There is a massive lack of these 2 elements in Blockland servers. Pirates, and Cops & Robbers minigames. Even though a good portion of Blockland's default content is pirate related, there's only a couple pirate themes that come around once in a great while. I've also never seen a Cops and Robbers build, EVER, even though the minigame option has been with Space Guy's TDM since it first came out. I always thought that Pirates would be a cool theme for that minigame. Pirates invading the british colony and stealing their booty just sounded fun. So with the release of my new Pirate decals, and inspiration from
THIS Lego build, I decided that I would take this project on!
As most of you know, I rarely finish a project, thats why I need your help! If I did this by myself then it would never get done. I usually just do things by myself because people usually can't complete the same style or layout that I want. But with the basic layout of the build all completely built and a few good references, I am confidant that this project can be finished with the help of some talented builders!
Guidelines - Follow these or walk the plank!I need good builders who can replicate the style of the build. Available baseplates to build on are Green ones, other colors will be built by me or someone I request special.
SizeSize is determined on what baseplate you want to build on. Some baseplates are near walls, which would require that you build a basement to go up to that wall. If you can't contact me because I'm afk or something, check what size you preferred baseplate is and build on that same size elsewhere.
HeightHeight is not that important, as a vary in heights will make the build a lot more interesting. But the standard height is the white building with the red roof (as seen in the above photo). Try not to build much lower than this, low builds look odd. But do not tower your build so high that its a huge focal point.
StyleStyle is one of the most important parts of your build. If your build doesn't have the right style it will be removed. (if its still cool, though, I will save it in a special area. There it can be appreciated but still deleted later when the real server is finished)
Steps to get the right style:
1. Color your baseplate at Greyscale #5.
2. Build up an interesting looking stone base with Greyscale #4.
3. Create little accent details on your base with Greyscale #5
5. Put 1x2 ramps with the color Greyscale #8 along the top of the front of your build, equally spaced with about 4 studs in between them.
6. Put a baseplate (or plates) along the top of your first section (with Greyscale #8)
7. Make black poles on top of the area where the ramps (from step 5) are.
8. Fill in your poles with a light brown color or white. Make these sections about 2 bricks high.
9. Put a black plate on top of all these lighter sections.
10. Fill up the blank spots with that same lighter color to the top of your black poles.
11. (Optional, do this step to increase height of your build) Repeat steps 6-10. This will create a second story of your build.
12. Make roof by: Making a first layer of 25
o ramps. Along the top, extending out 1 or 2 studs from your build.
13. Put 45
o ramps on top of these ramps until they meet in the center.
14. Fill in the empty sections on the side of your roof with the same pattern as your "wooden" floor.
15. Congrats! If you did this correctly, you made a good build!!
These steps can be varied
DetailYour build should be detailed, but it should use
as little bricks as possible. You can do this with things like arches over windows and doors, and other architectural details.
Example:
This window has an arch over it, this looks nice. Notice how around it, it uses large bricks.
Notice how around it, it uses large bricks.
This is a good way to get that "1x2 brick detail" without all the spam of actually using all 1x2s.
Don't: use a lot of bricks (like 1x2s or 2x4s) to get detail.
Do: have interesting architecture to get detail.
Other Don'tsNo interior, no events, no secrets.
I know the above three things are a lot of fun, but please do not add them. When the build is finished, I will remove events of doors and windows/other things that let the players get inside of your build. If there is no interior, then there is obviously no need for events or secrets. The reason for this is that I only want users to be able to get inside places that have objectives. If I want the Pirate team to go and steal gold from the British, I do not want them to get lost/distracted on the way by entering and exploring every single build that's built.
Don't waste bricks! use as little bricks as possible!! Remember: this is a TDM! any kind of minigame with too many bricks can cause tons of lag, we don't want that! We want as many people to be able to play this as possible.
Also: I have longer ramp bricks, please use them for your roofs to make my life easier (I'm currently changing all roofs to use long bricks :V ) I will soon DL some kind of 2x height set of bricks so we can cut down even more bricks, since a ton of builds have spots that could use that.
