« on: August 11, 2011, 01:31:52 AM »I just got done watching LOVE, a movie produced by Tom DeLonge, singer for Blink-182, but more importantly, Angels and Airwaves (http://angelsandairwaves.com), as the latter made the music for the movie, and the movie was inspired by the music of this band.
This movie took 5 years and cost only $500,000 to make, and it was amazing. Unfortunately, it only showed once, in 500 theatres across the US. Im gonna try as best as I can to give a summary, but its gonna sound suckish. The only real way to understand it is to watch it, and it comes out on DVD 11/11/11.
It starts with a Civil War battlefield. Captain Lee is the Soul Survivor of every regiment hes been put into. His current regiment is pinned down and outnumbered, and his commanding officer sends him out to scout the western basin, and is told to keep a journal of what he sees.
Cut to the year 2037, on board a space station. Captain Lee (different guy, not even related) is the only man on board, and is scheduled to be taken home soon. All of a sudden, he loses contact with Houston. He spends the next several months trying to regain contact before giving up. Strange radio interference cuts in and out every now and then, and he is quickly losing his mind. He comes across the journal left by the Civil War Lee, left in the space station from another astronaut by pure luck. He is frustrated at the fact that it isnt finished, and he never knows what Lee saw. Lee begins having flashbacks of his love life, and the seemingly small impact he had on the eath. After 6 YEARS of being stuck in space, he decides to end his life.
He goes out on a space walk, with the plan to cut the cord and fall to earth
Suddenly, he remembers what the Civil War vet had said in his journal: "Never give up, no matter what the odds. Destiny might just change its mind about you."
So the brave astronaut decides to wait it out. If he dies, he wouldve died anyway.
Lots of time passes, it could be years, hes not sure.
All of a sudden, the radio interference starts again, and a message is transmitted to him. It was a pre-recorded message saying that Lee is the last human alive. There is no description given on how the world ended while he sat oblivious in space.
Soon, he sees some shadows coming from the windows, and apon looking outside, a gigantic spaceship is found. He boards it, and finds another message waiting for him, telling him that this ship is full of details of almost every human accomplishment made since the beginning, including pictures, videos, books, and models. The movie then ends with him, happy that he knew that he wasnt forgotten, with some awesome space thing. Im not sure, the movie is too detailed to explain in writing.
I know, sounds REALLY corny, but the movie was awesome, believe me.
Tl;dr A man gets stuck in space and discovers that without human contact, he loses his
mind and forgets what love is.
