Gonna be honest here, I'm an old man and only tuned in to make sure my key wasn't stolen. Is this case closed? Who is this guy? Why did everyone blame him right away, is he notoriously up to no good or something?

No one from brickadia thinks blockland is a rip off that would be so ignorant

Have any more keys leaked or has it kinda stopped at those initial 100?

People always tell me they remember my Airboat server haha. It was definitely fun but in hindsight it was definitely an admin abuse server too lol.

General Discussion / Re: Should I come back to Blockland?
« on: November 14, 2019, 12:42:14 AM »
And for everyone else, try not to take the game for granted, it was the pioneer of sand box building games, with a unique and charming visual and audio style, and an early example of a video game with a modding community. Don't jump ship on a whim. Also, the more you shy players away from returning the dead-er it gets.

So don't rallyabout Blockland being dead if you're still lurking on the forums with a pristrine BL_ID sitting there begging to be used. If everyone in the "Blockland is dead" ship holding an account joined in on a servers right now the game would be booming, but they're too busy fulfilling their own prophecy. It'd be even better if they tried looking into solutions for the problems they complained about, like the in game physics...

Blockland was a huge part of my life for a long time but I think you're giving it way too much credit for "pioneering sand box building games" It has literally not paved the way for anything or had any influence on the genre, and in comparison to other sandbox building games like Roblox and Minecraft, it has barely evolved. I obviously like Blockland way more than Roblox or Minecraft, but if you look at how much those two games have changed compared to when they launched (and in less time, mind you, being that Blockland came before them) it is a ton. Blockland has had some cool features added since day one that really changed the game, but it's hardly even comparable to how much MC and Roblox have evolved. Blockland's biggest and most important changes have come from the players. This game is almost unplayable without the duplicator or fill can. And it is so stale without gamemode mods like Slayer. But what those 3 mods add should just be default features of a building game, and it's honestly kinda ridiculous that they aren't. Blockland is a game that was great in its hayday but never really quite caught on and never really evolved. To call it a pioneer of the genre is ridiculous.

there's numpad controls still aka "detached mode", there's point-and-click too (which u can click and hold to drag out and place multiple bricks, using scroll wheel to add spacing), there's orbit mode which ur camera is attached to ur ghost brick while building, and there's a duplicator, resize tool (drag a 1x1 brick into whatever, or any other brick that can be resized)

the duplicator and resize tool use click-and-drag too

so much better
this and every tool has little quality of life features that makes it so much easier to use. You can middle mouse click bricks to start building with that same brick, same with paint tool to quickly select a color. You can hold Ctrl and click bricks with the dupe to expand the selection box to include them in the selection. Building really is fun.

I've never had my OG key revoked. I paid one subscription to Ephi back in the day for RTB server hosting. I don't remember how much that cost or for how long. I think it was like 25 bucks for a few months? I have bought numerous keys for friends, on and off sale. If you total that all up idk.... 60 bucks??

What exactly makes it better? Improved graphics with reduced gameplay value is not better imo

And for the record I don't hate Brickadia or anything like that, it just boggles my mind how ready people are to leave Blockland before Brickadia has anything in comparison from a gameplay perspective. I feel that we should continue with BL until Brickadia is closer to a finished product at least
it isn't just the graphics.the building controls are so far beyond blocklands, I am serious. Having real sideways bricks alone is a huge game changer. It feels so much more like building with real Lego. They are also just more intuitive for new players in general. I don't think people realize how alienating blocklands stupid number pad controls are to new players. All my friends I've tried to make play BL with me refuse to stay because building is too hard so they feel like they can't make anything cool. In addition to sideways bricks the brick selector, brick resizer, and micro shifting tools are just great. Your imagination is so much less limited.  There's propor brick collision so you can bump wedges and ramps next to each other without some stupid separate brick pack that just turns off brick collision. What a broken work around for something that should be a default feature. Blockland is full of broken ass workaround mods for features that a game like blockland should just have from the beginning because of whatever reason or another. I don't know anything about coding so I feel less inclined to blame badapots skill/motivation and more inclined to blame the stuffty 20 year old engine the game was built on.

