Springfield musket) which included grooved barrels. Not to mention self-contained cartridges (prototype to the modern style bullet with powder already within a cartridge with the projectile facing outwards).
On the navy side, they introduced ironclads which improved defense of ships. They also introduced the prototype to the tank; aka an ironclad with a submarine's body (mostly submerged underwater with the exception of its rotating turret) and a large cylinder which contained a cannon that was protected by more iron and could be rotated near-360 degrees (see: U.S.S. Monitor)
Also, the military telegraph system was then introduced under Lincoln's presidency in a genius way to communicate more efficiently. Plus, they also experimented with their weapons which would pave the way to our weapons today; such as the LeMat revolver which included a standard revolver with an underbarrel shotgun attachment that could fire either simultaneously with the revolver or one at a time.
Not to mention the addition of the railroad system as a warfare tool (only used once during the war at the Battle of Manassas/Battle of Bullrun by the Confederacy). It introduced, however, more ways to deliver supplies and transport for troops. Also, medical care slightly advanced since the Revolutionary War and the Mexican-American War with the help of Clara Barton, an active nurse that either treated soldiers on the front line or after battle. Her methods increased the ways to aid soldiers (see: triage).

World War II fixed the issues with other common automatic weapons and set forth the sub-machine gun and assault rifle (more refined than those present in WWI). World War II also introduced advances in medical care when wounded and increased on the self-contained cartridges introduced in the Civil War. With all of this other stuff happening to then-common warfare, the newest inventions to grace the world were just getting started.
With naval warfare completely blown out of the water by the time of '39, the all-new armoured artillery called tanks that would invent an entirely new tactic called "blitzkrieg," and the brand-spankin'-new air warfare made this war something to see. Up into World War I, in order to fight wars people would perform Napoleonic tactics. AKA, line up and fire. Line up and fire. It slowly evolved into trench warfare introduced in World War I and just said, "Dude, you can get stomped on by rolling metal that can blast your face off, you can get bombed by things flying overhead, and you can be shot from anywhere with this newly-added accuracy in weapons!"
Technically, all of this new stuff made it impossible to hide. Not to mention World War II also introduced new technology including radar, the jet engine, absolutely ridiculously effective bombers, and massive new bombs to go with them. This now brings us to our final point of World War II: the atomic bomb.
The atomic bomb reshaped warfare and caused several other wars to start because of it. It made everyone paranoid (and still does) to the devastating destruction that it performs.

So, forums, which war do you believe revolutionised warfare/the world?

are you for it being repealed and completely reenacting the dred scott case that rendered all past acts unconstitutional and destroyed most of our beliefs
or are you for it being passed and giving us higher average taxes at the expense of healthcare for everyone amongst other things?

luigi's Self Delete
luigi's mansion is an all around creepy game with good fun packed in with colourful cartoon ghosts to keep you on your toes
thanks to urban legends spreading faster than aids on the message boards of several websites, they claim that if you stand in a specific spot in a certain room and wait for lightning to strike, you'll see a shadow of luigi's shadow hanging there
video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbpmMmc4ob0&feature=player_embedded
it's as if he used rope or the vacuum tube to do the job

obviously a very creepy glitch
...or is it?
many also suspect that the game was intended originally to be much darker than it is now

much darker.

shadow people from hell valley galaxy
super mario galaxy never fails to entertain me
the second, however, I have a different opinion

if the play heads on over to the first level of the shiverburn galaxy, turn left, go into first person camera, and look at the cliffs, they'll see this:

someone hacked into the game's codes and found the original skybox file eerily named "hellvalleyskytree":

evidently not trees, people have suspected that they're leftover textures from the beta of the game, as told from the folder from which the file was pulled from, beyondhellvalley

video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xu0vtkU02uM&feature=player_embedded

nobody ever mentions these people, but they follow you around the entire map (they're part of the skybox, durr)
creepy nonetheless, and odder than nintendo was potentially going to make a game for kids with the word hell in it
there's already fanfictions and more theories that they're the natives of the lands mario goes to (people have reported seeing the same skybox and people in the grandmaster galaxy)

Games / earthbound is about abortion.
« on: March 17, 2012, 11:19:50 AM »
earthbound is a happy game with bright colours where you walk around as children beating up bugs and robots and things using baseball bats and yo-yos.
that's accurate for about 95% of the game, however.

the last hour of the game is a different story
first off, the children have their souls ripped out of their bodies and put into robots
when you finally reach giygas, the final alien boss entity, things turn truly disturbing.

the middle portion of him looks ridiculously like an endoscopic picture of a woman's cervix
that isn't a coincidence, as we'll discover as you battle him longer

he resembles a fetus in the early stages of conception

and after that he resembles an andy warhol interpretation of a fetus

a commonly accepted theory is that the four characters travel back in time to when the alien is at its weakest, in short, as a fetus. so ness and his friends beat up the conception and leave, saving the world.

did I mention that the name of this game in japan in called Mother.

if you read above and are trying to whine about how it's all fake because I used the word "theory", it's been proven by the game's creator, shigeasto itoi. he claims it from a traumatic childhood experience when he walked into a japanese rape film
he wanted to show the aftermath
or you know, fix what he'd seen
so he made a game called mother to kill the rapist's fetus
