Meh. I rarely jump to buy new games. I usually wait a while then get them on the cheap huehue.

Its been said.

Impact is a common font.

Plain black text isn't exactly an original design feat now is it.

Looks like a very bland Wordpress theme. Functional and tidy, but very simple. Not the kind of "stylishly minimal" simple I like. More like "boring generic" simple most people make do with.

I do this, im so gentle with everything. The first time i took a piece of RAM out of a computer i was so scared it would break.

Haha yeah

I think everyone gets nervous about how much force to use when removing or inserting components for the first time.

I was on Skype the other day having a chat about how much anxiety I get switching on a newly installed PSU for the first time lolol. Brace for burning smell.

How much are those?

An i3 desktop processor will set you back $120 - $150 USD on Newegg.

I had an i3-330M in my laptop, 2.40GHz, and it was very capable. Great performance for general computing. Plays Blockland and Minecraft perfectly. Garrys Mod, Half Life 2, no problem with Steam games. Definitely a world away from the Pentium, worth it.

Well Pentium processors are pretty bleh. Personally, I wouldn't trust gaming on anything other than an i3 or better (lol). See how it goes but eh, processor isn't ideal now is it.

k cool. not sure who that was directed to though.
oh and my current estimated wattage is 450.

You, I wouldn't touch anything that has had several reviews featuring the words "burning smell".

Is it on newegg? I only order on newegg.

Yeah I just looked.

I'm planning on a Seasonic S12II 430W PSU.

Well priced and seems reliable. A tech website that took it apart gave it a rave review saying you could "buy it with your eyes closed and have no regrets".

Alright. The PSU thing is probably the only real concern, everything else should be fine but when it comes to a PSU, any doubt about it is a bad sign.

Bad PSU > whole computer is toast.

Imo pushing the budget a little more for a better PSU is the most reasonable place to spend money in any computer.

Ooo I'm going for the Core i5-3570 myself, I think someone mentioned the K can be overclocked but I don't know if there is any other difference. Seems to fit the socket and motherboard.

I've also bought that same hard drive, haven't tested it yet but looks good too. Some said it could get a bit noisy, others say it runs quiet. Strange.

The optical drive apparently burns at 2.4x after a little Google. If that is a concern for you, might want to rethink it. But if you don't tend to burn discs probably not an issue.

RAM looks compatible. Graphics card should fit into that one PCIe x16 slot on the mobo so that seems fine.

PSU is of a good brand, can't comment on what wattage you'll need but I imagine 650 is suitable. Might want to double check. I also noticed some people are saying it doesn't come with a power cord so you'd need to reuse, find, or buy one. The reviews are mixed on this PSU, some say its great but an alarming bunch of people warn of "burning smells". I recommend looking around for another.

If it was me I'd probably push up the RAM a bit more (maybe 2x8GB) and look for a new PSU, and maybe consider a better optical. But it seems like everything should fit together nicely, I'd probably go ahead with it. Might want to wait for a second opinion as I'm still learning all the terminology and what to look out for in individual components.

sheath while we're on the topic can i show you a parts list? i'm completely done and ready to buy. your post sort of struck me with fear of buying too quick. :p

If you want. I'm building a gaming mini-itx currently, my knowledge of computer parts is reasonable but I'm not exactly the best authority on it. Aludane sometimes runs over what I'm picking and gives me advice. :3

I meant a sorta good video card FOR GAMING.

Meh, in NZ anything GOOD will set you back at least $250 (unless you want to slip downwards into slower speeds and  DDR3 territory).

A good case would be at lesat $150-200 here as well. So you are talking at least $320USD.

I dunno if its cheaper to buy components in the US but still, $200USD is about $240NZD and that isn't enough for a modern, decent card let alone a case.

for $200 (-the costs for the case and power supply) you'd be able to play some games on low quality no AA

Mmm. See I think people should just save, buy once, and buy right. I've spent too much time going for mediocre hardware because of impatience in the past, you never feel good about it.
