To apply the new shaders update, terrain maps must be removed, so he removed them.
Even if somebody did have the old map of bedroom or kitchen or whatever, it still would not work. It would result in either crashing your game or having very choppy lighting, since he clearly stated it's hard to incorporate lighting into terrain maps.
