Mine is also dying
The laser that reads and burns CDs in my optical drive has now forgeted up, so if I put the disc in 20 times it'll only read it once and usually stop working shortly after. Otherwise it just buzzes then spits it back out. I can now only read DVDs...

No, Steath never will. I'm just installing Arch linux due to sudden Arch linux attraction after talking about Ubuntu. I'll check it out soon.

Just FYI that graphics card is built in so you can't just switch it around willy nilly, some integrated cards (like on laptops) can't be removed, for others replacement is bitchy.

I don't recommend running Ubuntu off a USB key for anything more than an an alternative to disc installation. It doesn't run too great... nothing really can from a flash drive.

If you like customizing wouldn't Gentoo be a much better option than Arch, I thought Arch was meant to be bare minimum, not customizable.

No, Arch is bare where you set it up yourself, installing your own packages and crap from the start. Its basically building your own system... sorta... it has to be bare to work. Technically you could just keep it empty.

Meh. Could be better, but if you only want to play low-end games and use the internet, itll do fine.

Mid to low end games, you can survive with HL2, Portal, and even Gmod (Gmod only just) on much stufftier computers.
