Music / TRON Legacy - Music
« on: January 11, 2011, 08:35:58 PM »
Music looped from the movie TRON Legacy.
TRON Legacy - Derezzed
TRON Legacy - End of Line
TRON Legacy - Fall
TRON Legacy - Rinzler
Should I say "all rights go to Daft Punk"?

Can anyone tell me how to make it so that a projectile explodes upon 'sticking' to a surface?

I've just recently stopped being able to host. I don't think I've changed anything about my connection, but my server now only reads as ---
Few days ago it couldn't even send a brick picture to BL.us or register the fact that it has RTB
It does both I think now, but its ping is always ---
Does anyone know what the general issue normally is?

64
I've been making some loops out of the TRON Legacy soundtrack, and I was wondering which would be better.

Rinzler.ogg which would look like Rinzler
Fall.ogg which would look like Fall
End_of_Line.ogg which would look like End of Line

or

TRON_Legacy_-_Rinzler.ogg which would look like TRON Legacy - Rinzler
TRON_Legacy_-_Fall.ogg which would look like TRON Legacy - Fall
TRON_Legacy_-_End_of_Line.ogg which would look like TRON Legacy - End of Line

Also, if I add it, should I do "TRON" or "Tron"?

When I was little I had not a care in the world. Perhaps it was perspective and ignorance, but over time as I aged I've worried more and more about the world.
Now, every day I am breaking down because I am afraid of being judged by everyone around me.
Why on earth would I think something as silly as that?
Meh.

You know Pandora? It's got some interesting features that I think could be cool in Blockland. I've yet to see a map with mountainous hills surrounded by floating mountains or even a dense forest anywhere, no matter how cheaply made.

Off Topic / Tinnitus
« on: December 14, 2010, 06:36:19 PM »
Basically it's constantly hearing this really really really really 'loud' ringing noise in one or both of your ears forever. However, even with tinnitus you can still hear very faint noises, as if the sound from tinnitus does not register in the same way. Compare the sound in videogames that you get after getting hit by a grenade or explosion to tinnitus. Except it keeps going.
I've had it for so long I don't really notice it until it's really quiet. For a while I thought it was normal and that it was just how the brain registered silence.
For me, actually hearing it is like playing 'the game'. You don't notice it until you think about it. At least for me.
Does anyone else have tinnitus?

Modification Help / Temporary zone that deflects projectiles
« on: December 14, 2010, 05:28:01 PM »
I've been thinking about how I'd improve my edited TF2 Flamethrower, but it turned out using the deflector script for the alt fire was not a very good idea.
It became extremely difficult to 'deflect' using this as even deflecting relatively slow rockets had to be highly accurate in timing, right as the rocket was in range, the blast had to be shot. There can't be any preemptive striking.

Sorry for just begging the community, but can anyone give me an example of what a script that produces a zone that deflects projectiles like the deflector and deletes said zone after a specified time?

Is it just me, or is it really common to see a very interesting and rather significant topic to suddenly give way to what could be recognized as mindless internet phenomena bashing the topic sometimes for no reason, leading to flame wars and other stuff that really shouldn't exist?

I mean, it feels extremely natural to expect someone to tell me:
Quote
Yes, it's you.
Seriously, why do people think they're funny when they do things like this? Do they expect praise? Even I am not innocent for things like this. Why do we do this?
I see people verbally attack each other with absolutely no grounds of meaning to do so. Some people may come along and do something with absolutely no impact on a reader who then comes along to attack this person with no purpose. One theory: destructive thoughts carried from outside this community.

Suggestions & Requests / MODEL REQUEST: TF2 Ammo Crate Models

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone could lend their time to creating Blockland models for the following objects:

It'd be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

General Discussion / How Blockland has changed FOR you over time.
« on: December 11, 2010, 08:16:30 PM »
Does anyone else agree that Blockland's feel or 'atmosphere' has drastically, drastically changed over the years? I'm not making the implication that 'I don't like it anymore', but more pointing out the reason I play it at all. Blockland is a constantly changing game, and every day, more or less, there is something new to see. I've always liked Lego, but to be honest it was often more interesting to see the finished product of a Lego set built by someone else; it was the prospect of something new and unfamiliar that awed me. Of course, I loved to build as well.

Blockland was very different in v8. That's when I came in. My ID was 3898, and for a time I did not wish to change my name from Blockhead3898. I find myself being a bit of a hypocrite when finding other, new Blockheads, telling them to find a name for themselves.

I think the first thing I tried when I bought Blockland was I joined a server. I found some very large city-esque build in Slate. I think I saved it, and began to screw around with it. It then turned into a big mess of cities glued through eachother.
One other particular nostalgic thought was those rather simplistic, makeshift, and unprofessional 'laboratory' builds I can remember from the Slopes, with multiple rooms often relevant to conspiracy-bred radical ideas and funny science-fiction top-secret nonsense. As I grew from being an idiot, I began to host more cohesive servers. I can remember 'The Planets' and the colonies I made on Earth and other planets, particularly using Space Guy's event mod. I can remember the time I delved into the creating of massive tombs and pyramids, which I admittedly stole partially to create. I can remember my first replication of Portal; pathetic compared to my attempts of now, but do hold a place in my mind.
So many thoughts I can't hold them all together.

In v9, events changed everything. I at first had no idea how to use them. I eventually created the preface for Cyblock, the concept then was actually to be a cyberspace; the concept []----[] and I now have is far different, Cyblock being an alternate dimension highly similar to human cyberspace due to its suggestible properties and accidental tampering. Events may have changed Blockland into a more numerical and ordered world, but this is not a bad thing, but it is not strictly a good thing. Of course, there were events before the official thing, but this allowed for a much wider array of complexity. I'd much rather have this, but it did somewhat cloud my memories of Blockland's original form.

My first real attempt at add-ons; the Iron Man suit. This had a terrible model, but I learned to create something rather unique to my knowledge, I felt this was a step forward for me. I also think this made be begin to see Blockland in less of an astonishing sight. These 'add-ons' used to be a mystery. But as I unscrambled them, Blockland became more and more solid and abstract.

Blockland is now a very, very refined and well-polished game, and I hope it will continue to do so for a while. I've respected every year and era Blockland has gone through, and they all hold memories quite dear.

Sorry for making this so long, but if you have the time, I don't know, I'd like it if some actually read it. I didn't particularly edit this much at all.
meh
There's probably a lot in what I said that I'd reword or rethink.

Anyway, who else feels that Blockland's feel has changed dramatically over time in many different ways? Do you feel your experience had been different from others, or that your actions had wrote a story to what you've done on Blockland?

Off Topic / When something becomes overrated it becomes hated
« on: December 11, 2010, 04:16:45 PM »
I find it a bit interesting that the moment everyone begins to discuss how something is overrated it simply becomes hated beyond belief.
Doesn't that somewhat negate the entire point of it being overrated: If something is hated, how is it popular in any way?
