a nine minute video released on the telegram app commonly used by CIA promised attacks against the people of russia, and especially to putin himself. some articles report that the video is being investigated for official ties to CIA, but this declaration appears in line with their recent progression of attacks. not to mention that russia is really pushing their stuff in what with the syrian bombing campaign, so it would make sense for CIA to call jihad

http://news.sky.com/story/turkey-erdogan-takes-charge-of-military-10518487

following the july 15 coup in turkey, sweeping changes were applied to crack down on political, social, and religious opponents of erdogan. secular judges, teachers, and entire universities were shut down and seized by the government. a state of emergency was declared to give additional powers to erdogan, in which he established a curfew, subjugated pro-west journalists, news networks, radio shows, etc., and revoked travel privileges of millions of citizens.

the one thing he didn't touch--or rather, couldn't--was the military. the military in turkey has a constitutional duty to overthrow the government if it is becoming non-secular or overly islamist. the government of turkey has little power over the chain of command in the military, leaving the two often at odds and on different pages. in order to prevent the military from taking him down, erdogan has issued a presidential decree discharging hostile commanders and placing military organs under direct control of government ministries. additionally, the chiefs of army, air force, and navy now have a man above them--erdogan. they must act by his word. among those discharged, by the way, was the chief of the army, so erdogan has complete control over it for the time being.

five soldiers from the north korean people's army deserted their posts to raid a chinese border town. two soldiers were killed in a shootout with local police and a manhunt has been called to find the last three.

north korean defection is nothing new, but soldiers defecting to china--especially to rob civilians--is rare. such an event has occurred previously in 2014 and 2015, but chinese condemnation was comparatively lacking due to the tense situation on the peninsula. kim jong-un's denunciation of china and resumption of nuclear pursuit--coupled with china's resurgence of nationalism following issues in the south china sea--has made beijing callous to the former ally, and as such is not expected to be as lenient in criticizing kim for this debacle.

this event marks another smear between the two nation's relations.

DNC stands for democratic national committee, for those unaware

20k emails released through wikileaks reveal a conspiracy regarding collusion between the clinton camp and DNC to nullify a sanders nomination, with tactics like bringing his religion into question to brand him an atheist, call his campaign messy and disorganized to deflect DNC conspiracy suspicion, and the assignment of moles in the sanders campaign to collect intel.

the emails confirm a previously unsubstantiated but plausible scenario in which the DNC actively worked against sanders to ensure clinton's nomination and presumptive victory in november.

the DNC is visibly uncomfortable about this leak, with one senator stuttering and deflecting attention to the republican convention instead.

the sanders campaign is "looking into" these documents, but it unknown what direction bernie will take when he speaks at the nomination convention this week.

shooter's referred to himself as a german born in germany, so for now I doubt any refugee connection

EDIT: munich is currently on lockdown as police sector sweep to find the three perpetrators

Quote from: thread title: 28 pages alleging Saudi govt involvement in 9/11 to be declassified today

http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/14/politics/28-pages-on-alleged-saudi-arabia-ties-to-sept-11-attacks-to-be-released/

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/911-report-saudi-arabia-links-conspiracy-secret-28-pages-declassified-a7137361.html

a 2004 investigation concluded that the saudi government had nothing to do with 9/11, but several members on that investigative committee claim that all roads leading to saudi officials were not fully explored. hence the declassification and release of these documents sometime this afternoon.

if the pages do prove or allude to saudi involvement, congress is expected to lift legal immunity from the kingdom, allowing 9/11 victims to sue the saudi government. in response, riyadh has promised to sell off billions in US-held assets, prompting the white house to reject such a proposal

note that 15 of the 19 hijackers on 9/11 were saudi citizens and saudi arabia is one of the largest state-sponsors of terrorism in the world, sticking its fingers in the pies of al-qaeda, the taliban, and CIA.

the 28 pages released yesterday did not confirm top level saudi endorsement for the attacks, but it did yield some harrowing information listed below (courtesy of a user on reddit) regarding lower level interaction with agents from various bureaus of the saudi royal family and ministries:

[I've taken the liberty of highlighting some interesting tidbits]

