i guess people just didn't orally accept that black people have committed more crimes
i think it's pretty easy to accept that, because it's pure statistical data. but it's just that: statistics. it ignores the factors that actually contribute to that figure. it assumes that crime is in a simple relationship with race, and that's obviously not the case. in reality, it's an incredibly complex issue that warrants much more discussion than simply "x people do more crimes, therefore they are more criminal." because everyone knows that people don't just commit crimes for no reason, crime happens as a response to people's intricate needs and desires. and it's baffling that someone would just ignore this myriad of factors just because it supports their prejudiced conclusion. tez seems to expect people to just accept these numbers as if the matter is as simple as that, but it isn't, and that's what the problem is.

Stereotypes are derived from common, outstanding attributes and behaviour patterns. While stereotypes might be outdated and in some cases oversimplifed, they exist on the basic human need to simplify patterns down to their most basic level. It's a survival skill our ancestors became excellent at to help them identify threats in their environment which has kind of backfired in this modern society.

It is ridiculous to assume people can easily overcome what is part of basic human nature, and still serves some use in today's environment (for example, you probably wouldn't want to walk up to some guy in hoodie brandishing a knife).
i was debating whether to post basically this so i'm glad mcjob did it for me. in truth, stereotypes also aren't always necessarily considered a bad thing, sometimes they can actually be positive and make people more successful (that doesn't make them fair, but it's miles better than having negative stereotypes). but there's a vague point where suddenly you end up in a situation where you're making a lot more assumptions about people than might be fair, and those assumptions, when adopted on a large, society-sized scale, can definitely contribute to very difficult, long-standing problems of prejudice that do, in fact, affect the lives of other people.

wait hold on why are we ignoring the fact that tez's stats say that black people commit more crime and instead opting to argue over how tribal he and his stats are
either because they've decided it's not worth their time to argue with tez about things that seem obvious to them or because we've moved on to other things. probably a combination of both

How is stating facts collected by the FBI tribal
i may well have this wrong since i haven't rly kept up as well, but i think it's the fact that he was using those facts to construct the argument that uhh...black people are like, naturally terrible people

which is uhh

pretty tribal. on a scale of 1-10 it's probably pretty up there it has to be said

i still think it's weird that, since windows 8, they've really liked to basically have two separate control panels, and some things are pretty much only plainly accessible in the gross one

in win8 it made sense that you had a desktop control panel and a metro one, but in win10 it just seems redundant. i naturally prefer the original one that i'm used to, but sometimes i find that they've moved certain things or that newer things are only available in the simplified one. which i wouldn't necessarily have a problem with if it weren't "user-friendly" to the point where it seems to hide a lot of options that would be very useful, such as "do not automatically restart my computer thanks"

there is "lactose-free milk". it's not actually lactose-free, it just has extra lactase for digestions. seems to work pretty well.
