So does the game really run without an engine? If so, how does it do that? I was under the assumption that every video game needs an engine in order to work. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding what an engine is.
This game doesn't have an engine in the common sense of third party software or libraries.
Torque is an engine, Unity is an engine, Source is an engine etc.
I'm not using anything like that. Though if you want to be technical, you could say I developed my own engine.

I am really looking forward to trying this sometime soon. From the screenshots I am seeing its reminding me of Pre-v21 Blockland a lot and I am just feeling so nostalgic about it.

...in fact, is it possible to eventually add a brick-building system kind of like Blocklands? Oh man, imagine it! That would be so awesome.
Some earlier demos I had worked on did have building systems.
Though I would feel weird making a game designed to be like Blockland.
Would I be any better than Kalphiter?

Also, someone joined the game.
IDK who, but someone joined, spammed "testing", left, joined again, typed a random string of letters, then left again.

I've fixed the game for people like Mr Queeba who could start up the program just to have it crash when it tried to load the shaders. Additionally there is now a water level.

Should be on the way to fixing the not starting errors.
This is kinda the priority right now.

I prefer this so long as its legal and not against general accepted morals.
This is more limiting that you can imagine.

So... yolo?

I never really got why YOLO meant "do crazy stuff who cares if you die".
You'd think it would mean "be really loving careful and worried because you've only got one life and if you waste it you're done" but I guess not.

Posted new screenshots to this thread.
Also made a thread advertising it in the Gamedev forums.

Next thing to do might be create an accounts system. That or perhaps making emitters and lights serverside. Still trying to decide my next step.

Did you do this by yourself? If so I am VERY impressed man. This looks really great.
Thanks a bunch!
Yeah, I've been making this from scratch, no engine or anything :)

doesn't work on linux :-'(
You mean with Wine?
Sucks, but not exactly unexpected. Next time I'm home I'll make a Linux port on my Linux computer.

Also, I'm looking for help figuring out why it seems so many computers have troubles starting the program:

Actually you have the wrong picture. Each frame doesn't take the same amount of time to render, it depends on how complex the scene is. And about the frame rate, movies are usually 24 frames per second. It's rare that a movie is 30 frames or 60 frames per second.
Ah.

Is it just me or is it weird that Frozen sold out almost three times as much (Frozen had just over a billion in sales, Lego movie had less than 400 million) yet here the poll shows the lego movie leading in a land slide?

Are Europeans the same way?
I'm not European, but I would say they're probably a good bit more open about it.

In my soc class my prof actually gave a few examples around the world of this kind of thing.
In japan they actually have a snake festival, I think this is it:

Weird stuff, but ultimately harmless.

edit:
Thing is if men don't imminently recoil form the sight of a richard they're assumed gay and that's bad.
And if women don't, then they're sluts.

Same thing really doesn't happen with vaginas lol
These days (at least here anyway) you're probably not going to see a man get insulted for being too promiscuous or a woman for being lesbian.

Apparently one frame in Frozen took 150 hours (around that time I guess) to render.
That seems a bit high.
It's running time was 102 minutes, or 6120 seconds.
IDK what the framerate but 60 seems like a decent guess, as it's the refresh rate of most monitors and max fps of games that limit fps.
That's 367,200 frames.
That's 55,080,000 hours.
Or 6287 years.

Even if they had 6287 computers running simultaneously that'd still take a whole year to render.
