Its costing me about $1330 NZD. That translates to about $1100 USD, but I think you could do it for $900USD since you get better prices in the US.

I'm yet to buy the CPU or RAM as I wait for funds. I have everything else.

IcyGamma's Gaming Mini-ITX

3.40GHz CPU (4 core Intel i5-3570)
1GB Dedicated Graphics (AMD Radeon HD 7770)
16GB Ram (lol)
1TB Hard Drive
Asus P8Z77-I DELUXE Mini-ITX Motherboard running with 430W PSU (yes, this power supply IS fine wattage, mini-itx handles power better)

INTEL CORE I5 3570 IVY BRIDGE 3.40GHZ 6MB 77W LGA1155  ($285.00 NZD)
Corsair Value 8GBx2 DDR3 1333 PC3-10600 CL9 ($131.76 NZD)
Asus P8Z77-I DELUXE Motherboard ($289.00 NZD)
Seasonic S12II, 430W ATX PSU, Active PFC, SLI Ready, Black ($124.50 NZD)
Prodigy Mini ITX Computer Case - Black ($135.00 NZD)
WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6/GBs ($150.00 NZD)
Asus Radeon HD 7770 1GB ($209.00 NZD)

Can't waittt.

that's a nice case. looks a bit small.
and aw, I do like windows/LEDs if they're placed well

Yeah its littler than typical gaming towers, its inbetween mini-itx sized cases (those tiny box computers you find at cafes) and a full sized ATX case. ITs ATX's little brother. c;

Usually mini-itx mobos are really underpowered but I've picked one of the few high end mobos Asus makes for powerful mini-itx machines. I tell ye, this is where desktop computers are heading.

The graphics card can be seen through the perforated steel side, and you can notice the faint honeycomb grid behind the mesh. It sucks in air at the front using a fan.

Its brilliant because it has room for several hard drives which you just "snap" in place without screws. Or you can remove half of the hard drive bays to fit in cooling or a bigger graphics card.

I absolutely love mini-itx, my mobo is 17x17cm and it looks adorable.  :cookieMonster:

If i was building a mini itx computer, i would choose that case, no doubt about it.

This case comes in white as well (and strawberry pink and orange according to the site). Its called the Bitfenix Prodigy mini-itx case if you're interested, its the best case you could want for a gaming mini-itx in terms of what you can do with it... often recommended as a good case for a LAN party desktop.

I wanted something that has more shape than just the normal box design, i like all the curves on it, and it has a small window which i've always wanted! Can;t help feeling i want something a little bit more original though.

Well you picked a quality case then. I wouldn't worry about being "original" because the best cases always attract lots of attention. You aren't going to find a beautiful, premium case that is under-marketed ever.

For my mini-itx gaming machine that I've currently got most of the parts for, I've got this case sitting in my room...

Mac Pro-esk. One of the biggest, and most flexible, mini-itx cases available. I absolutely love eeet, knew I was going to buy one immediately after seeing it. Though its not to everyone's taste.

I'm much more subtle in my approach to computer cases. I like steel, mesh, and / or brushed metal. I'm very demanding about the look of logos and I prefer no windows or LEDs.

I think Mack got that case in white, I think it looks pretty good in that color but in red and black I don't like it. That photo isn't flattering so...

... thats better.

I'm not a closet furry in this community and I haven't tasted my own cum. Is that bad?

Well I'm no furry, but apparently never having jizzed and licked it up puts us in the minority.

I'm not really weighing in on the "ethics" here, just trying to stop you drilling into somebody when you knew what they were saying.

ok yeah no you should feel bad

I think the point he is making is that Ephialtes, having a role on the Blockland forums and having beta tested the game, is the next closest thing to Kompressor that is representative of Blockland-- even more so since he runs a major mod that is used by a significant portion of the community (and has been given the ability to share those services officially through the Blockland forum).

I wouldn't say he is part of the "Blockland team" whatever that is supposed to mean, but I'm pretty sure you know what he is trying to say as well. Stop stirring.

If you put in $60 more out of your own pocket you could go with an Alienware tower, it has an i3 CPU which isn't bad and a GeForce GT 640 which will be far more capable of keeping you closer to the fast paced gaming world (scoring about 3x more than the other computers card in a bechmarking test).

I understand not everyone likes Alienware though, but it looks like the best there in terms of hardware thats near that budget of yours.

The price you have in mind is really stretching it imo.

So no, skyrim on high settings or Metro 2033?

Apparently: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TuN7WZGfrk

Out of all all high end graphics cards, the 7450 is on the low end. Its about double the power of my laptop graphics card, a 5470 mobility... so you'll be able to game ok. But it won't be a mindblowing experience from mediocre cards. Expect to struggle to play the latest games in the next year though.

Personally I'd go with ArchLinux because of its ease of use and any distro is better than Ubuntu.

Erm what lol? I thought you have to set that up manually, even down to choosing the desktop environment?

You so crazy lady.
