ok this is a bit of a story so strap yourselves in and take some ritalin because this was an epic story of epic porporptions




so my dad works on a submarine for the us navy because he is the captains bitch and it was take your son to work week while this was going on so i was hanging out with dad learning how to be a semen because it is my dream to become the captain of a bunch of sea men anyway we were leaving the port of  san fransisco and all was good once we were like out at sea we started diving and it is really cool how like the submarine points downward some of the new guys fell over but i didn't and we started diving and your ears pop like when you're in a plane but anyways we're diving and i was like "whoah dad this was really cool" and he said "yes it is" while the captain told him to shut up and only speak when spoken too and it was funny  i started to laugh  and yes.

i really liked the captain, we started to hang out and he was teaching me how to make commands to the submarine i even got to turn it to starbord by a whole 5 DEGREES and he told me good job and that i would make a great captain some day and we went to the food area and sat down and had some coffee and he told me he was getting to old for this work and relinguished power of captain to me and im thinking wow i will make my dad so proud and my dad burst in angry that he spent 40 years of his life tyring to be captain but all it takes is his "degenarate 15 year old to "take his dreams away from him and i told him toonly speak when spoken too and he had to say yes sir otherwise i would fire him and it was great and i told him to go to his  bunk for the night and re evaluate his prioritys and stuff



a few days pass and we are doing basic practice patrols out of the shore and suddenly a big boom goes off and everyone starts panicing because apparently an old world war mine hit the sub marine and caused a breach and water started forcing itself in all the sounds were really creaky and i coulds ee dents forming in the walls and we were trying to surface but took on too much water and everything violently collapesed around me  i got trapped under some metal and passed out and i seen the big pearly gates of heaven and whatnot and there was a figure there to welcome me and i told him to just speak when spoken too and shut the fruck off and i woke up in an amberlance driving away from the scene but i passed out again and i was in hell and the devil gave me a thumbs up before i woke up from a acoma and my mom was there crying because my dad died in the fire and i told her in a soft tone only speak when spoken too and saluted the governer general who promoted me to captain II rank an d when i grow up i will become the best captain of a ship in search of crash submarines.

be careful the military isnt for everyone.

I know why the rule was abolished how many years ago, and it made sense for some people. I mean hell, I'm not gonna claim innocence myself, but my first account was me being a stupid dumb kid who had no idea what the term "socially acceptable" meant. Like, I can see the rule working for people who genuine realize they made a big mistake and wish to rectify it. Even when the "no alts" rule existed, this was evident as those who were pretty obviously alts weren't insta-banned when they were actually gone for a few months and realized they were being super dumb.

But then we get people like this:

OP is a known pathological liar and has made up stories for attention in the past.  I think he might have a legitimate mental illness.

I thought about not engaging this thread, but outpact is kind of a scumbag.  Previous accounts were banned for art theft.

Megapixel is now banned.

"Baloney" was banned with the message "Do not come back."  I don't think I can be anymore clear that that.  About 10 other people were banned at the same time, with the same message, and almost all of them have come back and been banned again.   Some of them multiple times.

Folie à Deux has been banned as ForgetLavender, RSoMKC, Toothed Deer, Toothed_Deer, Alex GShep - there's probably more.  This isn't even the first time he's been banned for rule 5'ing in the furry thread.

Other fine examples who never showed up are Taboo, Keith/Markey, and pretty much anyone else who tries to start with a new identity only to flub up like a day later.

Like, honestly. I was banned once before? I realize the rules exist not to be broken? Why do people think they will keep getting away with breaking them?
It's not that fun to keep dealing with these repeat offenders when "a second chance is worth $10". They've clearly shown they're incapable of dealing with other people, so why can't they just screw off forever? I do like how Badspot is now releasing histories of people when people simply ask. It is a good step in the right direction, but the one extra step of prevention would be nice I guess. I mean honestly, is the trouble that everyone else has to put up with for a while worth the $10? (of which doesn't even go entirely to badspot right?)

The people that evade bans right after they are banned

there was a thing a while ago where Maxxi like did some thing involving cancer and chlorine and hating furries (can you knot btw?)
he got banned for being a bit of a negative nelly. And then he came back not even before the 2 week ban was over.

Like just when you thought you had a 2 week break from Maxx's over aggressive and vulgar posts, he comes back on another account. Sad.

It totally defeats the point of the ban. You know, to teach the offender a lesson that they're being completely really and utterly not nice.
Like, 2 weeks? That's 14 days. Can you really not go 14 days without getting DAT FORUM FIX???

Hell, on the worst of days when Taboo would get banned, he would be back the very next day.

The bans are there for a reason, it's a big keep out sign!

the obvious disclaimer

yes, i know if people really wanted to cause us some nasty troll terror, it wouldn't be that hard. but even re-implementing IP bans could help against those who actually just buy another alt on impulse instead of actively look to cause trouble. or, maybe (if possible anyways) bring in some warning system, where "some nasty user has logged in on XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX IP!" and maybe check if they're an actual troublemaker or maybe someone who logged in off a IP from a service tower or something

but really, the purpose of the $10 second chance has long been defeated. it's just a way for those who constantly berate the game or the users to keep returning and continue, and i don't speak for everyone but honestly i would like that to stop.

It's a question I've been thinking a lot about.
I know the real answer is "its very very very complicated and we dont even know", but I find it interesting.

Take a cell for instance to make it easier. Proteins and DNA are not "alive". The organelles in a Cell are just about as "dead" as anything in your bedroom, yet they all make up a cell which manages to perform tasks that we consider life. Once you conglomerate trillions of these cells, they communicate with each other to make angry teenagers, honey badgers, hambones, trees, weed leaves, and angry single mothers who found mentioned weed leaves.

But all of our basic parts don't contain life. They're just carrying out the same chemical reactions over and over without actual choice. Even between people, the cells are more or less the same sans the DNA we carry. How do the cells which we have define their limits based on a huge string of atoms, to make my nose just long enough.

Since everything in itself is a chain reaction of chemical reactions, does that mean the future is pre-determined by the reactions going on in your wang cells right now? Is there actually a free will because of that?

It's all very interesting. I want to hear your opinions.
