Are you handicapped I asked why it's not possible for him to pull a gun instead of an ID

the issue isn't that it isn't possible, it's that the cop mistakenly made a hasty assumption and preemptively unloaded four rounds into an innocent civilian. any reasonable cop would assume that someone is reaching for their ID after being asked for ID

and if the cop was asking for ID i'd also assume that at that point he doesn't know if the victim had a record or not

guy's a loving idiot lol. why would you even say that you have a firearms license and then immediately reach into your pocket. immediately shooting him might have been too extreme but that was an insanely stupid move on the victim's part

i would imagine it was probably to preempt questions about him having a gun, or at least that's the only explanation i can think of

in any case, why would the cop's first instinct be that he's reaching for a gun? lots of people keep their wallets in their pocket... this all seems really weird to me

to be fair Lynch already agreed to accept the FBI's recommendation before director Comey even advised not to prosecute
she probably knew Comey would never advise the DOJ to prosecute, maybe because he and/or family was threatened by Clintons.

if your idea of representation is painting something black and then going 'yaas gurl' or some stuff then that's not actual representation
also why do you sjws strive for someone else creating 'representation' instead of going out and representing yourselves

i imagine because making popular media could be considered a pretty hard thing to do, and i'm guessing the problem that people are seeing is that the people in charge of making these casting/writing decisions like this aren't doing it

but yeah, representation is definitely something that is sociologically significant, media and entertainment has a massive impact on people's lives and views, especially now. but of course, representation for the sake of representation isn't very compelling and it isn't very endearing. real, strong characters that people can relate to are much more valuable, and that's why some shows like game of thrones and steven universe get the attention that they do for this, because they don't just shoehorn this stuff in for the sake of having it, and that's what people really appreciate. the thor thing beachbum posted seemed to be a pretty good indicator that the writers didn't really know what they were doing with the character. it was only one page, but i feel like that might be a good example of a bad example.

if you're making your lead character a black woman just to strengthen egalitarian undertones you're probably doing it wrong in this particular instance, but again, we don't really know anything aside from the fact that it's happening. if the writers pull it off, great, if not, oh well, guess they have to try something else in the future

Did you see the Thor comic above? It looks like they hired new writers for this stuff. Probably the reason the characters changed in the first place.

yeah but that's the fault of stuffty writers, not casting a woman as thor. if you have stuffty writers then you aren't going to have a good comic regardless of if your protagonist is white, trans, willy wonka, or a t-rex made out of legos

They're using 'four-letter word' as a euphemism for swear words like 'forget', 'stuff', 'cunt', etc. They're saying "That's for using 'feminist' like a bad word." For example, if a girl said something, and I replied "loving feminist," I would be using 'feminist' like a bad word.

sometimes the better decisions for business are the easy ones. spending thousands or millions of dollars on new characters is risky when you have the opportunity to do something like this.

still, i don't see why this has to be a bad thing for the comic. it doesn't necessarily mean the writing or actual substance is going to be any worse now, they're just putting a different individual in the same place. i can get people being skeptical if it feels like it's being shoehorned in, but i don't see why this has to ruin anything

Your right. Why make new comic book superheroes that are a different race when you can just change the race of an already existing superhero and forget up the cannon?

because then you have to make a new character and market it, and that's a lot harder than re-purposing an old character that you want to rehash anyway. you get an advantage for the name recognition and you get brownie points for experimentation with a well-known IP. win-win for them

ok, sure. i'm not a big comic book fan or even a fan of the movies or anything so i don't have much investment in the canon, but this doesn't necessarily mean anything is going to be worse. they're just putting someone different in the same place, isn't that something that happens fairly often when you have these long-running series? you can't use the same personality for that long before you run out of things to explore with it
