Punishment =/= revenge

An eye for an eye doesn't have to be applied precisely, it can be applied through other methods, isolation, psychological and physical torment achieve the same results.

Sounds like revenge to me.

That is not rehabilitating or isolating, that is inflicting pain. That is what an eye for an eye is, paying back what they did to harm them.

See if I had a child or a family member raped or killed I'd want them to be tortured too.

But objectively, that is not the point of prisons. Its to remove people like that from society, and offer a chance to rehabilitate. If they are truly lost causes, then they should live out their lives in prison away from good people.

Its not about torment or physical torture. Revenge is not the answer.

I don't think you can really do much if you're being monitored 24/7 by several people

Oh yeah of course haha.

no many windows users are handicapped as well.

but ALL mac users know jack stuff about comps.
and most linux users are just trendy kids who cant even use it, much less deal with the millions of issues it has.

All of that is silly.

I'd say more Windows users don't know anything about computers, because Windows dominated the market for so long that most people in the last several years were just plopped onto a PC, never picked it up well, and have no idea about alternatives.

Just because Mac OSX is designed to be "intuitive" and less cluttered doesn't mean its for idiots. In fact most of the time this simplicity allows users to get more done and quickly pick up the basics of computing that allow them to move onto other computing environments.

I think the most apt users are Linux users because their system is so shoddy and broken that to do anything you have to use console just about everyday.

just imagine the rape that goes on here.

prison rape.

I only watched the first part but, they don't seem to be allowed to socialize with anyone but their cell mate.

I think after a while it'd go from rape to affection if you were that starved for human interaction. :U

Call me a sadist, but I'm a firm believer of an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth

I find that immoral and darkage.

I had a philosophy classed based around this discussion and there was compelling evidence everywhere that in America, the death penalty was either inappropriately used (race driven, or failed innocent people) or was badly executed (lethal injection administrators doing a sloppy job so the person suffers hideously rather than being out cold before death).

I disapprove greatly. I like Norway's style.

Only government can make something as simple as dying more expensive than living.

I mean come loving on, is there some sort of apestuff humanitarian in charge?

How can you argue that prisons like that are unnecessary because of innocent people going to them, yet suggest the death penalty is okay? What about innocent people then?

ive seen the russia one.
i wouldnt call this kind of prison tough though. a prison where the inmate has to fear for his life every day is tough. this russian one looks pretty cozy for a lifetime sentence.

I know what you mean. In this prison, they are stuck in a cell alone and constantly watched. It stops them from getting out, but it also protects them from other inmates.

It looks mentally grinding rather than physically tough. Its a different kind of tough.

Thanks for the link, very interesting.

The only reason why I don't want this in america is because the legal system is forgeted up and the innocent is too often declared the guilty.

I agree that this is a problem in many places. Nice to see someone be very sensible and moral abo---

Also, I would prefer to have a death sentence imposed instead of this sentence, it costs less.

Welcome to WWIII

I know its American tradition to be warmongering but stop being over dramatic.

There is no World War III. Just a poverty striken country trying to earn status in the global perspective.

Arse.

I've known plenty of people, myself included, who have come and gone randomly for periods of months and seldom post.

The only people that get hooked in are those who get caught up in arguments and are too tempted to check up on them. Arguments is this forum's forte (bad ones at least).

Drama / Re: Otis And/Or Jimmg (Whichever One Floats Your Boat)

Otis does not deserve the same treatment as normal people.

Its that half-serious suckup attitude that allows people like them to flout around and post crap unnoticed.

Refreshing to see someone post a well overdue drama about them. Not that'll it'll do anything other than fire them up for more trolling.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm a creature of habit when it comes to Blockland servers. I only visit servers hosted by people I know. Sometimes I venture out if I'm really bored.

Out of the hundreds of servers available at any one time, statistically it doesn't matter if half of those are stuffty because nobody really needs to visit every server.

Its selfish and impractical to ask for some kind of server list 'cleanse' based on what your tastes are. I find RP servers are picking up in quality Blockland-wide.

OSX should be out of question.

Well, its more stable and has more to offer on the gaming end then Linux.

Though I agree, OSX ties together with the hardware Apple provides to make it solid. Going down the Hackintosh route is messy and (maybe) won't be as fulfilling.