Sure, Brickadia doesn't have nearly as many game mode options and there is no wrench tool yet. But all these features are coming. And when they get here they're going to be so much more fun to play with because the base game is already a better base game.  When's the last time you tried playing blockland vanilla? Never. Because it's a bad game. Hell. The guy who made the most important thing to make blockland bearable (the duplicator) is one of the leads on this new game lol.. what does that tell you.

Edit: on the note of building mechanics, anyone who argues against that i want you to look back and reflect on when you first picked up blockland. Did you feel like a total noob? Idk about you but it probably took me a year before I could build anything half decent, and that was probably just building the muscle memory to hit the keys. Part of that was me being a dumb 12 year old and part of that was blocklands building controls not being an intuitive design, rather a set of inputs you have to learn. Games, especially with ones that have appeals to children should be easier than that.

Edit Edit: I realize I didn't really address your second point about early adoption. Really, its just personal preference. Some people get really excited about new tech and they wanna early adopt. Some people don't wanna switch until they can move their entire life from one thing to another. I get it. But no one is forcing you to make the switch. And if you're concerned that Blockland's playerbase is dwindling because of Brickadia I think it's really quite the opposite. Blockland's playerbase has been dwindling for a long time, and at no fault of Brickadia existing (because it didn't yet). I think the majority of Brickadia's current players, though, are people who gave up on BL a long time ago and are just  curious to tune into what's happening next for their old favorite game. Half the people I've seen playing haven't been active on BL in a loooong time. I've ran into people from literally 8 years ago. People are just really excited about the prospects of a new version of their favorite game and they like what it is enough to look past the things that it isn't. I'm not going to encourage you to try it or anything if you don't want to, Blockland still has a lot of great things about it that Brickadia doesn't have yet.

Brickadia is literally better, why be so clung to the past just for the sake of it.

Add-Ons / Re: Colorset_GringoPick
« on: September 01, 2019, 12:19:16 AM »
if i recall correctly you can only have up to 64 colors, and this colorset is currently at 63
ooh I didn't realize he just shaped it weird with the max colors.
I don't really get the issue with the shape of it, it's just a list of colors.
colorsets are just really frustrating to build with when the rows aren't all even because every time you page through the rows your selection gets reset to the smallest row. So if you were on the 8th color on the 3rd row of your colorset and wanted to get to the 8th color on the first row, you're gonna have to scroll back down after your selection gets reset from passing those smaller rows. It's just mildly annoying but over time becomes more and more tedious

Colorsets that don't have even rows are super annoying to use, there's not really a good reason to not fill those blank spaces so you should just add some more colors

Also, when you organize a set by hue like that and just have 3 shades of every hue, you end up with a lot of useless colors and not enough of the colors that you find most in nature / Legos catalog/ needing for a build. I find in blockland it useful to have a large variety of browns, and a decent amount of greens and blues.

And despite having your set based on hue, it seems to lack a good neutral version of orange, yellow, green or blue that Lego builds especially will suffer from. This is ok if you're intentionally making a style choice but I don't get the impression that's what you were going for :P

Hope this has been helpful :)

Suggestions & Requests / Re: Bot Events Expanded
« on: August 30, 2019, 02:35:55 PM »
A lot of the stuff you want already exists, just download my stuff and browse and figure out if this can help with what you're looking for. Bot Damaged I know is a thing with this.
I tried searching for not events on glass and the forum and didn't have much luck. I'll check this one out when I get home. Where did you find this one? Or is it yours?

Suggestions & Requests / Bot Events Expanded
« on: August 29, 2019, 10:50:18 PM »
I tried searching for this and was very surprised to find it didn't already exist.

RN bots have way too few input events to be useful. There really needs to be more. At the very least I think onBotAttacked or onBotDamaged or something to that extent would help a lot. Also if there were a way to somehow fire relays or something to bots they would be infinitely more useful. There needs to be a way for regular brick events to trigger the bots. Right now the bots can only be triggered by the bot touching something / entering a zone or being clicked on by a player.

For example, I want to make a little Dinosaur boss fight where you place meat on the ground to distract a t-rex. As of now I have no idea how to activate the t-rex bot via the action of activating the ground to place the meat.

Anyone up to the task of coding some new bot events / have any ideas how I could accomplish that?