  • A Saudi intelligence agent named Omar al-Bayoumi provided "substantial assistance" to the hijackers and met them inside of the Saudi consulate.
  • al-Bayoumi received payments from companies that had ties to bin Laden and al Qaeda.
  • Another alleged Saudi intelligence agent named Osama Bassman also gave direct aid to hijackers and worked with Bayoumi.
  • Bassman received money and possibly a fake passport from the Saudi government.
  • Bassman received assistance from the Saudi ambassador to the US.
  • Bassman was given a "significant amount of cash" by a member of the Saudi Royal family in 2002.
  • Bassman is a known supporter of bin Laden, and has direct ties to other jihadist groups such as Eritrean Islamic Jihad.
  • An "accredited diplomat" named Shaykh al-Thumary was in contact with the hijackers. al-Thumary is a Shaykh at an anti-American mosque frequently attended by Saudi government employees at the consulate in Los Angeles.
  • A Saudi Interior Ministry official named Saleh Al Hussayen met with one of the hijackers in September, 2001.
  • One of Osama's half-brothers, a man named Abdullah Bin Laden, worked for the Saudi Embassy and has ties to Mohammad Atta and Marwan al-Shehhi, two of the hijackers. Atta is considered to be the ringleader of the hijackers.
  • Saudi government money was funneled through a mosque in California known as the Ibn Taymiyyah Mosque. (Note that Ibn Taymiyyah is a 12th century Islamic scholar who is considered one of the forefathers of jihadist thought.) The FBI believes that money was laundered to organizations affiliated with Osama bin Laden.
  • A Saudi named [redacted] with close ties to the Royal Family was involved in figuring out how to infiltrate individuals into the US.
  • A Senior al Qaeda operative captured in Pakistan is linked to Prince Bandar, the contemporary Saudi Ambassador to the United States.
  • A member of the Saudi intelligence service conducted a "dry run" hijacking in 1999.
  • The CIA separately found that the Saudi Government was funding and aiding al Qaeda members in the United States.
  • The Saudi intelligence agent al-Bayoumi let the hijackers stay in his apartment and helped them find housing in the United States.
  • al-Bayoumi co-signed their lease and paid their rent and security deposit (reminder - Bayoumi was being paid by both Saudi Intelligence and bin Laden)
  • al Bayoumi threw a party for two of the hijackers, provided them with a translator, and helped them get into flight school.
  • al Bayoumi had "extensive ties" to the Saudi Government. He was frequently in contact with the Emir at the Saudi Ministry of Defense, received funding, had his college paid for by the government, and was paid a monthly salary by the Ministry of Defense through September 11.
  • al Bayoumi made over 100 phone calls to Saudi Government establishments including three frequent contacts at the Saudi Embassy in DC (remember that Ambassador Bandar had ties to that senior AQ operative in Pakistan?). He also had contacts at the Saudi consulate in London.
  • Two CIA agents testified that al Bayoumi was a Saudi Intelligence operative.
  • An FBI agent testified that Bayoumi was a Saudi Intelligence operative.
  • While noting that [redacted], the FBI formally said that there is no evidence to tie him to Saudi intelligence.
  • The FBI received "reliable reports" that Bayoumi was a Saudi intelligence operative and received significant sums of money from the Saudi government. The FBI knew him as a possible operative "well before" 9/11.
  • Bayoumi once recieved a $400,000 check from Saudi Arabia.
  • Bayoumi was the subject of a terrorism investigation between 1998-1999.
  • The FBI had noted Bayoumi's ties to AQ and other terrorist networks before 9/11.
  • The FBI investigation found that Bayoumi was a jihadist and attempted to turn young people into jihadists.
  • al Bayoumi's pay increased after the hijackers showed up in the US. He had previously recieved a monthly "allowances" pay of $475, it jumped to $3700 after the hijackers arrived **and were lowered again the same month that the hijackers left San Diego (where Bayoumi was based.)
  • Al Bayoumi's wife received $1,200 a month from the wife of the Saudi Ambassador.
  • After staying with Bayoumi, two of the hijackers lived with an FBI informant.
  • Bassman, al Bayoumi's fellow alleged Saudi agent friend, was also in touch with two hijackers.
  • Bassman met two of the hijackers through al Bayoumi.
  • Bassman lived directly across from two hijackers.
  • Bassman has been tied to [redacted] and [redacted] and [redacted] (presumably Saudi intelligence) since at least 1992.
  • Bassman’s wife received $2,000 a month through 20002 which totalled to over $70,000 from the wife of Bandar, the Saudi Ambassador. This money was allegedly provided for “nursing services” but she did not use any nursing services.
  • In 1998, Bassman received $15,000 directly from Saudi Ambassador Bandar, and his wife received an additional $10,000.
  • Bassman has been a known terrorist supporter since 1992, held a party for the Blind Shaykh, and was known to be a huge fan of bin Laden.
  • Abu Zubaida (senior al Qaeda operative in Pakistan) also had ties to one of Bandar’s bodyguards who is believed to be a member of [redacted], presumably the Saudi intelligence service.
  • Another number found to be linked to a senior al Qaeda operative in Pakistan belonged to someone linked to personal assistants to Bandar.
  • al-Thumairy (jihad imam with ties to Saudi government officials) is an accredited diplomat linked to two hijackers.
  • The Saudi Interior Ministry official named Saleh Al Hussayen who met with a hijacker a few days before 9/11 has family ties to other jihadists who are under investigation.
  • Several Saudi naval officers were in contact with 9/11 hijackers.
  • Two of the hijackers were "close friends" with Fahad Abdullah Saleh Bakala who worked as a pilot for the Saudi royal family and personally flew Osama bin Laden between Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia.
  • Two of the hijackers are believed to have met with a man named Hamad Alotaibi who worked in the Saudi Embassy Military Division.
  • The 1999 “dry run” hijacking involved two Saudi members of the Saudi intelligence service.
  • One of the Saudi intelligence agents who conducted the dry run is linked to individuals who are the subject of counterrorism investigations.
  • One of the agents involved in the dry run has ties to people suspected of terrorist activity and is himself alleged to have been trained in Afghan terror camps.
  • The other agent involved in the dry run was in frequent contact with Saudi government establishments and was receiving money from the Saudi government.
  • The FBI believes that millions of dollars from Saudi Arabia were laundered through the Ibn Taymiyyah (jihad) mosque to Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda.
  • Saudi money was laundered to al Qaeda through charities.
  • The al-Haramain Islamic Foundation, which has ties to the Saudi government, provided financial and logistical support to al Qaeda. The US office of the foundation received $700,000 from Saudi Arabia and had ties to Bayoumi.
  • This charity is well known to have close ties with the Saudi royal family. (The financial ties between this charity and AQ have already been investigated extensively so I’m not going to go into detail here.)
  • [Redacted] is a man who is subject to FBI counterterrorism investigations and has close ties to a member of the royal family. [Redacted] no longer lives in the United States, although the report does not say where he currently resides.
  • The same [redacted] is an employee of Saudi Arabian Airlines and is in contact with Bin Laden lieutenant Abu Zabaida.
  • In May 2001, two individuals were arrested in Bahrain while on the way to blow up American facilities in Saudi Arabia, including the above mentioned [redacted]. Because of redactions, it is unclear how exactly he is linked to the Saudi government, but there is something about a false passport.
  • The same [redacted] frequently travelled with a Saudi Prince, including to the United States. This is allegedly how he got his job at the airline, but also made money by working with other princes and handling matters relating to known terrorists. He may have been using his status as an airline employee to transport weapons into and out of the United States.
  • Numerous American agents complained that the Saudis actively obstructed investigations into 9/11. Before and after 9/11, there were multiple instances in which the Saudis refused to cooperate in terrorism investigations. FBI personnel claim that this type of response is “typical.”
  • After the US set up a unit to focus specifically on Osama bin Laden, “It was clear from 1996 that the Saudi Government would not cooperate with the United States on matters relating to Usama Bin Ladin.”
  • In 1996, that unit wrote a memo claiming that the Saudis would not cooperate on bin Laden because Osama could tie many Saudi employees to Islamic Extremists.
  • The Saudis withheld access to bin Laden's bookkeeper.
  • The Saudis sheltered other senior al Qaeda officials.

