Off Topic / Think of a liquid before opening this thread
« on: June 16, 2014, 03:22:13 PM »
Every time you climax, that liquid interjects from your belly button.

Let the chaos begin.

Questions:
why my belly button
Because that hole is almost never used.

can I/am I masturbating with my belly button
"Every time you climax" can refer to clitoral, urethral, brown town, penile, or other form of loveual endorphin release.

Games / Hatsune Miku: Project Diva - Jesus forget this game is hard
« on: June 10, 2014, 03:47:52 PM »

Pictured above is the case for Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F on Playstation 3. The series started as a PSP game in 2009, but later games were created on PS3, Vita, 3DS, and the pretentious iPhone. Project Diva F is currently the third main game in the series and a fourth is awaiting English localization. Is the game any good? The answer is shown in the screenshot below:

Yes, the game is good. I've spent over seven hours on this game in just two days, and I've barely scratched it. On the other hand, that's why I'm resting my thumbs. In order to unlock more songs, you have to achieve a certain amount of points in the songs you already have, on normal difficulty. Most of those seven hours have been spent replaying the same song over and over again just to unlock more songs. It gets even more frustrating when you finish a song and are so goddamn close to having enough points to unlock more songs:

I was using a handicap when I took this screenshot.

This game wants to watch you suffer. Still really fun, but wants to watch you suffer. Worth buying if you like rhythm games.

Games / Don't be an idiot, go buy the Humble Weekly Bundle
« on: May 30, 2014, 02:14:35 PM »
I can't link it right now due to a school proxy, but holy stuff. RPG Maker VX Ace, pretty much all the DLC and additional software for it, and a bunch of games made in the software, for TWELVE loving DOLLARS. How the hell do you turn that down!? There's at least $150 worth of content and you only have to pay like 8% of it. Seriously, go buy this bundle right now.

This is for a school project. I'm also polling my class. /discuss

EDIT: This poll might be enough for what I'm doing. I'll lock it on Monday to begin full-work on the project.

Sure, there's quite a bit of satisfaction in banning, but reporting is different; more satisfying. I think its the illusion of power that makes a difference. It's all about perspective. Let's put two users right next to each other:

Who has more power? If you said Badspot, you'd be right. Here's a list of what Badspot can do as an admin:
  • Ban users from posting or sending PMs for any amount of time
  • Pin and lock threads
  • Access and post in restricted forum sections
  • Move threads to different sections of the forum
  • Ban the email address or IP address of any user for any amount of time
  • Read PMs sent in between users

That's a lot more powerful than using a report feature. But like I said, it's all about perspective. When an admin sees a reported post they think "Ugh, what's going on now?" Because as fun as it sounds, banning people gets boring after doing it 5000 times over the course of nine years. But as a user, reporting a post makes you feel like you're helping other admins make the community a better place, even though you're not really doing anything. In other words, reporting is more satisfying than banning because instead of doing something, you're telling someone else to do it for you.

But I've never been a forum admin, so who am I to talk?

Off Topic / What does it right? Forum game
« on: May 21, 2014, 11:43:04 AM »
This is fairly simple. One person comes up with a subject, and the next person says what they think does that subject right. Example:
Quote from: OP
Multiplayer shooter
Quote from: First Reply
Tribes 2

Romance story

Only rule is to limit your answers to visual media, like movies, comics, or video games. Books and short stories are the only exceptions.

I'll start: Remake

Help / If you fix a problem, post the solution
« on: May 16, 2014, 11:55:56 PM »
This doesn't happen very much, but it's still irritating. Occasionally somebody will post a help topic and fix the issue without help from anyone else. When this happens, they'll say they fixed it and then lock the topic. Please don't do that. If you fix a problem without someone's help, explain how you fixed it before locking the topic. This way if someone has the same issue they can see how you fixed it. I've seen this happen on multiple forums and hopefully we can have it stop on this forum.

I can't link to the store page due to the forum blocking Roblox links, but did anyone else know about this? How late am I?

Right now I can't connect to the master server at all through the Steam version of Blockland. Is Blockland Down says everything is down right now, despite me being able to post on the forums. Any reasonable explanation for this?

Games / Syberia Megathread - Obscure adventure games, yo
« on: May 05, 2014, 01:43:34 PM »

What is Syberia?
Syberia is a Steampunk point-and-click adventure game developed by french company Microïds and published by the Adventure Company* in 2002. The game was written by Benoît Sokal, who also wrote Amerzone three years before.
*published in the US. Everywhere else was self-published.

Basic Story
Syberia follows the story of Kate Walker; a business woman traveling to a village in France called Valadilène with the task of officially purchasing a toy company called Voralberg Industries. Upon arrival, she discovers that the factory owner, Anna Voralberg, has passed away and her brother Hans, who was presumed to be dead, is still alive and is the rightful heir to ownership of the factory. Thus, Kate must travel across Europe and Asia to find Hans and seal the deal.

Sequels
There are currently two finished games following the story of Syberia and a third one is being developed. Official release of the third game is expected some time this year or next year.

Pretty Screenshots
Screenshots are downscaled from 800x600 to 400x300

Gotta say, looks fantastic for a 2002 game.

Final words
Apologies if information provided in the thread isn't much. In all honesty, I haven't actually finished any of the games. I'll update the thread as questions are asked and hopefully fill in any information gaps I may have left out.

Get the game

The game is also available on several other distributing sites, including iOS and Android devices.

General Discussion / PSA: Conserve your Bricks
« on: May 01, 2014, 11:13:54 PM »
I debated whether or not I wanted to make this post since we seem to have gotten used to it happening, but I almost got banned from a server for suggesting this to the host.

Please pay attention to the number of bricks you place when you're building something. It doesn't take that long to do so, and it helps prevent lag on the server you're building on. Take a look at these screenshots:

This build uses up 131 bricks, not counting the "131 bricks" label on the roof. Now for comparison, here's the same build using more than just 1x1xZ bricks.

The second build only used 23 bricks, and it only took about 30 seconds longer to build than the first one.
That's all I really wanted to say. In short(er), please conserve bricks when building. It's worth the extra time it takes to do so.

Help / How many processes/services are used to run Blockland?
« on: May 01, 2014, 08:26:57 PM »
I ask this because I'm going through the infamous problem of Steam thinking a game is still running. Usually it means the game process is still running or GameOverlay didn't shut down properly, but neither of which are the case with Blockland. Are there any processes or services started up alongside Blockland.exe that I don't know about? /discuss
