Off Topic / Re: Does anyone else not trust courts/judges
« on: October 21, 2016, 06:27:39 PM »
court systems are complicated, there are so many judges in this country in so many specialized courts and so many cases taken that there's bound to be some error along the way, but you can always appeal to a higher court if you really need to (until you get to SCOTUS), and if they take the case then hopefully they can change the ruling. having unelected judges (like federal courts and certain states) means that they don't have to worry about being politicians that have to appeal to the masses as republicans or democrats, they can just be judges. most of these weird cases you see probably happen in local court systems where facts are hazy. for the most part, juries and judges are on average, reasonable means of interpreting law for a given set of facts, but obviously, people are human and make mistakes.

thinking of getting this actually, is it like civ 5 where you need all the dlc to actually enjoy it?
nope, the vanilla game definitely feels complete so far. still waiting to hear more about mods, i'm hoping they make good on their promises

the menu looks very placeholder-y compared to earlier games if you ask me
it's neater in game when you can see the ui animation and stuff, but ya i see what you mean

Okay condescensing spy, I know some people have uninformed opinions, but with the information at hand, the results just don't add up.
did you seriously just call someone "condescending spy" and then write:

I know some people have uninformed opinions

are you pulling a joke on us? is this a jape? a prank?

game just unlocked :]

multiplayer mods super easy to get running apparently, simultaneous turns is now default (praise the forgetin lord), and there's an "online" turn speed option which is twice as fast, which is interesting

documents folders from civ 5 and civ 6 for comparison, oddly the default mods aren't here which is slightly weird but probably fine as long they aren't given any extra capabilities

was this always a thing

first impressions after playing for about three hours: It's Good. Real F*kn good. probably won't go back to civ 5

ugh but it's just like detracting from the main purpose of it and taking resources that could be used to play more super loving mario !!! in higher quality and greater framerates
like it's trying to do too much at once, you feel? kind of like the XBOX TONEV
i don't know how resource-intensive android is, but yeah it'd probably be heavier than a custom nintendo OS built specifically to play nintendo games. not sure if it'd make too much a difference, but it would mean that people who have lots of background apps running will experience differences in performance. using android would also mean they have to develop ways for android to run the cartridge-based games, which i imagine won't have to be installed, but we'll see. i'm definitely looking forward to hearing more about how software is going to be distributed.

It would still have the potential to confuse younger kids and non-tech savvy adults. Plus having it run android would open the console up to reverse engineering, possible viruses, piracy, stuff like that.
you could probably have some kind of option somewhere to "restart in android" rather than prompting at startup but yeah i don't see how it'd be a practical decision for nintendo

Nothing is going to stop reverse engineering on a Nintendo product. Hell the Wii U emulator is now at full speed with audio.
you can't stop it, but you can at least make it harder for people to homebrew right away.

alright boys its time to settle down this discussions going a bit off the rails on a hypothetical situation
p much everything until more information is gonna be hypothetical. it's fun to guess about this stuff cus nintendo apparently loves to surprise people

I was thinking more that you can boot between the two. Nintendos OS for games, and Android for general use. That would really make it a killer on the market
yeah i would definitely be super interested if it were able to run something like android. guess we'll be kept waiting. i don't think a dual boot would be in their best interest though, they'd probably just focus on making one OS work really well, and if they make their own then they have an advantage there. having their own OS would probably also help anti-piracy efforts

yeah something like that
also most people already own an android or ios device for that so why get another system for it
cus it'd be a high-spec android tablet that can play super loving mario !!!

So can it function like a normal tablet without the controllers? Like does it run android or something?
i doubt it, but i guess it's not impossible. the nvidia shield uses android, but i feel like nintendo would keep making their own OS that they can control like they've always done

« on: October 20, 2016, 08:57:32 PM »
my biggest gripe with windows 10 is probably the settings app. i'd just prefer there to be more detailed and advanced options there, i've found myself having to dig into administrative tools to change things like automatic updates too often than i feel like should be necessary. i'd say that this is something the average user shouldn't worry about in most cases, but the direction they've taken with auto updating is pretty gross imo. there should definitely be a completely obvious and transparent "do not automatically update me, do not automatically restart my computer under any circumstances" options like there's always been available for all users, no excuses. so i guess my biggest gripe is actually windows update

This won't be long.  You can try sticking out for as long as their support for it will go but I guarantee it will be no where near as long as it was for XP.
microsoft plans the life cycles of their OS releases far in advance. windows 10 already has scheduled mainstream and extended support end dates

extended support always lasts five years (more or less) longer than mainstream support, xp didn't get any special treatment and 7 won't either
