You have a bigger ego then most blocklanders. Why are you more interesting? because you've had a few clans? Loads of people have had clans, Because you've made a load of failed news websites? Because you've made a failed blockland..helper..program thing?

Book was not read.

At this point Icy is just turning sentences around and making it look like he won without lifting fingers or anything.

I didn't realize there was something to win.

Your product is not for all people, and it is not their fault they don't care.
If you want more people to know about you, be more interesting.

Cared enough to post. I believe I am more interesting than most Blocklanders, clearly. Need moar book reading.

Also I was wondering what is all this business on "risking your key for the good of mankind"?

Its a hook for the topic. The back story may be more familiar to you if I simply mention Winbin.

yes, i denied everything you claimed i said. you lied. reread this topic some more.

Denying it, then going ahead and proving the book right, are two different things. ;)

Okay, I can't stop you from thinking what you wish Bisjac. Though I know you didn't read beyond the first page, if any at all. So I feel a little distant from your comments.

With that said, I obviously don't care that much considering some of the things I let get put into the PDF. At least you aren't denying your role in the story.

A few points might need going over..

No idiot outside the blockland forums would actually want to read this :U

Thats the idea.

clearly icy wrote this

Uh, no. There is no benefit in not using an autobiography, and if fact it would have been far faster for me. I am too lazy to write so much at this time, if I had done it we'd be looking at a 10 page document tops.

I can't release who wrote it and I won't allow you to grind me down to do so. However I can say they are indeed a user at this forum and they've posted once or twice recently in general discussion. And they were also part of the TBB which might explain why the writing styles seem similar, I was quite strict in how I got people to write. Otherwise, I don't know, its up to you to decide.

Naturally, anything related to me (whether I post it or not) gets its own bitch crowd as we've seen plenty. If you had read the book, you'd notice you were one of them huehue.

Thanks for the response, keep it coming please. This topic can't bump itself.

EDIT: 600 views and 72 downloads. Either everyone keeps refreshing this page too much or someone posting hasn't read it. I will be inclined to prepare my pitchforks.

Drama / IcyGamma: Biography of an Eventer [BOOK]
« on: November 23, 2011, 06:13:31 AM »

70 pages, 25636 words, 22 (short) chapters.

This is the official biography of IcyGamma. It was written by one of IcyGamma's closer friends, who got cold feet after writing it and demanded it be destroyed. Luckily, IcyGamma convinced him to release it anonymously. So now Icy has to post it himself like a loving oaf (thanks, you know who you are). Due to these circumstances, I apologize if the editing is iffy.

Anyway I was working with a player who wrote this about me after I asked him to. I had little input other than I did create the front and back covers and the names for the chapters. But otherwise I wrote nothing, though he quotes me heavily.

Everything in this book is 100% true. I made it a biography and not an autobiography (which frankly I regretted not having done half way through) to make it more objective.

A large PDF talking about all of IcyGamma's projects over the last three years. A revealing, intriguing, and honest door into the perspective of IcyGamma, hated by some and loved by others, the very person who risked his key to upset Ephialtes, dedicated far too much time to eventing computers, ran everything from a radio and a magazine to a news blog, and created hours of Blockland video purely because he could.

Quote
I was asked to write this by IcyGamma. At first I thought he was taking the piss so I asked him why, and he said that he wanted to have his own 'Blockland story' or 'book' about what he did, like some other players have recently been doing. He told me he wanted it to be like a biography. In particular, he referenced Steve Job's recent book that he explained he had read. He said that a lot of his in-game inspiration for Blockland event computers was drawn from Apple. Even his last build looked unashamedly like the iMac G3 released by Apple in 1998 or so. He said, much like Job's book, he wanted it to be similar in that he didn't want to stop me from writing it my way and posting negative information. In saying that he did send me a tonne of links and snippets over email, some of which I lightly skimmed over due to them being too big. But for the most part I feel I did a good job by myself.
His reference to Steve Jobs perhaps vindicated the feeling that IcyGamma had an ego bigger than Blockland itself. It also reflected another aspect about him; his strange desire to build or create mock-realistic services, builds, and tools. Its as if Blockland was another reality for him. Another world to hide away in.
When I asked IcyGamma what he meant by the whole 'Steve Jobs book' deal, he said to me “I want a mock-book with the same vibes of his biography. In the world of Blockland, I think I may be fitting for someone who makes an interesting read.”
Someone asked me, why did you write this anyway? Privately, I like IcyGamma. I don't agree with how he acts (sorry Icy haha) but I was a fan of his videos and his builds. When I was asked to help I felt honored (but I kinda expected it due to being somewhat close to him for a while). However I feel I should remain anonymous to the wider community, as after having read about IcyGamma and seem some recent topics about him I now realize a lot of people hold contempt for what he did. And I don't want to be dragged into it. To those of you who overheard me and IcyGamma on servers or know who I am, please have some respect for me and don't blurt it out.
IcyGamma and I spoke for pretty much all of November during 2011. Through email, on Skype, and over Steam. Even sometimes we had voice chats, though IcyGamma regularly shied out of them. At one point he got a cold and demanded I leave him alone, then later apologized and spammed my inbox with “<3 <3 <3 luv joo”. But over time, through both talking to him, being sent information, and conducting my own research, I actually had real fun doing this. So without further ramblings, I welcome fans and haters to the Blockland life of IcyGamma...

Download (1.5MB PDF, Mediafire)

And please, give it a good long read so you don't sound like an idiot when you comment on things in it. Who knows, you might even be mentioned in it at some point.

Sometimes I just feel like you're trying to be the "hipster", that one guy who doesn't like the mainstream opinion for the purpose of not liking the mainstream opinion.

I don't like the mainstream opinion because its stupid. I'm pretty much convinced most people don't buy into it either, but they choose not to make a problem of it because they don't want to face arguments.
