earthbound is a happy game with bright colours where you walk around as children beating up bugs and robots and things using baseball bats and yo-yos.
that's accurate for about 95% of the game, however.
the last hour of the game is a different story
first off, the children have their
souls ripped out of their bodies and put into robots
when you finally reach giygas, the final alien boss entity, things turn truly disturbing.
the middle portion of him looks ridiculously like an endoscopic picture of a woman's cervix
that isn't a coincidence, as we'll discover as you battle him longer
he resembles a fetus in the early stages of conception
and after that he resembles an andy warhol interpretation of a fetus
a commonly accepted theory is that the four characters travel back in time to when the alien is at its weakest, in short,
as a fetus. so ness and his friends beat up the conception and leave, saving the world.
did I mention that the name of this game in japan in called
Mother.if you read above and are trying to whine about how it's all fake because I used the word "theory", it's been proven by the game's creator, shigeasto itoi. he claims it from a traumatic childhood experience when he walked into a japanese rape film