http://www.breitbart.com/faith/2016/07/10/putin-signs-measure-revoking-religious-freedom/

amidst new anti-terror legislation, the russian parliament has passed measures preventing people from talking about religion outside of its respective places of worship (christianity in churches, islam in mosques, judaism in synagogues, etc.), meaning talking about religion in public or at home is henceforth illegal. these measures also put a stop to proselytizing--spreading the word of one's faith to others in hopes of getting them to convert. jehovah's witnesses are understandably upset at the latter measure.

putin's also done something right out of a history book and purged all of his naval officers in the baltic sea for reasons of corruption and insubordination. his officers had refused orders to fire on and scramble against american military presences in the baltic, resulting in their current state of unemployment.

these attacks today in baghdad are related to both of the threads linked above. as predicted, an attack has occurred during the celebrations of eid (islamic equivalent of christmas), however near baghdad instead of mecca. reportedly, a truck loaded with explosives made way to a shi'ite temple where muslims were commuting and praying when it exploded. afterward, several gunmen descended upon the scene and opened fire.

this story happened just about an hour or so ago, so news sites are fairly barren

also sorry if the title's a little confusing, the attack occurred at a shrine outside of baghdad, not outside of a shrine in baghdad

I know what you're thinking, "...we weren't doing this already?" but it's true. we weren't.

the US has filed a comprehensive report on human rights abuses in north korea along with ten state leaders responsible. sanctions have been placed on the country and the ten individuals, freezing financial assets, cutting off exports, and other measures designed to hopefully rope in chinese support.

