I get 100 mbits down/up  for about $9 a month and we were offered a upgrade to 1000 mbits down and 500 up for basically free but family declined it because they thought it was a scam but it turns out we were overpaying to begin with and we were supposed to be paying about $6 a month for 100 so we are still overpaying instead but oh well.

Suggestions & Requests / Re: Island Resort Concept
« on: November 13, 2017, 02:53:21 AM »
Maybe interiors could be rabbit holes so you don't have to overkill the detail in the actual resort and it could run better while also allowing to make interiors larger than the actual building.

The only downside is that windows wouldn't work which does kinda suck.

Games / Re: What are your thoughts on Micro-Transactions?
« on: November 12, 2017, 06:37:54 AM »
P2W microtransactions on PC/Console titles, F2P or not, are just straight up bad. There is no excuse that can be given, stuff like boosters is borderline but microtransactions should be focused around cosmetics, not giving players unobtainable weapons, even if they are balanced right. Even if the weapons or items are balanced, it straight up restricts other people's access to use them. Maybe it has a particular quirk that makes it very efficient for a specific play style and no other achievable weapon can reach that. Balanced or not, the feeling of being killed by a weapon you know you can't ever have unless you pay money is straight up scummish.

I can accept mobile "P2W" because it's in the business model. Most mobile microtransactions, and games furthermore, are designed for people that don't spend multiple hours playing games a day. People don't spend much time overall playing games on mobile, so stuff that limits the amount of plays per day and such limitations are done with that in mind. If you're actively playing mobile games you're better off with straight-up paid mobile games or a dedicated handheld console. The target audience is pretty much always the people that play to pass the time for like less than ten minutes a session.

Now, overall as a business model, it's implementation does not fault on the devs end, but the communities. It's been reported multiple times on multiple games and studies that microtransactions (considered as "player recurring investment" by Ubisoft for example), is straight up (almost) half of the game's income, as players can easily end up paying more than what they paid for the game. That being said, I don't see it as the developers fault for not going with the flow - not including microtransactions is straight up abandoning a potential double in revenue. The issue came with the communities that actively partook in microtransactions and proved that they are a legitimate business model, beyond the mobile model over to PC and Consoles' AAA titles. I believe it's an issue that was not spread because of developers, but because of the masses that suck up to it. It's the same with preordering, Early Access and DLC, no matter how many people say "Stop preordering!" and give all the rational and logical advice in the world, if there are going to be people (and there are) buying them, it's a model that will continue to grow and be used more and more often.

Code: (https://superuser.com/questions/1077785/create-send-to-compressedzipped-folder-event-shortcut-on-windows10) [Select]
#IfWinActive ahk_class CabinetWClass ; Only run AutoHotkey script when Windows explorer has the focus
z::                     ; Keyboard shortcut z
Send, {AppsKey}         ; Press the "context menu" key
Sleep 100
Send n                  ; Select "Send to" with the "n" key
Sleep 100
Send {Right}            ; Open "Sent to" with the "right arrow" key
Sleep 100

Sleep 100
Send {Enter}            ; Execute "Compressed (zipped) folder" with the "Enter" key

AHK script found online, the 100ms sleep is pretty huge imo it would be fine with like 20.

Jesus Christ those microns are unacceptable.

Ive never tried microns but Ive only had one or two staedtler pigment liners forget up on me.
Actually it seems to be an incredibly common problem, it's a design from 1980 that was extremely prone to "malfunctioning" like this from shaking and "abusive" use (such as using it as a fiddling pen). This might've happened during transit and might've also explained the bubblewrap, although that didn't do much. Although it should apparently be "fixable", it's so common the official website has a FAQ declaring the design issue. https://sakuraofamerica.com/content-page/faq#25 But that's why they were so cheap I guess, note that it was like $0.82 per pen.

Not really a drawing but I ordered a bunch of Micron ink pens, a calligraphy pen and a MONO (MEME) eraser and it came in a loving meter of bubblewrap.

Well forget that was a waste of $6 :D

The calligraphy pen is fine I suppose but half of the Micron pens are forgeted and I expect the other half to eventually get forgeted.

its interesting to see people demonize tech companies for making expensive products meanwhile 50% of all companies in the world produced overpriced products anyways

this stuff is a year's salary and people still buy it. why? because they make the product for expensive business people, not 16 year old virgins on lego forums lol. if you're really looking to get your money's worth in a product, buy a $15 flip phone

price aside, the removal of headphone jacks is an objectively terrible business choice
The equivalent of that would be something like the Lamborghini phones, Vertu and other companies that make pointless stuff for certain people to show off while still being functionally on par (or subpar) from other products. A $10 watch won't last as long as a $200 watch, but a $200 watch might very well last as long as a >$10000 watch.

~$4000

~$21900

And other stuff, including pure gold dumb phones. (the one below is still Vertu figures but there are other examples)

Also I actually like the looks that Vertu phone. The Lamborghini one is ridiculous though.

I am just saying I consider this a better equivalent, not about the iPhone, Pixel or any other phonee in particular.

I honestly feel so bad for the Roblox devs man. Their site gets so much stuff for being a gathering for creeps and they try to so hard and filter so much and this is probably going to loving ruin them completely.
I do not believe the developers of that game deserve any sympathy.

Off Topic / Re: considering purchasing a drawing tablet
« on: September 19, 2017, 01:22:58 PM »
Wacom is definitely the way to go in terms of compatibility and such, but I would still recommend off-brand products such as Huion/Monoprice and some others, simply because it's more optimal for a budget. Wacom is premium, but you are expected to pay a lot more than $60. I believe the cheapest Wacom (and ultimately barebone) is the Wacom One Small (CTL-471), if you can even find it anymore (probably not).
In other words, it's probably a better idea to get another brand tablet with more features and bigger size instead of whatever cheapest Wacom you can buy. You'd however still have to look a bit more into Linux compatibility and all.
Despite what everyone's saying, since you also need Linux compability - I didn't even find official support for Wacom Linux compability to begin with, so it's a hit or miss regardless of what you get at this point. Most drivers seem to be community-made. This is going to be a difficult to find aspect for any tablet you'll buy, you'll have to look for the specific model to see if there's drivers, no way around it.
The "linuxwacom" project on Sourceforge has approx. 800 downloads, so expect basic if no support to begin with if anything goes wrong as well. It might be better than other brands at this point due to (lack of) popularity, but as I said, it's going to be difficult to determine Linux compatibility at this point.

Upon further research (although I still might be wrong, there's barely any info about this) it might also depend on the distro. Seems like Ubuntu has default Wacom support but don't quote me on this, you'll have to check if your specific distro has that sort of support for whatever device you are looking to buy.