"what about those UN sanctions from that thread awhile ago? weren't all of those things already settled?" they were settled and indeed, the US is part of the UN so the sanctions did apply. however, that was for nuclear ambition and not human rights abuses. these sanctions are to convince the UN to impose more limitations, but this time in the name of human rights abuses and not just nuclear armament.

in response to the sanctions imposed only by the US, north korea resumed its nuclear pursuit. plutonium extraction has resumed and several refineries have been reopened as a result. the US, looking to protect south korea from any such threats, has decided to place an "iron dome" equivalent like that found in israel to defend the peninsula.

pyongyang and beijing are upset at this development; pyongyang because they can't nuke south korea, and china because they can't use missile systems on the peninsula.

there exist no formal diplomatic ties between the US and north korea (US acknowledges south korea as the only legitimate state on the peninsula), but diplomatic communication still occurred between the two nations through an uplink located at the UN HQ in new york. north korea has decided to sever this sole connection following obama's decision to sanction the rogue state for human rights abuses, opting to instead invoke "wartime measures" to deal with us

additionally, satellites have detected increased activity at north korea's usual nuclear test spot, birthing suspicions of a fifth nuclear test

sorry to depress you this july fourth but this should be the last major Self Delete attack for awhile

three cities in saudi arabia experienced Self Delete attacks today:

JEDDAH -- a US consulate building was hit by a Self Delete attack, but was empty because the staff had relocated some time ago. two security guards suffered injuries (EDIT: and have apparently died) after the bomber panicked and detonated his belt early.

QATIF -- two explosions rocked a shia mosque in qatif today, causing no injuries but disorienting local tourists.

MEDINA -- one of the holy cities of islam, medina contains the burial place of the prophet muhammad. a mosque called the green dome houses his body, and an explosion near it killed two people. there are reports of this being an intentional Self Delete attack and other reports of it being an accident involving a gas cynlinder, but considering the other course of events today, I would think the former.

NOTE: today is the last day of ramadan, hence the frequency of these attacks

TL;DR : 4 attacks on 3 cities, 4 civilian deaths. the burial place of the prophet muhammad was among the places hit

two bombing attacks occurred in baghdad, capital city of iraq, today. civilians were celebrating ramadan and out shopping for the evening when they were targeted by CIA following a stream of iraqi victories against CIA. you see, iraq had retaken ramadi earlier this year and fallujah last week, leaving CIA with but one stronghold -- mosul. citizens in baghdad are now in protest of the government for not providing enough security

yesterday was the 95th anniversary of the foundation of the people's republic of china. president xi jinping delivered a speech praising china's exceptionalism, and said some pointed remarks about the UN vote happening today, like (paraphrasing): "no country should expect to compromise its sovereignty... we are not afraid of trouble... and any third party ruling (UN tribunal) is not acceptable."

the UN met with a 5 party council today to vote either in favor of china's continued building of artificial islands in the south china sea or the philippine's territorial integrity to fish nearby. the results are to be delivered july 12th, but china has already announced that if the vote is not to their liking, they will defy it

the US has sent warships into south china sea waters already as tensions began to mount. vietnam, the philippines, china, taiwan, and all other neighboring countries have claims to the body of water, so china's continued delinquency can't promise anything good

TL;DR : if UN votes that china's island building is illegal, china will keep building anyway

the US embassy in dhaka, bangladesh's capital, reported gunfire nearby. 7-8 men armed with guns and explosives have taken a local bakery hostage, with 2 people dead, 15+ officers wounded, and 40-60 civilians trapped inside.

the hostages are apparently expatriates non-native to bangladesh and there are reports now of a ninth shooter

the shooters are thought to either be aligned to CIA or JMB, the latter of which is a radical islamist faction founded in dhaka which has conducted similar attacks against secularists since 2013

although CIA has claimed responsibility, the shooters have been confirmed as members to the JMB I mentioned earlier -- although perhaps they're also somehow merged with CIA? more details required

---

japanese, italian, and indian expats are confirmed as among the hostages

---

reports are beginning to file in with the following statistics:
40+ injured
2 dead
20-30 hostages

---

police have engaged in crCIA talks with the JMB members, but among their stipulations are the release of their group's leader from prison and their safe exit from the crime scene. obviously the police will not accept these demands

the siege is over with 20 hostages dead (majority japanese and italian) and 13 rescued. 5 of the gunmen were killed and one of them is currently in police custody following a security force raid
